Hello, I'm here. It looks like everybody got here before I did it before the part
0:05
Is that true or is everyone here and, and I'm getting here last
0:12
Um ok, let's see. Yeah, it looks like your already. This is amazing
0:17
What do you know? Uh This is great. Uh Hello Jennifer. Hello
0:23
Lane. Hello, Jack. Um All right. So I'm here. I almost missed getting on the air
0:30
Um I got kind of, here's what I was just doing a few minutes ago
0:34
I um one of the things that I use a lot of is I use uh Google Drive
0:41
If you've not, if you don't know anything about Google Drive, it's, it's just this amazing giant
0:50
I don't know how many thousands or tens of thousands of servers they have, but you can store information up in the cloud and you
0:58
it can be spreadsheets, documents, photographs, videos, whatever. So I, I have lots of documents and what's really cool is that you can share
1:08
them with people and set different levels of permission so that people can collaborate
1:12
All right. So that's, that's a pretty cool feature. And uh I just created a brand new document
1:18
This may sound a little uh OK. It almost sounds like the beginning of the or the early parts of the movie of the music
1:25
man, which is that old musical? That's 5060 years old, right? So I think Hallie Mills was in it
1:30
II, I think that was who it was the young girl. And, and she
1:35
she was, there was this older woman in, in the um in the music man that was kind of preoccupied with dying
1:45
And so early in the movie, there was this one scene where she's meeting with a mortician going over her casket and the lining and
1:54
and young Harry Mills is like, what the hell is the matter with you
2:00
And so throughout the movie, eventually what happens is Haley Mill, you know, turn
2:04
turns her around, turns this grandmother, I think it was her grandmother, turns her around and
2:08
and the woman has a completely reinvigorated um feeling about life and
2:14
you know, tells the mortician get the hell out of her. So anyway
2:20
so I created this, I, I'm starting to declutter. I told you I was gonna do that and I decided that
2:26
you know, my kids, they, they might not know what stuff is
2:31
So I've created this document saying what here's some of the stuff and this is
2:36
this stuff's valuable, this stuff might not be so valuable. This stuff is enormously valuable
2:42
Um blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. And uh so it's kind of a fun document
2:46
but they're, they're, they're gonna start to read and think the old man is going off the flipping deep edge
2:54
All right. What do you think my haircut? All right. So I told you I was getting a haircut
2:59
It's pretty short. Um All right, let's see here and I'm gonna get caught up in the comments in just a second
3:04
Uh uh All right. Um If you haven't checked in yet, you should
3:10
uh you can look at all the people that have checked in Jennifer. Are you telling me you did not still did not get the
3:16
drawing? If you didn't, I'm making a new one as soon as I get off the stream here at a mail in the morning
3:21
I'm actually gonna take a flipping photograph and email you the photo. Uh So I cannot believe you did not get that thing
3:29
Uh All right, let's see here. Let me check up on the comments and then we're gonna get started here
3:33
Good. Look what I have. I have um some metal roof panels
3:39
All right, we're gonna talk about these. Um Let me get caught up on the c comments
3:45
Um All right. Let's see. Uh I'm gonna talk about painting them so just hang it
3:54
hang tight. Um Elaine, you did remember Jack. Uh I also want to use a roof panel for privacy fencing
4:02
Mm I don't know about that. Um I know down here I wrote a bit put the middle pens on frame
4:10
OK. All right. Here we go. So I'm caught up on the comments. Let's start talking about it
4:13
Uh If you just arrived here, I'm Tim Carter. This is I'm the, the builder guy
4:18
Um I wanna warn you right away. What, what happens is after these
4:25
after the live stream finishes Google processes the video and then it becomes a permanent video
4:33
Ok? And, and I have these people who like, someone's gonna probably watch this video tonight
4:38
but let's just say the live stream goes for an hour and a half, someone's gonna
4:44
someone's gonna leave a comment, but you can go back to like the last two live streams and see a couple of these snarky comments
4:51
Somebody said, uh I forget what it was. Um I, I forget what we're talking about
4:56
but he just said like an hour and a half. Oh, I know what it was, an hour and a half to talk about toilet
5:02
wax rings. Are you kidding me? So you, you know that
5:11
can be taken a number of ways. All right, I get it. So I
5:15
I want to warn you right now if you're, if you've just wa if you're watching this and it's not live and if you think
5:21
I'm gonna talk about metal roof panels for an hour and a half, you're crazy. Although I could
5:25
if you, if there's enough questions, all different types of questions, I could continue just talking
5:30
But once the questions dry up about metal roof panels, I, I switch gears
5:36
I go somewhere else because I don't want to, you know, just blab around about metal roofing panels
5:41
I wanna help you save time and money and I want to answer your questions about that topic
5:46
So, let's get started. Hi. A vinyl. How are you doing here? Are you kidding me
5:50
Uh, what the heck he's supposed to be on the golf course that you don't
5:54
they don't, you, you've got like five pairs of, of waterproof golf shoes. Can't you wear a flipping rain checker or poncho out to play
6:01
golf? Come on. All right. So Jennifer, um, here's our first question
6:07
Can metal roof panel, pa can metal roof panels be painted effectively
6:12
So the color doesn't fade or wear or is it simple, simpler, cheaper
6:15
easier to replace them? No. Um, that's a great, great question. I
6:24
when did I just, oh, I talked about that in the, um, I just talked about this
6:30
Um, maybe I wrote a column about it. Everything's kind of blended together
6:35
Uh, photons, the, uh, ultraviolet light from the sun that, that causes you and I to get sunburn
6:43
5% of the ultraviolet rays contain active photons. The active photons are so powerful
6:51
they can break atomic bonds. All right, of metal, certain metals, not all
6:57
In other words, they can easily do with copper and zinc and lead
7:01
Those three, those are all materials that we typically use for flashing on roofs
7:08
So think about that. A photon is so strong that when it hits a solid piece of metal on the roof
7:15
All right, you got this. So, so you understand what copper is like, solid copper
7:19
So it's all these, if you could look at electron microscope, you know, it's all these tiny
7:23
tiny, tiny little atoms. Just think of them like B BS, you know
7:27
like a little BB like for a big gun. You know, all these tiny little beavers and the photon hits it
7:33
boom, blows it up, blows one of the atoms, you know, it's just kind of
7:40
and then the rain washes it down the roof. And what happens chemically it can attach to the asphalt
7:45
blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, we're not gonna get into chemistry. The point I'm trying to make is if the photons are so powerful that
7:53
they can break metal like blast metal apart, what do you think they're gonna do to paint
8:00
I mean, what's stronger metal or paint? So the bottom line Jennifer is that the photons are going to
8:08
I mean, you, you already know this to be the case. Like if you put something out uh in the sun for any length of
8:14
time, depending on what it is, the color will start to fade
8:18
So the, the photons are gonna cause the paint to fade. No big deal
8:23
You can paint metal roof and that's the good thing about metal. Metal loves to be painted
8:28
Uh, wood hates to be painted. The reason wood paint flakes off me a metal or wood is because wood's got a very high expansion
8:37
contraction coefficient. And so the paint can't stretch that much and it eventually fails
8:44
Whereas metal has got a very low expansion contraction coefficient, just very little
8:50
It, it will expand a contract but not like wood, not like w that means that's why you don't see paint
8:58
Typically you, you rarely see paint flaking off of a car or a truck or
9:03
or a metal oil drum. The only time it is is that if the, if the paints, if it's
9:07
if it's steel and it's got rusty and water's got between the paint and the steel
9:13
then you're gonna start to see it flake off. But if you can just keep the roof painted
9:18
um, it's gonna last a long time. I mean, the metal, as long as you can just make it so that it doesn't get water
9:27
to it, you're gonna be fine, you're gonna be fine. So paint it, paint it simple as that don't replace it
9:31
don't be, it's very hard to replace it. I'm gonna show you why in a minute. Really hard
9:35
Yeah. If you think you're gonna replace a, a metal roof panel, you got another thought coming
9:41
All right. Um, let me get caught up. I also wanna use a roof panel for privacy fencing
9:48
Um, I guess you can, um, there might be just cheaper materials to use
9:56
Uh, you know, in other words, you, you would just have to see how
10:03
how the nailing pattern is, how they're attached and will it withstand
10:10
I mean, the trouble that you have, I mean, you, you live in an area where Jennifer where
10:15
I don't know what you can have 6070 mile per hour winds
10:20
I mean, that's, you know, you, it can be really windy and I
10:25
I just would be concerned about, um, how resistant these things are to
10:31
to the wind, you know, and how you're gonna attach it. So that, that
10:34
but, but yeah, I mean, it would work. I mean, it would work but there might be better ways to do it
10:42
All right. Uh Let's see, I get caught up. Um Will says she was only a telegrapher's daughter but she did
