We are buliding our home. The contractor has underbid on just about everything, who pays for the difference? He says that we have to, we have a paper that shows how much is allowed for each part of the buliding process. For instance, he did not allow for enough for the foam insulation that we put in and it was in our contract that we would put in foam insulation. He said we had to pay the difference, but isn't it his fault for underbidding it and he have to pay the difference? There have been other issues, such as the deadline for the house that was put in the contract was 7 months ago and counting.

Brandi,
You are another victim....... Read the column above again and see how you were duped. The contractor put in unrealistic allowances to get his overall bid lower. It is called Deception. Who is at fault? Unfortunately most of the blame is yours because you should NOT have had ANY allowances in the job. All of this would have been avoided if you would have made exact product selections in the plans and specifications. Go read ALL of the columns in my House Plans and Home Builders categories.
Allowances are Death on a Stick with Bird Flu all over it.....
