I am preparing to remodel my kitchen. You chose wood flooring. Is that the best for kitchen use, related to activity and potential spills?

I'm a carpenter remoldeing my kitchen. My question is. my house is a modular double wide trailer, and the floor has a rise in it. unfixable. so i need to float the subfloor, so i can lay down hardwood flooring. Now can i use fixall cement type filling to level the floor?.

I'm trying to repair a HUD home. I need ideas on what to do about the installed island that's got drywall around it. I'm not sure if I should paint, tile or put imitation stone to cover it.
