Hi, I'm Tim Carter from AskTheBuilder.com and I want to show you something really pretty cool
0:08
I'm sorry about the wind, nothing I can do about that, but I want to show you how a linear French
0:14
drain works and over my right shoulder you might be able to see behind me that the ground is kind
0:22
of wet in a certain area and let's go up and see what the source of that moisture is
0:27
Alright, look at that! See that water coming out of the pipe? That is groundwater and there's a lot
0:38
of it coming out of there. That's a big flow right there. So where's it coming from? Well
0:45
if you look up here, this is where I installed alongside the shed a trench drain, a linear French
0:53
drain and it's a trench that's filled with gravel and up in that area is perforated drain pipe
1:01
and the water is entering the pipe and then it flows out of the pipe here that's a tremendous
1:07
amount of water that's coming out of there right now and it's not rained in here oh you've got some
1:13
snow melt happening and we did have a little bit of rain a day ago but i here to tell you that if This was the kind of water that was you know coming into your basement you have a big problem So that why linear French drains
1:29
are so effective. So that was pretty cool, wasn't it? So that's how a linear French drain works
1:35
and you can see the water. It just comes out of there 24 hours a day, seven days a week
1:40
if you've got moisture in the soil. They're highly effective. They can keep a basement or
1:46
a crawlspace dry and I'm here to tell you they work. I've installed many many of these systems
1:53
and thousands of people have followed my advice on how to keep their basements and crawl spaces dry
1:58
and they work. It's that simple. You can see it. So imagine having a dry basement or a dry crawlspace
2:07
It's possible. I hope you have one soon in your future. I'm Tim Carter for AskTheBuilder.com