10:50
did, did, did, did it come on, we gotta keep it clean
10:59
Here. Will come on. Uh, anyway. Uh Oh, you've got the drawing
11:03
Fantastic. Jeez. Finally can good. Um, ok. Wonderful, wonderful Steve. Hi, Steve
11:12
Welcome. All right. So now let me show you. So here's what happened about a week ago
11:17
Uh, a neighbor of mine, maybe just a quarter of a mile away. They
11:23
they put on a new roof and it had been an asphalt shingle and to the best of my knowledge
11:29
the roof that was on the house could have been original, um, didn't look to be in really bad shape but the new owner
11:37
uh, the, the, the people who own the home now bought it maybe a year or two ago
11:41
And, um, I guess they just wanted to put in a roof on and so they put this on and this is aluminum
11:50
and it's, uh, I know it's kind of hard to tell. It's, the sun's, it's a green
11:55
it's like a medium. It's not teal, it's not a teal green
11:59
but it's definitely got some blue in it. All right. So, but it's aluminum
12:04
it's got kind of this roughish texture. I'm trying to hold it up to even see it and you can see the way this works
12:13
is, well, this is the front that you see. And here's the underside
12:18
So the underside has got these two folds of material. Whereas the other two edges over here
12:26
the opposite two that you know that the 180 degree bends here
12:31
And the reason why is that's how they interlock, in other words
12:35
as you install this material. All right. So I'm going to, so I'm just gonna put this like
12:43
in other words, the, the way it works. So you can see once again
12:47
there's a G, there's like it's bent over here like a French cleat. All right
12:51
So when the roofer, when he has this bottom one on the roof and then he goes to put the next layer
12:56
he slides it up. It's hard to do it backwards. There we go
13:02
All right. So they, they're now interlocked. All right. So, so the overlap
13:07
what's really interesting, you have to understand the overlap is only this much, you know
13:11
a half inch. All right. So that's really important to keep in mind and I'll show you why
13:15
I mean it, and of course, when they do this, they, they offset the seam so that
13:20
you know, the, there, in other words, the, this top shingle here breaks half at the halfway point of the lower one
13:27
that's how it's, it's done, you know. So, um, so that these lines
13:33
you know, these, these like valleys, these little valleys, you know, line up every other one going up the roof
13:39
All right. So now get this, this is the only place where it's nailed each shingle
13:44
each one of these metal roof panels only gets one nail right there. So it's a very interesting system
13:50
All right. So not only do they, not on and here's what's important to them. Not only do they interlock this way
13:56
but they interlock at the side too. In other words, they, you know
14:02
as they go up, they'll interlock sidewalks. I know you can't, it's hard to tell
14:08
So, because of that interlock, Jennifer, could you imagine how hard it would be at a later date to take
14:17
one off? Now, if you knew what system it was and you knew that there's only one nail
14:22
you can get up underneath there and rip that nail out. And then now you've got that one shingle loose
14:28
But it's, uh, it's very problematic. The, these type of roofs are much harder to repair than an asphalt shingle roof
14:35
An asphalt shingle roof, it's very easy. Like, if you have one shingle go bad and you
14:41
I have a video showing you exactly how to do this. I recorded this video maybe 20 years ago
14:45
If you have a, one asphalt shingle or two or three, like maybe a branch falls down
14:50
messes up two or three shingles. It's really simple to, to lift up the tabs
14:56
take out the nails, um, slide up new shingles, nail them and
15:01
you know, as long as you do it in kind of warm weather, not in the middle of winter. So you don't crack a shingle
15:06
Um, you can make a repair and no one even knows that you made the repair and it's very simple to do the average homeowner
15:12
You can do this repair. Can you take one of these apart and put it back together? I doubt it
15:16
I doubt it. All right. So now one of the things that
15:22
you know, because I, I have, I have personally, I have never put one of these on, but I understand how the system works and
15:29
I, I knew it was gonna be a French cleat system. Now, if you have questions
15:33
remember, um, oh, the mic maybe. No wonder. No wonder you can't hear me
15:39
No wonder I'm such a dumb ass. Is that better, Jeez? Oh
15:43
Pete. Ok. Is that any better? Let me get this thing out of the way
15:49
Can you hear me now? Jeez. Pete. I'm not even in such a rush to start the computer
15:55
Um, I don't know how much latency there is in the chat better. Ok, great
15:58
thanks. Um, the, here's, here's what's interesting. If I, I wish I could upload a photo to show you you have to
16:07
understand on a steeper roof and really even a shallow one, they've got to put roof jacks up
16:13
They've got to like stand and work on boards, which means they have to have this metal thing that they nail to the roof above
16:20
a shingle. Well, the trouble is you to get that out to make it all work
16:27
they have to cut, they have to cut a notch here. Like they have to cut two
16:32
like where my fingers are, they might make it. Well, see, it would actually be right here. Be over towards the edge
16:37
They maybe would make a, they would take two cuts right here. I like they market. I know a white board
16:44
No, we're not using a white board. Uh, actually I've got news for you
16:48
The governor of New Hampshire has outlawed the use of white boards on uh
16:51
live streaming videos. So I'm sorry, I'm not allowed to use a flipping white board
16:55
So, so. All
17:05
right. So the roofer will take his tin snips and he will cut up this black line
17:11
cut up this black line and then he'll bend this up. All right
17:15
he'll bend it, he'll bend it back up 100 and 80 degrees and then he'll lay the roof jack on top of it and up
17:23
on this part of the roof up here, nail it in place. And the
17:29
um, when you go to take the roof apart, when, when you're done with the roof and you take the roof jacks down
17:37
you, they're made in such a way that you can tap, you can slide the roof jack up
17:41
it disconnects itself from the nails and then you slide it out and come down the roof
17:47
Now, the problem is, is that this, this shingle above it, you know
17:54
the, the shingle is in place, all right above it where, where the roof jack is? All right
17:59
And this roof that, that shingle has got that metal part here that
18:05
that the, the roof jack just slide. I know this is very complicated. I understand
18:10
But I'm trying to tell you is that at those spots where the roof jacks were
18:15
there is no long, there's not that, that, that, that French clique connection like this
18:21
All right. You know that, which is very water resistant, like in a blowing rain
18:27
it would be very hard to create a leak. Well, that does not exist because
18:32
remember the one metal they bent all the way flat. So, all you have is this and
18:38
and it's only bent up a half an inch above the other one
18:42
So, the trouble is in a really driving rainstorm, uh, like in a really violent rainstorm
18:51
Uh, I mean, the wind could easily blow rain up underneath that part of the roof and back behind the shingles
19:00
All right, for that to happen with an asphalt shingle. It's gotta blow up about five inches
19:07
All right. You know, I mean, sorry, seven inches, seven inches, it's gotta go up except
19:11
except where there's an overlap. It's then only gotta go up like two. All right. I'm just telling you that with one of these metal
19:18
roofing systems, if you're gonna use metal roof panels, you better have bulletproof underlayment un under the system
19:27
Uh, better yet. Gray ice and water shield the whole way. Uh
19:31
it, it's, um, and you have to use the right grace ice and water shield
19:35
You gotta make sure you use the one, the high temperature one because these metal roots gonna get hot
19:40
I'm just trying to tell you that in a blowing rainstorm, there are vulnerable points with at least this system
19:48
I, I don't know that it's the same with all metal roof panels, but I'm telling you this one's problematic
19:53
All right, let me check the, uh, um, let me check the comments
19:58
Steve's here. Uh, All right. There we go. Um, it is a Elaine that is a metal shingle
20:08
and it's made out of aluminum. So, yes. Hello. You lovely. Gender neutrals
20:17
Oh, my gosh. Um, why have four pinocchios for you? Ministry of two
20:23
Yes, you're exactly right. Exactly. Right. All right. Uh, do you have any questions about metal roof panels
20:30
Uh, metal roof panel? Questions, I'll take any and all right now, if you don't have any metal roof panel questions
20:34
I'll take questions about anything else. Uh Anything else about your house
20:39
anything else about? Um really anything, a lot of interesting stuff going on uh in the United States right now
20:47
A lot of, a lot of really crazy stuff. Uh A lot
20:51
a lot, it's just a huge three dimensional game of chess going on
20:55
It's crazy. I mean, it's crazy. Uh So crazy, crazy creature. Any questions about
21:03
let's see here, any questions about uh Hi Bob, how you doing
21:07
Uh any questions about metal roof panels? Um I don't, let's see
21:10
Jennifer had really good ones. You can paint them. Uh The key thing to painting is you just have to um the roofs really gotta
21:19
be clean. You have to wa you just have to wash it like you'd wash your car and the soap and water is fine
21:25
Uh just with like an RV brush. Uh Really rinse it. Well
21:31
