Privacy Fence

By Tim Carter
©1993-2008 Tim Carter
Summary: A privacy fence can offer you lots of peace. Privacy fences can be made from a variety of materials. Vinyl privacy fence is acceptable, but a wood privacy fence is great as well. Evergreen bushes and trees might be a better choice to create privacy. Privacy fence designs are as abundant as stars in the sky.

I have installed a privacy fence around our decks and need to extend down a flight of stairs to our garage. I have used Veranda Vinyl Fence, is there a way to install on an angle by taking it apart slat by slat? My rise is about 8" per foot, with a total of 12 steps. Can you help

No. Contact the manufacturer.

Is there a make of fence or solution? I'm open to suggestions. As long as it white vinyl, I don't see a problem with using any type fence that would work.

I need to buy a privacy fence. My wife was told since we are by a school vinyl is risking if kids kick a ball or something at it, it will crack in cold weather. Is this true? Also why would you pick wood over vinyl besides colr?

Jay,
I think it would have to get really cold for that to happen. Get a warranty from the fence manufacturer. Some people do not like vinyl.

My yard is not square. Is it wrong or does it look bad to run you property line if it has angles?

Hi, I am doing a school project for my geometery class and We are doing a house building project. I was wondering if it would be cheaper to make a fence or put up the trees. Thanks

Hi, I have a common driveway that opens to a backyard with no visible separation to accomodate easement (cars driving in and out). I would like to put up a moveable, accordion fence that I can open and close at will but that would also provide privacy from the neighbors. Is there such a thing that I can buy?

Also, the fence would need to be stable enough for my children to tap or bump into it with their tricycles and preferably be approximately 25 to 30 feet long and 6 feet tall, and provide privacy from my neighbors. Thanks.

Hi, We are thinking of putting up a privacy fence down the side of the driveway with a gate across. We have trouble with our neighbors and in talking to different people, I have been told on more than one occasion that we cannot extend the fence far enough down the driveway if it blocks her view. Is there a certain code in the state of Ohio that tells us exactly how far down the driveway we are allowed to go?? Thank You - Michelle

Michelle,

Many communities have regulations regarding fencing. Contact your local Zoning Commission. They will know how far you can go with a privacy fence.

we have lattice up 8ft tall around our pool but we are wanting to make the pool more private by either using a mesh cover on the lattice or somthing else to cover.something not very expensive. Do you have any suggestions?
