Summary: Home inspectors can make mistakes, but defects in a house can happen long after the inspector has gone. You should be there the day the inspection happens and take your own photos so that you have a visual record of the condition of the home.

The home inspector is just that an inspector. He/she is looking for possible problems with your home before you buy it. They may miss some things, it is possible. They are not there to guarantee you home purchase. It may be advisable to purchase home warranty insurance coverage for 2 or 3 years when buying an older home or any home for that matter.