you know, just just, it's gotta be clean and then of course, when you go to paint it
21:36
This is where everybody will make a mistake. Uh You have to try to paint it on an overcast day with a temperature like 5560
21:45
degrees. Like, do not the worst time to paint. It would be in the middle of the summer on a sunny day with breezy
21:54
The paint will dry too fast. You, you, you don't want the paint to dry too fast
22:01
Uh OK, Elaine says, why do you, why don't you explain the one to required for the metal panels
22:09
not the metal shingles? Uh, I would not explain it because I don't know
22:15
I don't know what it is. All right. And every manufacturer probably has different set of things
22:24
you have to do to make sure the warranty is in place. So, um
22:30
I, I, you know, it's kind of senseless for me to, to talk about warranty because I don't
22:33
we don't know which product we're talking about. And so you, you just have to read the
22:38
the, the warranty information yourself because you have to make sure that it's being installed
22:43
That's always the most important thing is if you're gonna get a metal roof installed yourself
22:49
like if you're gonna hire a roofer to do it, you have to get the instructions
22:54
the written instructions and you have to read them yourself. And here's the good news
22:59
Those things are written for people with an IQ of 80. All right
23:04
So it's not rocket science to understand it. And the reason you need to understand it is you need to then watch and make sure
23:13
they're gonna do it right. And in fact, the best thing is, is to have a very polite meeting the day before the roof starts
23:21
to go on with the contractor and with a roofer and the roofer's lead person on the job and you have a meeting and you
23:28
go over all the stuff you go over like, hey, this is uh blah
23:32
blah, blah, blah. I mean, you know, you cannot just assume it's gonna go on, right. Uh Yeah
23:42
cat on a hot tin roof there. Let me tell you, Steve roofs, 160 170 °F buddy
23:48
Really hot. Um Will's got a great question. Do people install the metal roof of shingles to um you
23:56
you don't get any insulating value out of the shingles? What's really bad about installing metal roofing directly on top of old shingles is understand
24:05
that the metal roof uh will can expand and contract and the underside
24:11
Like if it's steel, if it's steel roofing, you know, the underside might scratch along the
24:18
the Granules of the shingles and that could expose steel and then the underside
24:27
of these roofs will always condense, there's going to be condensation all the time and that's why it's so important to have really great underlayment
24:35
Otherwise you're gonna have leaks in the house. You don't have these condensation problems per se with asphalt shingles and
24:41
but it's really, really prevalent with, with metal, it just means that you have to
24:48
you have to account for that. You have to make sure the condensation does not leak the house
24:53
And the metal roofing manufacturers know about this and they cover, uh
24:57
how to deal with this in their installation instructions. And in most instances
25:02
you might have to install furring strips on top of the asphalt shingles to separate the metal roof from the asphalt
25:12
So that's, once again you have to take the responsibility. It's horrible
25:16
It's sad that you have to do this. I'm sorry. Um, you know, wouldn't it be nice if you could trust everybody to do a
25:22
great job? No, you can't trust everybody. So you have to read the instructions yourself and see what you have to do
25:29
Yes, you would have to send, you know, you're gonna, if, if you're gonna repaint
25:33
you've gotta, gotta do all the proper prep work. Absolutely. Uh, let's see
25:40
uh, most metal roofing systems that I'm aware of require total rip off to install
25:44
That's exactly right. That's exactly right. Elaine's right. Most of them do. So you
25:48
you have to read the instructions and read the warranty, simple as that
25:53
Uh, if you are here and you've not checked in, you should
25:57
um, if you don't like what I'm saying, you should, um, I mean
26:00
if you do, like what I'm saying, you should give a thumbs up. Uh, if you
26:05
um, have a story of your own that you wanna share, type it in the chat
26:10
Uh, if you have a question about anything else about your home, uh, put it in the chat
26:15
um, what, whatever, it doesn't matter. So it doesn't, doesn't matter. Uh
26:19
what else did I wanna share with you? Um, I, um, oh
26:29
I had a phone, I had an interview today at one o'clock. So that was 3.5 hours ago
26:36
I'm getting ready to write a column. A new column. I haven't done this topic in a long time about geothermal uh heating and geothermal
26:44
cooling and was talking to one of the experts here in the nation
26:48
And what's really interesting is how you would expect this to happen, that the technology would change over time and in the old days
26:57
really, all they did is they just talked about having a closed loop system
27:02
A lot of very similar to how AAA standard automobile in the United States or maybe the U United Kingdom works
27:09
you know, a water cooled engine. So think about your water cooled engine
27:13
You have a closed loop of liquid, you know, with hoses and you got a radiator and then the water channels
27:20
you know, jacket goes around the engine and the water is moving around. There's a pump
27:24
a water pump to keep the water moving around the engine. You know
27:28
it, it goes to the engine, the water gets heated up and then the water comes out of the engine goes to the top of
27:33
the radiator flows down the radiator and then it's through the bottom of it by that
27:38
you know, it's getting rid of the heat and then, you know, it goes back to the engine starts the whole thing all over again
27:42
All right. Well, that's how it used to be with geothermal. In other words
27:46
they would, they would take a pipe and, and create a big loop
27:51
a closed loop and put this loop, you know, in the ground uh in a pond
27:57
wherever, whatever a AAA and, and then it dissipates the heat into the ground and then
28:03
and then it either heats the, the, the, the pipe or cools it depending on the time of year
28:09
So the guy says on the interview, he says, well, that the um um the current technology as long as
28:18
is the house, the location has got enough water flow in the well is just to use an open loop
28:24
And I go, what are you talking about? He says, well, we, we don't have to drill a separate. Well, you don't have to have
28:28
a pond. You just take the regular, well, where your drinking water is and you've got the line coming out of the
28:34
well, you just tee off that line and you run that line to the
28:38
to the Geothermal Air handler to, to where the heat exchanger is
28:42
and you just use that water that's 55 degrees flowing over the
28:48
the coil. And then once it's the heat transfer is done, that water is taken right back outside and put right back in the aquifer
28:56
And I said, are you kidding me? That's gonna significantly reduce the cost of putting these systems
29:02
And he said, exactly. But, but the key thing is your water well, has
29:06
has to have enough flow. You have to have probably 10 gallons a minute of flow to
29:12
to make this work. All right. So, um, it's just a really
29:17
it's gonna be a really interesting column to write. All right. So, all right
29:22
let's see here. Let me get caught up. Um. All right, Bob's got a question
29:29
What is the best shingle weight for asphalt roofing selection? Well, um
29:32
Bob, huh, I wrote a, you know, I wrote this book about six years ago called Roofing Rip Off
29:38
Really interesting book to write. Uh, I, it was really, I was so lucky to have my newsletter list
29:44
I put out the call on my newsletter list. Does anybody happen to have any old shingles still on a pack in their garage
29:53
In a shed? In a crawl space, blah, blah, blah. Uh, you know
29:57
I'm talking about shingles made in the 19 seventies, a guy in Harrison
30:01
Ohio. I, I mean, right around the corner from where I lived. I mean, seriously
30:07
Yep, I got them. Not only do I have the shingles? I
30:12
I, um, I've got the original receipt when I picked him up
30:17
He, he sent me the receipt, he sent me some shingles. I, I paid him for the postage and
30:23
um, the old shingles bob. So get this, the old shingles that I used to install back in the 19 seventies weighed 240 pounds a
30:31
square. So that's 80 pounds of bundle new shingles right now. If you go weigh them
30:37
I did this, I did this for the book. I, I bought a bunch of new shingles. Uh
30:41
they're significantly thinner. Um I was getting weights of about 100 and 80 100 and 85 pounds a square
30:50
So there's 60 pounds less of asphalt in modern shingles and people wonder why they fail
30:59
right? So, um, y you know, you, you can just look to see
31:06
um, you can look to see what the weight is on the packaging
31:11
I just don't think you're gonna find many, I don't know that you can even get any today that are like the old ones
31:15
240 pounds a square. What you wanna get? You? First of all
31:19
you should read the chapters, the free chapters in my book, a roofing rip off
31:23
So if you go to roofing, roofing, rip off.com, go to roofing and then just click the free button
31:29
read the, the, the three chapters, the three or four chapters and what you'll find out is later in the book you wanna get shingles
31:39
that have the styrene bead styrene additives. So s so the letter S you know
31:46
just like a Sierra bravo, Sierra, you know, styrene, buid styrene. All right
31:54
Uh Where's si know, white board? Whiteboard. Well, I'm sorry, go look up the governor's executive orders
32:01
man. So SBS SBS, you want the SBS additive? All right. And
32:06
