Your tips on this subect are very useful to me while building a new hom. I
have allotted about 60" for cabinets. The ceiling is 9' high and there is
now a 12" soffitt. I was plannning on 36" cabinets but I am having a
really hard time finding some. Does anyone have a suggested souce that
will not break my already strained building budget. :--)

I used Mill's Pride Cabinets from Home Depot several years ago and was very
pleased with them. I have KraftMaid cabinetry in my new home and think the
cabinets are pretty comparable, honestly. You will have to put the Mill's
Pride ones together yourself; the doors for the wood designs are solid.
Another option that is highly rated by Consumer Reports is Ikea cabinets,
if you have one of those close by. Good luck!
I want to put in some cabinets in my laundry room. My question is:
when I bought my house the previous owner had put in new oak kitchen
cabinets but I want to put in white base cabinets in my laundry room. Is
it ok to use two different cabinet styles and colors in a house? You come
directly into my laundry room from the back door and the kitchen and
bathroom open off one end of the laundry and the living room door is on the
other end. I have wainscoting painted white on the bottom of the walls
with a little ledge and the walls are painted a light aqua above. The
walls used to have a very ugly wall paper and the bottom was painted dark
brown. When I painted the walls, it really brightened up the room and I
think white cabinets would would be perfect. I want to put a 60" base
cabinet with counter top in the room to match the homemade floor to ceiling
cabinets on the opposite room next to the washer and dryer.
Would this be a good idea, using the white cabinets?
