Summary: Glass block can be used for numerous projects. Wondering how to build a greenhouse? I used glass block to build a greenhouse. Installing glass blocks with plastic spacers is easier than ever. Caulk instead of mortar connects one block to another. The row of glass block is important because it must be level.

Interested if Glass Block holds heat, as in a passive solar heating system,
installed as a wall on the north side of a greenhouse.
What would it's retention characteristics be relative to tubes of water or
brick/fireclay wall?
Thanks!

Tim,
Contact the glass block people for R-value. I suspect it is less than 3.

Brilliant idea. What did you use for flooring and what type of roof did
you put on? A green, i.e. living roof, would be really interesting on a
greenhouse. Wouldn't let any light in through the ceiling, though, unless
some type of skylight was used.

PT,
The floor is concrete. This space is in my basement..... So the *roof* is
the floor above. Look at the photos above in the column once more for the
light panels.

Can you use regular sanded grout? Like you would use on tiles.

Hi Tim,
I would like to replace a section of my wall which is a mortar double brick
home with glass blocks.
Is there any safety issues I need to be concern of?
Because most of the glass block tutorials I have seen are just partitions.
Thanks in advance
John