and the shingles you get that, you put copper on top, you're gonna be in good shape
32:11
It doesn't really matter what the weight is. All right. Here we go
32:16
Let's see. Uh Vanessa. Hello. Uh Brent. I have a 1.5 to 12
32:22
mid century modern roof, one length of the roof is nearly 60 ft. Think of using standard
32:26
same double lock. What are the feeling of this? Um That's a great question
32:31
Like, what do I think about that for a low pitch roof? Dude
32:37
that is, that's actually a fan. That's such a great question. I don't think you realize how good of a question that is
32:43
It, it ties back into what I just said a few minutes ago about reading the installation instructions
32:50
You have to look at the roofing material because different roofing materials have got different um specifications
32:59
For example, traditional regular asphalt shingles, the manufacturers will tell you like do not like it's real iffy
33:07
They say it's really iffy. If you put these on a 3, 12 pitch roof, like it may or may not work
33:14
Uh, it's, and like, and like the border line is 412, like a 412 pitch
33:18
They'll go, ok. Ok. It'll, it'll work, but 312, maybe 212, forget about it
33:24
It's gonna leak guaranteed. Leak. All right. So you need to look at the roof and the material you like and
33:33
then you need to reach out to the manufacturer, try to get the installation instructions
33:37
Maybe they're downloadable from the website, read the installation. See if they say in there minimum roof pitch gotta be this
33:45
And I'm just telling you from experience to stay away from minimums
33:50
Um, in other words, if they were to say minimum is 212 in your head
33:54
you may go, I'm good. I'm good. Well, to me, that means it's like getting 70 in a test
34:02
All right. So if you get a 70 in the old days in a test, it means you just barely passed in any event
34:09
I can tell you this, make sure that that roofing manufacturer is ok with putting gray ice and water shield under
34:18
that section of the roof. The whole thing. In other words, if you've got a low slope roof like that
34:23
I, I just don't want any chance of a leak. I mean, roof leaks are just nightmares there
34:28
I get so many emails, there's, they cause so much pain and frustration to homeowners
34:33
And now we, we've had this magic product for 3540 years and most people don't use it
34:39
It, it's gray, I and water shield. If you put it over the whole roof and you do it right
34:46
I don't care what happens, you're not gonna have a leak. All right. So it
34:50
you know, is it, is it worth that peace of mind? I do. Of course it is. That's the answer
34:56
Elaine, we once looked at some beautiful property up near the Virginia line
35:02
Every, the commonwealth of Virginia, every building and both homes had metal roof inside
35:07
Yes. Unfortunately, the roofer screwed the metal into the field. Uh So
35:11
Right. Yes, you got it once again that once again goes right back to the installation instructions
35:16
You have to read them yourself and you have to understand how the roof is supposed to be installed
35:22
Chris I got a new asphalt shingle roof for about 15 grand
35:26
I would have liked metal, but it would have cost three times or it could be depend
35:30
you know, the, the different metal roofs cost different amounts. Um, I would be th this roof down the street from me
35:38
the, the home, it's such a cut up roof. There was not a doubt in my mind
35:41
it was very expensive, but, um, it was out in the field
35:46
In other words, when, when that roofer was away from skylights and away and away from valleys
35:51
this stuff went in. So I was standing there watching them for a while. It went in so fast
35:56
I mean, only one nail for shingle as fast as you could slide one up over
36:00
Now, up, over now, up over. I mean, it was remarkable. I mean
36:05
you could, you could install this metal roof, this metal roof, I'm telling you will install faster than an asphalt shingle roof
36:12
All right. So, uh, I mean, it's just aluminum. I mean, so I
36:17
I'd be really curious to see what, what the cost was per square of that material
36:22
All right. Uh, Robert, uh, it's not off topic there there. That's a great thing
36:27
You said that there's no such thing as off topic questions. Uh, you can ask anything you want
36:32
I just start out the live stream to talk about a topic and then we go
36:37
we might go to Roe versus Wade. We might go to the illness
36:42
We might go to, uh, me being a train conductor. Um, there's so many things we could talk about
36:49
All right. Here's your question. Of course, ask any question you want
36:53
What's your deck cleaning question? I'm happy to answer it when
37:07
I can park. I'll ask, he's out driving. All right. Be careful
37:11
buddy. No, no. Uh, no. Uh, you know who we, you know
37:17
who used to drive around and, and, and watch the live stream. Three back
37:21
It was back in February, January or February was Alex from L A
37:24
Alex. I don't know what happened. I don't know if he got abducted Alex. You know
37:28
here's what happened. He just kind of swooped into the live stream. Makes the bet about the Rams versus the Bengals
37:36
He lucks out. They luck out. I mean, they luck but the Bengals thank God that many
37:41
how they had a chance to win it and, and they don't
37:44
and I'm out a box of pecans, dark chocolate Aloys pecan. I send them out to Alex the next morning he eats them
37:54
Uh, he goes on a vacation and then we never hear from him again
37:59
What, what's up with that? All right. All right, Jennifer, are there better metal roof panel colors than others
38:06
Um, I don't think so. No, I, I think I would stay away from white
38:13
Uh, I think that the white would get dirty white would just like anything else just like wearing white clothes
38:19
It's gonna show dirt right away. Um, I, I, um, no, I don't
38:26
I don't think any one color is gonna last longer or the other. I just, I think that you
38:31
I think that's a really great question to ask the manufacturer. Uh
38:35
you know, what kind of, what kind of lifespan they're getting from their paints and the
38:40
the obvious question to ask if you can, if you can get them to answer it is
38:43
hey, can you give me the addresses near me of just, um
38:48
I don't know, 22 places that have that puts your roof on 20 years ago
38:53
How, how nice would it be to go look at the roof 20 years later? Um Sure
39:00
So yeah, silver is a better reflector. Um black. Yeah, but the trou here's the trouble Jennifer is that the silver is great for reflecting
39:09
the heat. Um But, but no matter what he here's what happens
39:15
I I've got, I've got, if you go to my website, ask the voter.com and you type into the search engine
39:20
infrared photos. So I have a whole page of all types of different infrared photos
39:26
I've taken from a around here around my house with a flare camera and the roof
39:31
the roof temperatures get my, here at my house, the roof gets about 100 and 60 degrees on a June day
39:37
And, and, and so the shingles heat up, they transfer that heat very quickly to the roof deck
39:44
they transfer that heat very quickly to the rafters. And so when you go inside the attic
39:51
I don't know, at two o'clock, like after the sun's been beaten on the flipping roof and we're past solar noon
39:57
And I mean, the attic could be 100 and 40 100 and 50 degrees
40:02
right? Because, because, you know, it's just think of the whole roof structure as being like a campfire of
40:10
of glowing embers. All right. So even if you have a silver painted roof
40:16
I, I mean, here, here's the proof in the pudding. If you
40:20
if you have a vehicle that has a chrome bumper, you know, it's a chrome, I mean
40:24
bright chrome that's reflective as can be. It looks like a mirror and you have that car parked out in the sun
40:32
Why don't you put your hand on the chrome bumper and tell me how long you can keep your hand there
40:38
I don't know. It's, it's gonna, the, the bumper could easily be 100 and 30 100 and 40 degrees
40:44
So the, the reflective paint doesn't, doesn't necessarily stop the heat transfer
40:50
All right. All right. Let's see. Here we go. What's the best way to remove iron water stains on
40:59
plastic? Um, I would, I would, I would get a very small amount of
41:05
um, I would get some white vinegar. First of all, that's the mildest acid of all
41:11
Take some white vinegar, put it on a flipping Q tip, you know
41:14
a cotton swab. All right. And just like, like do this when it's dry
41:21
just take one drop of the flipping white vinegar and put it on one spot of the iron stain
41:27
Let it work for a little bit and then maybe an hour and then dab it off with a clean paper towel and look at
41:34
the white paper towel and if that turns orange victory. All right
41:38
that, you know, you know, that you are getting it off. All right
41:43
It may take more applications, but that's what I would start with most of the other acids are
41:48
are really aggressive. So try that, let me know what happens. What color would you choose
41:55
Elaine? Um, well, I mean, uh, you know, Jennifer, for me, if you want my opinion
42:02
you know, a brown or a green like this green, this is a pretty attractive roof
42:06
If I want, I'm gonna go back and take a photo of the whole roof. It's a pretty attractive roof
42:11
Um, so I, I don't know. I mean, you're out in the country
42:15
Red seems to be a good color, you know, for traditional like shed roofs and
42:20
and barn roofs that the farmers typically painted them with that red oxide
42:24
paint iron oxide, Elaine, I didn't saw both Ed PM and Metal Pans G for a commercial company and not resident back there
42:31
Ok, Steve, do you have ego roosts in the US where uh we've had a few
42:37
they were just a joke. Just a big flipping joke. The flipping. I'll tell you where I saw my first one in Cincinnati when that
