I have a gas water heater (natural gas) with an electric ignite. I own a 2
story home and do not understand why it has to have an electric ignite. I
am told it has a power vent and that is why it needs an electric ignite but
I do not understand. Can you please help me understand. I would prefer to
have just a gas water heater. Thank you.

i have a one year old Ruud. It has shut down. The valve error code has 2
flashes pause 3 flashes. This indicates flammable vapor sensor.
I do not know how to get it going.

Power venting requires a fan to run on demand thus a continuous pilot would
require the fan to always run. Electronic ignition seems far less
troublesome to me, no blown out pilot lights on windy days or thermocouples
always going bad.
