Okay, you're thinking about replacing the windows at your house. Is it really a tough project? Well
0:10
it can and it can't be. What do you need to do to get the job done? The first thing you have to
0:15
realize is you have to get prepared. You have to make sure you have everything you need to do the
0:19
entire project so that you can get it finished right away. Now, what do you start with? Well
0:25
on a wood frame house, one of the things I like to use is a wide pry bar, and you first start by
0:29
taking off this wide trim on either side of the window. Now, once you take that trim off
0:35
I generally go inside and do the same thing. Take the interior trim off and make sure you
0:40
take off any window sills and any other trim that's in the way. Next thing you'll start
0:45
with is a sawzall, which has got a metal blade on it that will allow you to slide it along
0:51
the sides of the frame inside the room and cut any nails that are attaching the window
0:57
to the rough framing. Once you cut those nails, the window should be free. Now, if it isn't
1:03
what you do is I like to take the window sashes out next. You've just got the frame in place
1:08
Then go ahead and take the sawzall and use it to cut the bottom sill of the frame. Now
1:15
after you cut that bottom frame, it basically frees the whole window up and it allows you
1:20
to completely take the frame out and you're ready to go. Oh, yeah. Look at that
1:25
I told you there was nothing to take out the old window
1:30
It's really pretty simple. And all we got to do now is put the new one in. Oh, no
1:35
I forgot to order the new window. If you want to discover more home improvement tips, go to askthebuilder.com