42:44
whole movement was happening. Uh like 20 years or so ago, the bank that I used to go to
42:51
um, they, they, you had to come down this hill to, to
42:55
to get to the bank and you could see the roof. All right. And so
43:00
you know, this bank is trying to be ecofriendly, they advertise in the paper so they plant this ecosystem up on top of the roof
43:09
and, and you go there a month later and it's, it looks like the Atacama Desert
43:14
everything is brown, everything is dead. Now it's become a fire hazard
43:19
I, it just, it, you know, they're just so stupid. It's so stupid
43:25
I, I mean, oh my God. Like, do they not know how hot it gets on these roofs
43:31
And then, you know, then, I mean, think about this, you, you go
43:37
you might go three weeks, four weeks in Cincinnati with no rain. And so you expect the plants to live
43:43
Are you kidding me? Oh, but, oh, so that, now let's get up there and water
43:47
Oh, now we're gonna spend all this money to water like idiots flipping idiots
43:57
Uh, is there any concern about catching rainwater? No, not. I don't have any concerns about it at all
44:02
All right. Uh, Bob Bob's part. All right. Go cedar deck. Yes
44:06
Ok. Um, easy. Just use my stain solver. I'm trying to find it
44:11
Oh, here it is. This is a great product to clean your cedar deck
44:18
Go to stains sover.com type the word cedar. Just ce dar into the search engine
44:26
And then I don't know that you'll see a cedar deck, but you're gonna see different before and after photos of cedar houses where people
44:34
have used it in the before and after is just remarkable, fantastic cleaner for
44:39
for cedar. So, and it tells you step by step on those pages how to do it
44:49
Yes. Elaine's wright, uh, you're gonna get, you're gonna get color fade no matter what you're
44:53
I, I just explained that before you've got these active photons and they're just gonna blow up the flipping
44:59
uh, you know, the, the paint. So Jennifer, what I would do if you're concerned about that
45:05
you need to be asking questions, um, to the metal roofing companies very specific and they have to give you specific answers
45:14
about. Tell me what is in your paint that, that uh it makes them UV resistant
45:21
that they resist the photons because we already know you can buy the um I have
45:26
we have a um I forget the trademark name. Uh We have a
45:30
an umbrella for our outdoor patio or table on our deck. This umbrella um is
45:39
um it's got to be 20 years old. It came from Cincinnati
45:45
We used to have this umbrella at the table in Cincinnati. It's got uh there's a trademark name
45:51
sun something, sun, it's not sunscreen, sunblock. I don't know, sun something
45:56
And um I'm telling you art that umbrella, whatever they've got incorporated into that fabric
46:04
It looks like the day I bought it, it has not shredded
46:08
it has not fallen apart 20 years old. So that technology exists
46:14
I mean, eventually, if I left it out, it, it would eventually fail. So you just need to Jennifer
46:19
you just need to, to pin the manufacturers to the wall with some tough questions and say
46:25
hey, I Tim Carter told me all about photons. I know that the paint's gonna flipping fade
46:31
Um, there are these patio umbrellas. I can go look it up. Here's the trademark name
46:36
Um, well, tell me what you've got in your paint to make that. So your colors don't fade that
46:41
that, so don't just pick a color and hope it's not gonna fade
46:45
That's the last thing to do. All right, let me get caught up
46:50
Um, here we go. Um, cedar deck, refinished successor last
46:59
year, semi transparent big box brand Sealer dog peas. It all out of there. Ok
47:03
Um, no problem. I don't have trouble with that. Um, let me get caught up here
47:12
Uh, will, thinks that he wants to put sheep up on the roof. Ok
47:16
I don't know how you're gonna get him back down. Um, well
47:22
Robert, um, you, I, as far as it's, I mean, I just
47:29
I, I just put out an, uh, a deck stain test results if you go to my website and type deck stain test results
47:37
um, you'll see, uh, a, a document that you can get. Um
47:42
that tells you what I've been using and so far after two years it looks fantastic
47:47
Uh I'll maybe, maybe get four years out of it. You're not gonna get a hard, you're not
47:50
I don't think there's any product that exists. You'll get more than four years and even after three years
47:55
it may be a little shabby. Uh, the problem with the dog urine is that
47:59
um, very acidic. Uh, I don't have any trouble with the dog going to the bathroom out there
48:05
But if you know the dog is doing it, if you don't have a hose out there or if you don't
48:10
if you can't take a bucket of water, you, you need to dilute, you need to rinse that urine off as quickly as possible because
48:17
if you don't do that, you're just, you're gonna, you're gonna get some problems. So I would just
48:22
I don't care that the dog's doing it out there. I would just rinse it off sorella
48:26
That's it. That's exactly right. Thank you, Elaine. That's it. Um No
48:35
well, no, Robert, what you wanna do is uh go to the Stain Silver website
48:39
I have videos there. I have um columns about deck clean. I tell you
48:45
I tell you step by step how to clean the deck. So just go to Stains solver.com and
48:50
and look at the fa Q uh look at the videos. Uh It's so simple to use
48:56
You can't believe it. The key thing with using it is I always apply it to a dry surface because II I
49:02
if it's bare wood or whatever, I want the stain solver to soak into the wood
49:07
So just go, if you have any questions after you've gone through all that work and seen all the videos
49:13
just reach out to us on the Stain Solver website. Um, no
49:20
once you use Stain Solver and you scrub and you do exactly what we say
49:24
Just once again, these are all great questions, by the way, uh
49:29
once you've done everything I show in the videos you just rinse it off with plenty of water
49:33
just take a hose. Doesn't have to be, don't use a pressure washer
49:36
Just a regular hose. You, if, if you wanna scrub it a little bit with a clean brush
49:42
uh, it doesn't take hardly any effort to rinse the stain solver off
49:46
And then you get back to a neutral ph of seven on the deck because that most water is really
49:51
really close to a APH of seven. Um, all right. Let's see here
49:57
Uh, I don't know. LV. Uh, let's see here. Um, all right
50:03
Let me get caught. Sunset are awning. I don't know. Yeah, the sunset are awnings
50:06
I'm sure they've got a UV protector in it too. The same thing. Um
50:11
Steve Meadow Rose wants to know how is the news looking to you? I Steve
50:15
I, um, it's a really here, I'll, I'll come on the news a little bit
50:20
It's a really interesting, um, past couple of weeks. Um, ok, understand that
50:28
I'm not a, uh, I'm not a professional pundit ever. And if Steve
50:33
are you still here, Steve will tell you old silver top. So
50:38
my knowledge comes because I've turned this color. All right. And I think what we're experiencing
50:49
There's, it, it's a, it's a, it's a three dimensional, here's the best way to
50:53
I think, to describe it. What's happening is a three dimensional chess game
50:59
I mean, chess at, at two dimensions, hard enough to play at three dimensions
51:04
Like, oh my gosh. All right now. So, and remember what I've said in the past
51:13
All right. I, I keep, I keep going back to this, but to me it's true
51:18
If you have not read book one of Game of Thrones or you have not watched the first season of that television show
51:27
I beg you to do it. And the only reason why is the
51:33
the author George RR Martin who, who wrote the book, I don't know
51:36
20 or 25 years ago, he was an older guy. He, he had figured it out
51:40
I mean, he, he saw around him what, what's happening in real time
51:46
If you just study history a little bit, just a tiny bit
51:50
you'll know that history, that history and what's happening now are just about three things
51:57
Just three things. That's all money, power and sex, those three things
52:03
Money, power, six. And it can be in different orders for different people
52:07
Sex, power, money, power, money, si I already said that money, sex power
52:14
All right. So you can arrange them different ways. But those are the three driving forces of the people behind
52:24
the news besides the fuzzy stories besides the, you know, the the the
52:28
you know, there's all kinds of fuzzy stories. But, but so when you start to look at everything from that perspective
52:34
I think it helps you understand what's going on now, what's happening here in America
52:41
So, so here's what's um he he here, here's like, let's just take one thing that happened over the past 2 to 3 days
52:48
So let's take the unprecedented leak of the draft of the decision about Roe versus Wade
52:59
So start to unpack that and look what happened is so I went to bed
53:04
II, I go to bed at like 8, 20 minutes after eight
53:08
That's when I go back and kiss Cathy. Good night. Uh I go back and read for about 40 minutes and then I'm lights out
53:16
at nine o'clock. So she tells me at nine o'clock two nights ago
53:21
maybe it was three, I don't know, 2 to 3, whatever, it doesn't matter. Let's see what's today Wednesday
53:25
So I think it was Monday night, all of a sudden breaking news and all of a sudden there's already a
53:35
crowd of people at the Supreme Court chanting and they already have signs made up
53:44
Now. Now, do you understand, think about that in the, in the way that news typically happens the way in the old days
53:54
the something happens. Let's just talk about, let's just talk about a fire
54:01
Let's talk about something normal, something happens. Somebody calls the police department or the fire department
54:09
