My house was just inspected by a local home inspector who says my ceiling
fan on my screened-in porch is installed with the wrong wiring. It is
wired with a grey flat-type wiring with the following lettering E3044 (UL)
AWG CU 2 CDR WITH AWG 14 GROUND TYPE 600 VOLTS UF-B SUNLIGHT RESISTANT. Is
this wiring proper for a screened-in porch? Thank you!

Tim,
I just installed a ceiling fan and all seems to be working well, except for
one small thing. The fan is controlled by a remote that came with it.
While the fan is running or turned off, it's silent. However, when I push
the button on the remote to turn the fan on or off, there is a short
electrical buzzing sound (less than 1 second). Is this something I need to
be worried about? Thanks in advance!

I have installed a 48" ceiling fan in my small study rm(82sq ft) with a
ceiling height of 9ft. Regrettably,it does not provide sufficient cooling
at all. This fan modal which is (Fanco FFM 3000) does not allow for the
lengthening of its shaft to bring it lower for more effective cooling.
I was advised to bend the blades of the fan to increase the downward draft.
However when tried the method suggested, the speed of the fan was reduced
greatly so much so that the problem was exacerbated.
I am in desperate need of a solution to my problem.
Pl do not ask me to buy another modal of fan.
With Thanks,
Daniel.

I live in a building with a radiant heat on the ceiling is it safe to
install a ceiling fan? Would I hit any connection on the ceiling that would
damage the heat? What type of ceiling fan box should I used on installing
ceiling fan? Please help I need your expertise on this matter thank you.

I’m replacing a light fixture with a remote ceiling fan with a light kit
and having a wiring issue. It appears that whoever installed the original
wiring did not follow the color code because when I connect a light
fixtures wiring to the electrical box, black to black and white to white I
short the circuit. In my ceiling electrical box I have two BX cables with
two black and white wires each. The two black wires from two separate BX
cables are spliced together and the white wires where originally connected
to the light fixture. After testing the white wires with a test light in
the ceiling electrical box I connected the set of two wires from the
universal ceiling fan remote, black from the remote to the white from BX
cable with current in it (where the test light lit up after connecting one
side to the BX cable wire and grounding the other) and the white wire from
the remote to the white wire from the other BX cable (where the test light
does not light up) then I connected the other set of three wires from the
remote to the three ceiling fan wires: white to white, black to black and
red to black and white wire. After turning the power on, the lights on the
ceiling fan along with the remote dimmer are working and the remote makes a
clicking sound when I attempt to run a fan at different speed but the fan
motor does not turn. I also checked the security setting on the remote to
be the same as it is on the remote unite. I’m pretty sure that I did not
burn the fan’s motor yet but wired it incorrectly. Please tell me if you
can, what it was that I did wrong.
Thanking you in advance,
Marat.

I have a question:
I installed 4 ceiling fans in my daycare facility. One in the rooms, and 2
in the livingroom and kitchen area. Unfortunately, we cannot feel the air.
Not sure if the ceiling fan speed can increase somehow or the fans need
longer blades.
Help?

Nancy,
Are your ceiling fans running the proper direction? Some have a reversing
switch. If the fans are running up, you may not feel the air movement. But
even if you don't feel the air, if the fans are running air is being moved.
