I'm Tim Carter, and this is Ask the Builder, and I'm on my laptop

All right, so the reason I'm on the laptop is because right in front of me is this giant LG monitor

34 inches wide or so, it's huge, curved, and right behind. Behind the laptop screen is my new Mac Mini computer

And, of course, the old IMac, which is over there and is retired, had its own built-in camera, just like right here

All right. So, anyway, we're going to be using the laptop for a little bit until I decide if I want to get a better, a separate HD camera

So I'm Tim Carter, and this is Ask the Builder, and it's going to be a very interesting live stream today, I believe

Great, wonderful. Once again, if you have not checked in, go ahead and do it. If you want to list one of your superpowers, what you're really good at, that would really help. Because sometimes I have questions for you. It's happened very frequently. So you might, you know, I don't know everything, that's for sure. I mean, after all, I used to eat lunch sitting on empty drywall buckets for 20 years. What could I possibly know

actually there's a really funny story about that I'll tell you if you want but in just a minute

we're going to get started on the deck ledger board I had a really great suggestion over the

weekend from a regular Jason I don't know that he's here he's really good at lurking and and

he he a he a talk about a superpower superpower superpower laundry there you go now now we having some having some fun Laundry I done my own laundry since age eight Of course that makes Kathy really happy that she never in her life had to do my laundry

My dad was disabled. As soon as I could reach the controls on the washing machine, my mom taught me how to do it because my mom worked

And she just said, you're in charge of the laundry. She did all of her delicate stuff

which is fine by me because I didn't understand a lot of it and how it worked at that young age

But I did do a lot of her laundry. And she taught me how to do it, you know, not to mix things up

So I'm glad she taught me that skill. All right. So let's talk a little bit about deck ledger boards

And also, here's what I wanted to say before we get into that. This don't take a few seconds. I got a suggestion from Jason

and it was really good idea. It kind of came up indirectly

I'm going to try to do it this Wednesday a little bit, but Jason's not the first person

that has referred to this live stream as a show, and I never really thought about it that way And if you look at most shows on television they very structured Now I not saying structure is a good thing but I think that there are some things I could do that would make the stream a far more interesting

So I'm going to try it on Wednesday and Saturday. We'll see how it goes and we'll take a poll

And I've got another story to tell you about a consult I did this weekend that's indirectly related to this

And hey, Don, how you doing? Where I was hired by a newsletter subscriber to review the blueprints of his daughter's new home that's being built on the Ohio River

and I found it was done by a big architect up in Athens, Ohio, and I found like five major flaws in this plan

I mean, serious flipping flaws, serious. So, and one of them happened to be kind of, I would call it a deck, but it was like a covered deck on the back of the home