the, the news, just so, you know, in the old days, I mean, I used to work for
54:12
uh, uh, the ABC and NBC TV affiliate in Cincinnati. They had in the
54:18
in the, in the newsroom they had three or four or five scanners
54:22
Radio scanners, I mean, the scanners, the lights are constantly going off and they would
54:27
and they, they would hear the news, the guy on duty, the head guy
54:32
he would hear every fire truck dispatched, he would hear every police call
54:36
He would hear everything that goes across the radio. And so he may hear uh
54:44
fire reported at 123 main street fire. And then all of a sudden across the radio
54:50
uh additional alarm, additional alarm, you know, all of a sudden it's a fire alarm
54:54
fire that may happen in just three minutes. Well, there's no way
54:59
In other words, the fire call just got called in. It has not even yet been broadcast yet on the news
55:06
It's not even been transmitted anywhere. I'm talking, not yesterday. I'm talking about the old days
55:12
No, Twitter, no internet back then. So the general population has no idea that the fire is even happening
55:20
The only people that know the fire is happening are the people at the building and maybe across the street and the fire department
55:26
That's it. But magically the instant that the news media here's about Roe
55:35
versus Wade leak. Oh, there's been a leak. There's all these people with signs made up standing at the Supreme Court
55:45
Do you get that? Ha. Have you ever made one of those signs before
55:51
How long does it take you to drive from your house to the Supreme Court? It's everybody's being played
56:01
All right. How many times have I said this? Everybody, me, you
56:09
everybody, Elaine Jennifer Robert LV, eight bit vinyl, Steve
56:18
and L all being played. But some of us are smart enough. We know we're being played and we know how to defend against it
56:25
So that whole thing was all set up. All right. And then
56:30
and then for what it's worth once again, think three dimensions. All right
56:35
Do you know what was supposed to happen that same night? Did you know that it was the premiere of
56:44
the? I don't know if I'm going to pronounce his name, right? Denise de Soza
56:48
his, his, his documentary 2000 mules about the massive vote fraud in 2020
56:56
So, I mean, once again, remember your, your plan, sex, power, money
56:59
right? Sex, power, money, money, power, sex. So the news is controlled by those three things
57:08
All right. And current events controlled by those three things and the people that are in power don't want to lose it
57:16
Power is intoxicating. Oh my gosh. Right. So when you start to look at all the data and you go
57:26
you go www what are the odds? What are the flipping odds that there would be this crowd of 50 or 100
57:35
people that just happened to be. I mean, I've been there, I've been to the steps of the Supreme Court
57:43
It's right up there by the US Capitol. What do you think the odds are that at that time of night
57:47
On a Monday night? You got these people just happen to be there
57:52
They just happened to have with them nails and sticks and poster board and magic markers
58:04
So anyway, bad stuff. All right enough of that. Um, so you ask me
58:13
um, um, I'll, I'll get to the comments you submit. Um, fir
58:22
uh, first thing I'm, I, I it's too early to tell about Elon Musk. All right
58:26
I think Elon Musk, my money is on Elon Musk being a good guy and if I'm right
58:34
if, if, and, and this will play out. I understand the whole Elon Musk and Twitter thing is gonna take another four or five months
58:39
to play out because here in America, the sales gotta get approved
58:43
It's just like real estate. You, you know, it's not like going in and buying a loaf of bread
58:47
All right. When you decide to buy a company for, for $45 billion you don't go in and just put $45 down and the next
58:54
day you own it, it, it's, it's a, it's, it's a months long process. If Elon does what he
59:03
says he's gonna do what he's alluded to history. We put Elon Musk
59:12
right underneath the founding fathers. In my, this is my opinion, Elon will actually be more important than
59:21
Abraham Lincoln. So it's gonna be founding fathers, Elon Musk. Abraham Lincoln
59:27
All right, because he, he, he if he does what he says
59:34
um because understand that the people in power, they want to control the conversation
59:42
That's why all the censorship was going on right here, even on this platform
59:46
That's why I, I mean, if you're new to the platform, if you're new to the builder
59:50
I, I don't say this word, you know, the word that begins with that letter, you know
59:54
you know what that is and, and uh and that's this word
59:57
there's another word, a big word, the last two years begins with this letter. All right
1:00:01
I don't say those. All right, because I'll get banned. All right
1:00:06
Um The censor and because they think that I'm giving out disinformation since
1:00:15
when are, since, when are they the arbiters of, of information? And here in America
1:00:20
I think still maybe in the UK, where Steve lives, we have the right of first
1:00:25
we have the first amendment. Now, I know that this is a privately uh I mean, this is a
1:00:28
a business but, but for Twitter, it, it became like the, the
1:00:34
the di digital Town Square. So it's a totally different beast as is youtube
1:00:39
But anyway, anyway, Elon, in other words, if, if you understand what fascism is
1:00:50
and when you, when you live in a fascist state and, and
1:00:55
and, and the, the conversation is being controlled, I mean, meaning like if you have a dissenting opinion
1:01:01
no matter what it is. Um, and the, the people that are in power say no
1:01:07
no, no, go over there, sit down and shut up. That's basically what they're saying
1:01:13
And if it's a bad enough fascist state, they'll shut you up permanently
1:01:17
They'll kill you. All right, because the people that are in power who might be doing bad things
1:01:22
they don't want that exposed. All right. That's, that's remember. Game of Thrones. Power
1:01:27
money, sex. All right. That's what power money, sex. That's the fuel that runs everything I hate
1:01:33
You may disagree with me, but I can, I can prove that that's the case. All right
1:01:37
So that's what's controlling everything. I actually think that what's happening on a big scale
1:01:44
Steve and then I'll move on. I think the next six months here in the United States are going to be
1:01:55
they're gonna be epic. It's gonna be a major paradigm shift on a
1:02:02
uh social and political scale. The bad news is, is there is a financial storm brewing
1:02:11
right now. I watched a video this morning, uh, really troubling. Um It turned out that this video just became
1:02:20
a big, it was just a big long form sales letter. It was really kind of disappointing
1:02:24
But the 1st 20 minutes that were pretty good. I am here to tell you it's really bad news
1:02:32
I've been talking here about inflation and whatever. It's actually worse than what I thought
1:02:39
And you, you, if you're watching this, if you're watching this live stream right now and
1:02:48
and you don't understand how bad the inflation is, but it's not only is it bad
1:02:53
it's not going to go away and I could talk for a whole live stream about why it's really bad
1:03:01
It's really bad. So you, you need to be in a position where you are able to buy things
1:03:10
is all I can tell you. Here's what you're gonna start seeing if you haven't seen it already
1:03:15
I'll tell you this right now and this is kind of sad
1:03:19
All right, there are people, I'm not gonna name any names, but there are people on this stream
1:03:23
You are gonna start to see people who are retired and who wanted to be retired
1:03:30
They're gonna go back to work. All right. All
1:03:39
right. Here we go. Let me get caught up. There's a lot, I've got really uh really all kinds
1:03:43
Here we go. Robert, sorry officer. I know I was doing 80 but I'm writing ask the builder officer
1:03:54
So, so Robert just so you know, that goes back. I don't know if Jason's here
1:03:58
Ja Jason is our expert, Resident Lurker. God bless Jason, by the way
1:04:03
God bless him. I swear the people in Indianapolis and are so lucky to have Jason because they're gonna have food
1:04:12
The, um, I wish it was true. Uh, Robert II, I, in a way I do
1:04:19
I wish it was true that people, like a normal police officer would go
1:04:22
Oh, Tim Carter? Oh, ask the builder. Got it. You're good, man
1:04:26
Go if you did that. I'm pretty confident the officer go. What the hell are you talking about
1:04:35
Who's that loser? Robert About urine? Yeah. Just rinse the urine off
1:04:43
Just get, it's ok that the dog does that. I don't have trouble with that
1:04:46
All right. Just rinse it off right away. The sooner the better Elaine loves stain silver
1:04:52
I do too. It's really, really good product. Um, here we go. Uh
1:04:56
here's a good question J and D. You know, can you route your down spouse into a French drain
1:05:03
Yes. No, no. You, that's a great, by the way, it's, it's a teaching moment
1:05:07
So I'm gonna answer your question. Yes, you can do that. Here's something else you can do
1:05:16
You can go out into your yard and you can take a shovel and you can dig up some dirt and put it in a
1:05:23
bucket and you can come inside and you can dump the dirt in your toilet and flush it
1:05:27
I mean, you can do that. I I'm telling you I can do it right now
1:05:31
Here at my house. Am I gonna do it? No. So the power is always in the question and
1:05:37
and I know what you were asking. I, I got it. Uh The answer is you would never want to put down spout rainwater in
1:05:44
a linear French drain system. Uh Because the whole point of the linear French drain system is to siphon water out of the soil
1:05:53
