I am struggling with a leak that I have now removed drywall from the ceiling in my kitchen to only find that there is no "leak". With cold temps outside, my vent pipe is forming condensation and that is what is dripping down and onto the drywall causing it to crack. I crawled into the attic and there is insulation around the pipe on the attic floor, just like the entire attic. Any ideas on this one? I am stumped.

My kitchen smells like spoiled garbage. I live in Royal Oak Michigan and it is winter here now. What can I do to get rid of the stink? Seems to be coming from my kitchen sink and the cupboards directly near the sink. I tried using bleech and it worked for 1/2 a day, but then the stink came back. What is it? How can I fix it? Is my stink pipe perhaps clogged? If so, how can I check to find out? It sooo STINKS HELP Lillian

What is the proper number and placement of vent pipes in a household sewer system? i.e. Where should a vent be placed in relation to a sink?
Thanks

I am trying to install a basement bathroom below grade. I want to use a saniflow macerator to push the sewage up into the drain pipes. The vent pipes for the existing system do not seem to be anywhere in the basement. I think they go from the first floor up to the roof. There are several showing in the roof, but I cannot locate them in the basemnt. Is it possible they only go from the bathrooms and kitchen on first floor up? Can I install a separate vent pipe for the basement toilet? If so, I cannot get it to the roof, so can I just go up 8 feet to the sillplate for the first floor, punch through and vent it there. I will make sure once outside that the top of the pipe is at least four feet above ground level so it never gets stopped or blocked by snow or anything. That would give me a total hight of about 10-12 feet above the saniflow pump. Is this allowed and will it allow the system to operate properly.
