Hi, I'm Tim Carter from Ask the Builder.com

And in this video I want to show you the trick on how you get started taking tile off

on a wall where you've got two inside corners. And here's what I'm talking about

You can see right here that this tile butts into this corner and then if we go over here

you can kind of see that the tile's in a corner here

Well the problem is here's the biggest. the big issue. This tile, because of the grout and the glue, it's all basically kind of

bound up to each other. It's a lot like if you were in a crowded elevator, I mean, and no one

could move and the doors were closed. So to make room so that one person can at least, you know

so you can have some room in the elevator, you've got to get somebody out of the elevator. So in this case, we've got to get one piece of the tile out. And I at least will start here

because it's at an edge and there's a little bit of a gap there. If you decided to start in the middle of a wall, it'd be a lot harder

And I know I told you before not to do this, but unfortunately

this is the only way you're going to get the tile out. You have to take a hammer. You've got to make sure you've got eye protection on

I'm okay. And I going to beat this tile out and basically shatter it You don have to go wild so that you don have pieces flying over the place So let do it right now Here what you got to do

Okay, you can see. Okay, you can see it wasn't that hard

Okay, you can see it wasn't that hard. I wasn't really beaten like crazy

I was giving it nice solid strokes. And it came out with a little bit of effort

It wasn't too bad. So now I can take, you know, the tool we talked about before

I can start to get it underneath here and inside here and start to get these other tiles out

It's really that simple how you go ahead and get your first tile out

Like I said, just be careful. Make sure you've got good eye protection. Everything's going to go okay