So the down spouts are just gonna inject water into the soil
1:05:57
So you wanna pipe the down spouts through solid pipe in a completely different piping system out to the lowest part of your yard
1:06:05
So do not do not introduce downspout roof water into a linear French drain system
1:06:13
Steve Ha. Have you heard Tim as realtor uh law trying to pass no commission for buyer's agent
1:06:20
listening agent to do full transaction. Uh I've not heard of that law. Um I used to be a broker in Ohio for 25 years
1:06:29
Um trying to pass a law, no commission for buyer's agent. Uh That would be a bad law just so
1:06:35
you know, by the way, uh in the old days, just, you know, here's the, here's the way you live
1:06:39
Real estate used to be practiced and a lot of people were not aware of it in the old days and I'm going back to
1:06:48
the 19 seventies. All right, in 19 seventies. And before there was no such thing as buyer agency
1:06:54
it did not exist. What happened is back in those days, the realtors they got paid by the seller
1:07:04
And if you read the contract, if most people never read the contracts
1:07:08
I mean, I read them, I was a broker. If you read the contracts
1:07:12
the agents swear their allegiance to the seller. Have you got, do you understand that
1:07:22
they are swearing an oath saying we are going to do everything possible to get you the highest price
1:07:32
And of course, the higher the price is, what does that mean
1:07:36
It means that the realtor makes more money. The poor buyer was like a lamb being led to slaughter
1:07:44
So if the poor buyer did not really understand this relationship, well
1:07:48
even if you had your, had another realtor, that was not the listing agent
1:07:53
that other realtor is swearing an allegiance to the seller. This is the old days
1:07:59
And if you, and if he didn't tell you that and disclose that and most didn't, then if you
1:08:04
if you were to say things like, like if you were in a negotiation and saying, well, I know they
1:08:09
they're asking 35,000, I'm talking in the old days, right? I, I like my first house that I sold
1:08:13
I sold it for $35,000. So let's just say, um, you're the buyer and you're talking with your agent and it's not the listing agent
1:08:22
and you go, well, I know they're asking 35 but um let's offer 32
1:08:32
see what happens. But if they stick on the 35 III I
1:08:38
I've got the money. I, I'll do it. So the poor buyer is telling that to the realtor in confidence
1:08:46
So the realtor puts the offer in and basically kind of says probably could get more money
1:08:57
That's the way it used to be. So now though, now we have
1:09:02
we've had for years, for 3540 years, we've had buyer brokerage in
1:09:05
in the United States. So the y you as a buyer could hire a broker who works on your behalf to get the price
1:09:14
as low as possible. But it gets a little fuzzy because sometimes they have in their agreements where the seller says
1:09:22
Ok. Ok. Ok. I get it. You know, it's gonna be an old fashioned type negotiation
1:09:26
I agree to pay the buyer's broker. I agree to pay that the
1:09:31
the buyer doesn't have to pay anything. Well, the buyer is actually paying it. He's paying it
1:09:34
It's built into the price. All right. It's just like free shipping. Who do you think I sell stain silver
1:09:41
I offer free shipping. Do you think I'm paying for the flipping shipping? Are you crazy
1:09:46
I'm not paying for it. You're paying for it. Come on, wake up
1:09:52
You know that, you know that right? We just, the price of everything is just raised to cover the cost of the shipping
1:10:00
So, so you're paying the brokerage either way as the buyer, but at least you have a broker now
1:10:08
Um, who is working on your behalf and they don't like if you say
1:10:12
say secret stuff to your broker and it's a buyer broker and you've got an agreement with him
1:10:18
He doesn't tell that to the seller's broker. Like, screw you. I'm not telling you anything
1:10:25
Steve the best looking silver top at that Brandon metal roof. Question
1:10:29
Can you talk about low pitch roof and what metal panel? Yes, I can
1:10:33
Um I talked about that a little earlier. Uh Brent you, when you have a low slope situation
1:10:40
you want to look at the roofing materials that you like like
1:10:45
oh, I like the way that looks and then you go to their installation instructions and typically in the installation instructions
1:10:52
they will tell you the lowest slope roof that you can use it on and I would stay away from that
1:10:59
Meaning I would, in other words, if they say it's OK to put it on a 212 pitch roof
1:11:05
I me as your builder, I would go, I'm not doing it
1:11:10
I'm not doing it. I would try to convince you if we're building a house. If you want that roof
1:11:14
then let's make the roof 312 pitch, let's make it steeper or at the very least you can't change the pitch
1:11:24
Then put Grace Ice and water shield under the whole roof under the o on the sheathing as long as the metal roofing manufacturers
1:11:31
OK? With it, it's a Multivariate problem. So you have to find out from the metal roofing manufacturer
1:11:36
What that roofing product is rated to do Steve when people go crazy for food supplies and toilet paper with a low mortality
1:11:46
rate with. Yes. Yeah, exactly. It's just, uh, exactly. Exactly. You're exactly right
1:11:53
Said it for sure. I remember police scanners being very popular. Yeah. Uh, hair isn't as white
1:11:58
hair is white as the lens. Hair is not as white as mine
1:12:02
Mine's pretty white. Where, where did you, where do you see somebody like Elon Musk in the Game of Thrones
1:12:10
Um I'm trying to think of all the characters. Um Well, I would say Lord
1:12:19
Stark, you know, but Lord Stark, um I, if I don't wanna
1:12:23
well, I'm not gonna, I don't wanna spoil anything. Um I would say Lord Stark was and um
1:12:35
if you know the game, if you know how the game of Thrones is played
1:12:39
well, it's on my business card. I here I like, you know
1:12:46
I like the game of thr I mean, my son was the one who had me read the book uh over a year ago
1:12:50
He said start reading it, dad. And the reason why is because I'm, if I can pull this together
1:12:55
I don't know if I can. Um I might ii I, I've got, I've had this idea
1:12:59
I had this idea that came to me four years ago to write a children's
1:13:04
Uh it's like a Harry Potter series is the best way to describe it. It's aimed at kids who liked Harry Potter
1:13:10
which are like 89, 10 year olds. All right. And many adults like Harry Potter. But I have this idea and my son is an
1:13:15
expert in all this. I'm just, I know people love and they dote on their kids
1:13:20
I'm here to tell you, my son is an expert on all this fantasy stuff
1:13:27
Four years ago, I'm sitting with him and I tell him my idea and he was speechless and
1:13:37
he said dead, that's an amazing idea. He said, dad, that's a really good idea
1:13:45
He said, you really should write that series because he, he, he thinks I'm a really good writer
1:13:50
He's a good writer too. But then he said, then, then he tempered me
1:13:54
you know, he's, he pulled me back down to earth. He said, but he says
1:13:58
I don't think you have any idea how hard it is to do. And as a result
1:14:02
he says, you've got a bunch of homework to do. And, and he started telling me all the stuff I had to do to get
1:14:07
up to speed. And so the first thing to do was read Game of Thrones. I'm
1:14:16
sorry for that. Moving around. That's not my business card. That's how powerful that quote was in the book
1:14:23
So to answer your question about Elon, when you play the Game of Thrones
1:14:30
this is what Queen Cersei said to Lord Stark in book one
1:14:36
When you play the game of Thrones, you win or you die and then she had a pregnant pause
1:14:42
There is no middle ground. Elon Musk is playing the game of Thrones
1:14:52
at the highest level. You have to understand that. What did, what is it all about
1:14:59
Right. What's it all about and, and through history and now and in the future
1:15:06
three things, right. Sex power money. That's all it's about. I hate to say it
1:15:17
I mean, take it now, don't anybody get offended by this? Ok
1:15:20
Please take it down to your own personal level. Especially if you're a man watching this
1:15:27
A man, right? The women like Elaine and Jennifer and, uh, Vanessa
1:15:32
if you're here, I think you're gonna understand this. But if you're a man
1:15:36
you know, we're wired differently than women for, for a reason. All right and vice versa
1:15:41
Women are wired differently than men for a reason. So men, most men
1:15:46
especially younger ones, some older ones, they're, they, they're thinking all the time like
1:15:51
hm, man, that would really be great. You know, I don't even have to say it
1:15:57
All right. You understand like boy, I mean, I think about it freaking actively, all right
1:16:00
even at your level. All right. So, but at the up when you get up higher
1:16:06
man, it's why do you think all these people, these politicians and get stuck in these sex scandals
1:16:14
And just so you know if you don't know what's happening. Remember it's a
1:16:18
remember it's about sex power and money if you wanted to control somebody
1:16:25
If what you know about Jeffrey Epstein, right. You know the guy that committed suicide
1:16:33
I'm sorry, I got something in my eye. How did Jeff? Does anybody know how Jeffrey Epstein got all his money
1:16:41
It's never really been written. Do you know? I think I know he knew about sex power money
1:16:50
So he starts inviting people in to have sex with these, these young teenage girls
1:16:59
And of course, it's all video recorded and the, and the, and the dopey, the dopey idiots don't realize it's being recorded
1:17:06
He might have 20 cameras in a room, tiny ones, tiny spot cameras let them
