How long would it take the motivated average guy to split a cord of

I am particularly interested in using a traditional method of fabricating
Wooden Shingles for wall siding of my wooden building home, as a diy
project. Done much research but have not found sufficient guidlines- not
even on the internet.Please help me
develop the skill and also procuring traditional tools for that purpose.
I would also like to know if a log splitter (either mechanical or
manual)can be used in the process.
