Over the years I've had some really neat discoveries while I was doing some remodeling
0:08
work. Now what happened? Well I would be tearing apart a wall doing some demolition work and all
0:13
of a sudden we would find something. Check out some of the neat things that I have found and
0:17
kept over the years. This is a cigarette case. It's got a date of August 3rd 1909 and check this out
0:25
no surgeon general warning. Really a neat item. I'm sure it's a collector's item so I keep it in
0:29
in very good shape. Here's an old Huitipole Brewery bottle. I'll bet you this thing is about
0:34
100 years old. And I've got another one I found in another job that's the Houck Brewery here in
0:39
Cincinnati, Ohio. It is really a gorgeous beer bottle. And they are really thick glass. And I
0:45
had a lot of fun finding them. Another great thing we find from time to time, just old newspapers
0:50
So what I want you to do on your upcoming new home job, or maybe it's a remodeling job, I want you
0:56
to make a future carpenter happy. How are you going to do it? You're going to make your own time capsule of sorts
1:02
Here are some of the things that you can use to do it with I prefer to use the daily newspaper It as simple as that If you can get one of the national newspapers that would be fun and you want to include the entire paper And believe me it going to be really funny to read this thing 80 or 90 years from now
1:17
Make sure you save the Sunday Inquirer, and I'll tell you why. The Sunday Inquirer's got a lot of neat things in it
1:23
Imagine how people are going to laugh years from now when they see they could have bought in the year 2002 a sofa for $599
1:31
nine bucks, probably 50 years from now it's going to be five thousand dollars. So make
1:35
sure you put that in there. Finally, just odds and ends. Go ahead and put some of your
1:39
own bottles in. Whatever soft drink bottles you may find. They're colorful. Make sure
1:43
you rinse them out before you do it. And here's one of our modern beer bottles. And other neat
1:49
things. Maybe you've got an old electronic toy of your kids that doesn't work anymore
1:53
Throw that in the wall. I like to use a Ziploc bag to protect some of the things that might
1:56
get damaged, you know, down the road. Simply go ahead and put this treasure in the wall
2:00
and you know what? You'll probably make some builder or remodeler very happy in the future
