I thought the site thoroughly explained the issues associated with
installing a recessed medicine cabinet. It listed the possible obstacles
that may exist behind the drywall and therefore may delay what may seem to
be an easy installation. Thank you!!

The medicine cabinets in my condo are recessed, old, dated and well used.
I would like to replace them with another recessed cabinet but am having
trouble finding ones that are the same size:
13 5/8 X 18 3/4. Any ideas where I can look? Thanks for your help.

Jane,
As crazy as this sounds, as I scrolled down this page to read your post, I saw four different ads for companies that said they sold medicine cabinets. If that doesn't work, then I would go to Google and type in "recessed medicine cabinets".

Jane,
Ask at your local home improvement warehouse - they should have a few models that say the "rough-in" size is 14 x 18 inches. Most or all of those will fit the existing hole.

I installed a recessed medicine cabinet from a company that also makes
other types of recessed cabinets. Once I realized how easy this was to do I
was hooked! I then installed a Large Bathroom Display Cabinet.
The hole cut width is the same as the medicine cabinet, designed to fit between standard 16" on center wall studs but it is 60" high. And matched the medicine cabinet perfectly.
After that I was like...omg. Where can I put another one of these. I ended up installing a Recessed Ironing Board in My Master suite Closet for touching up. And Recessed In Wall Spice Rack.
I love these in wall cabinets. And they are so easy the job makes even all thumbs me look like a pro.

I have a sliding glass mirror over a double sink in my bathroom. Behind the
mirror is a recessed, door-less, metal medicine cabinet. I would like to
add another one next to it, but I can't locate any. They all seem to come
with doors and mirrors. I just want the shell to insert between studs.

So please I found your website. I have been searching websites in vain for months and have yet found a solution to my probem. I am in search for a medicine cabinet to replace my present one that measures recessed 22-1/4" x 16-1/2". Just replaced a vanity that is cherry wood.
Any recommendations you may have would be most appreciated.
sincerely. Fred Lecomte

Tim, we have a beautiful recessed medicine cabinet from Kohler. It's
mirrored all the way around (no frame). We only installed it about 4 years
ago...and within the first year, the mirror finish started flaking off on
the bottom edge of the doors where you pull them open. Is this common?
Should that happen? It's now so bad and unsightly that we need to replace
the entire cabinet.

I am putting up a 4.5 inch deep medicine cabinet. I'm having trouble
finding a light fixture that extends much beyond 5 inches. What do you
suggest? If I have a light fixture where the center of the bulb comes out 5
inches how high do I have to mount it on the wall above the medicine
cabinet to make sure I have light. Would it be better to get a fixture
where the shades are pointed up or down? Thanks. I'm stuck.

This article glided right over my question of what to do when the recessed
area contains electrical cables and/or support beams. Everything that is
said was already obvious. Where is the beef?