1:17:12
they have sex for a day or two or a weekend. And the dopey guy could be like
1:17:19
Prince Prince, what's his name? Prince, what is it? Prince Albert? I don't know
1:17:24
Like, can you imagine this conversation, Jeffrey and, and the prince are having breakfast like before he gets ready to get
1:17:33
go home and Jeffrey hands him this envelope with all these flipping photos
1:17:42
None of this is hard. All right. Not, not what's gonna be on the golf ball
1:17:46
Nothing about this is hard. Oh my gosh. Um So let me get caught up
1:17:52
So Elon Musk, all I need to know he's playing game of Thrones at the flipping highest level
1:17:58
It doesn't get any more dangerous. Um, all right. Let me get caught up
1:18:05
I'm so far behind. All right. Um, all right. Uh, here we go
1:18:12
Um, covert capital, economy country. Yeah, since all right. All right. Uh
1:18:22
I have not seen that movie. G, all right. Uh, Steve. Steve says Elon Musk hasn't unbanned me yet
1:18:29
He will. Don't worry, you'll get unbanned. It's just kinda Steven. You understand why he's
1:18:34
he's, uh, it's just like in real estate. In other words, I like my son
1:18:39
Like my, my son's a great example right now. My son bought a house three weeks ago. All right
1:18:44
it's he, it's, he bought the house. It's under contract. No one else can buy it
1:18:49
Well, I mean, if the buyer wanted or seller wanted to be illegal, uh he could sell it to two people
1:18:54
Um but my son doesn't own it yet. It, it takes five weeks to close
1:19:01
All right. So, but on May 20th, just around the corner, he'll own it
1:19:06
So whatever day the deal closes, uh within a few days you're probably gonna get unbound
1:19:12
All right. Uh Frank's here. Hi, Frank, how you doing? Uh I gotta look
1:19:21
I gotta find out what this movie is about. Cat. I'll ask Kathy about it. Steve Tim
1:19:25
Do you have a video on how to find individual contract? Yes, I do
1:19:29
I have a four video series, four video series. Yeah. Just go to my website
1:19:34
Ask the build a common type in how to find a contractor. I actually, and what's cool about this video series
1:19:40
The video series starts out with me talking about it in my shed and then I say
1:19:45
hey, why don't we go, why don't I go show you how to find a contractor and it could be anything
1:19:51
It could be a roofer, it could be a plumber, it could be electrician doesn't matter. We jump into my car
1:19:57
my son in law has got the camera and we're driving, I'm talking as I'm driving
1:20:02
blah, blah, blah, talking as and then video number three, we end up at the big local lumberyard
1:20:07
the true lumber yard, not a big box store. And then I walk in and I
1:20:11
I mean, you have to understand this is all prearranging. Uh I couldn't just walk in unannounced and then I show you exactly how I
1:20:20
find the best carpenter in Cincinnati. So, yes, I have those and
1:20:24
and bye Elaine. See you later. Um, Andrew the horse faced pig
1:20:29
Exactly. That's him. Uh So thanks for being here, Elaine. Uh All right
1:20:36
Um So that's it for the, that, that's it. I uh I don't know where I'm at
1:20:43
All right. So I, I went way off the rails. That's ok. That happens. All right. If you have any questions though
1:20:47
about your home, uh, now is the time to ask them, Steve had some good questions about the news
1:20:55
All I can tell you is the next six months. The biggest concern I have just so
1:21:00
you know, Steve, the biggest concern I have is we have not yet
1:21:06
uh, figured we have not yet solved the whole election fraud thing that's not been solved
1:21:12
And I've got big concerns about that. I've got really big concerns about that and
1:21:19
but I think something's gonna happen between now and November that, that's gonna get solved
1:21:26
But I don't, I don't see how it can happen that fast because my big problem is especially with the machines
1:21:31
like here in, in New Hampshire, you know, those machines, they say they're not connected to the internet
1:21:35
They are, um, all that can be manipulated. I, um, so that's
1:21:43
that's kind of roiling around in the back of my head. Like, how is that gonna get resolved
1:21:48
And I just don't, I mean, it, it could really be resolved really easily
1:21:51
I mean, all, all we should do, I don't know, maybe they do it in the UK and once again
1:21:56
nothing about this is hard. We could, we should just go back to old fashioned paper ballots and
1:22:02
and, and in reality, voting should only be on one day. Uh
1:22:06
it should be a national holiday and, um, what the hell might as well have another holiday
1:22:12
What, what the hell? And, um, you only vote on that day and there's only a few special people that
1:22:18
that get to vote absentee. And I, I don't care how big
1:22:23
the city is, uh, it's, but it's so easy to have, you know
1:22:28
a democrat and a Republican and an independent to, to, to count the votes and just double check them
1:22:33
So, and, and, and here's the thing who said, I mean, the me
1:22:38
here's the news media, the news media has whipped everybody up into having this instant gratification about who won
1:22:47
who cares? Go to bed, like, go to vote, go to bed and then maybe through the night all the counting will get done and
1:22:54
when you wake up in the morning, you'll find out who won. We don't have to know who won 20 minutes after the polls close
1:23:02
See, that's what's going on here. That's the trouble. Um, ok, I'm gonna write that down
1:23:11
Got, got it. I gotta write that down. I'm gonna ask Kathy about this
1:23:16
She probably knows what it is. KG att ac A All right
1:23:22
I'm gonna find out what that's all about. Uh, exactly right, Frank Frank's right
1:23:28
I mean, it's got the, the, there's nothing about not, there's not one thing that's hard about
1:23:34
um, counting votes and doing it fairly and there's nothing, not one thing hard about it
1:23:39
Nothing. All right. Uh All right, Bob. Bob, thanks for being here
1:23:44
I gotta get back on the road. Um, uh, I'm gonna get out of here too
1:23:50
I, I've been babbling for the last half hour. I mean, it's crazy, but we have quite a few viewers and
1:23:56
um, I'm, I'm happy to stay here for a little bit longer to answer any questions you have about your home
1:24:03
Uh, you already know how I feel about everything else. Um, but he
1:24:07
he, he here's Steve. Are you still here? I think you're probably still here. Um
1:24:12
Oh, yeah. Yeah. Will. Um, yeah, tomorrow, man, we got great weather. So will let me
1:24:17
I'm, I'm gonna fill you in. Will. I was, I've been thinking about you. Here's my plan for tomorrow
1:24:23
First of all, the guy that I'm playing, his handicap is just about like mine
1:24:27
It's actually just one stroke worse 1.5 strokes worse than mine. So pretty evenly matched
1:24:34
Um, as long as he's not sandbagging. All right, I know I'm not
1:24:39
if anything I and anything I posted too low of the handicap based on what I did 22 weeks ago
1:24:45
My plan for tomorrow. First of all, I have, I have to be there by three and
1:24:52
um, I'm gonna leave the house at two. It's only 20 minutes to get there and I'm gonna spend a good 15 minutes putting on
1:25:00
the practice green, you know, really get a feel for the, the greens and I've decided off the tee
1:25:08
I'm only doing like 70% energy. I'm not gonna try to hit it hard and long
1:25:14
I'm just gonna try to hit it like you said, just, just 70% energy old man
1:25:20
Swing just get it out there. 100 yards, 150 yards does not have to go 200 keep it on the
1:25:29
flipping short grass. Exactly. And then here's as you want. If I get a bogey
1:25:36
if I get a bogey, every hole I, I'm, I cut my flipping handicap almost in half
1:25:44
So that's my plan is just not hitting it hard. Don't try to get a part because in my head
1:25:51
what happens? I'll typically go, I'm gonna get a part this whole and so I have to hit it harder to try to do that
1:25:57
That's crazy. My par it should be a bogey should actually be a double bogey
1:26:04
So if I get that, OK. And if the other guy goes off the rails
1:26:09
I win, right. All right. All right. Uh Here we go. Um J and D
1:26:18
uh And you recently said uh like pine food? Yeah. Oh, well
1:26:23
So that's a great question. Um Dried beans rice. Uh And I
1:26:27
I'm lucky I have all these spare stain solver buckets around. Uh that all have the gamma seal lid
1:26:33
All right. That's a screw off lid with a AO ring. So I
1:26:37
and I know Elaine's got some but she's gone. Uh You can keep them clean
1:26:41
clean them, dry them. So just keep a bunch of beans, rice
1:26:45
Uh Just a bunch of dried foods. Uh, flour, get some flour
1:26:49
get some yeast. Um You know, just things like that. We, we've been buying
1:26:54
I've been buying extra cans of soup, but we're kind of rotating through
1:26:59
So we don't, it doesn't go out of date. So I wanna have, maybe, I think it would be nice to have 5050 cans of
1:27:05
soup on, on hand. And then, you know, they're not like what Kathy makes
1:27:09
you know, it's not fresh homemade. Ok. It, we're talking about survival here
1:27:13
Right. So, so it's all a bunch of dried stuff that you can make. So, in other words
1:27:17
you already know you could survive on beans and rice. You, it'd be pretty
1:27:21
you'd be pretty unhappy for, if you had to do it for a long, long time. But you could survive
1:27:26
I mean, my dad survived the prisoner war camps on less. All right. So he
1:27:30
he was a pow for five months, six months. So he got fed crappy stuff
1:27:35
All right. So, um, uh, all right. Here we go. Uh, can you
1:27:41
uh, yeah, but Steve, yeah, but that was fixed. The fix was in for Macron
1:27:46
I mean, they got the same crappy voting that we have here. Yeah
1:27:53
I'm not, I'm not gonna play nine to warm up. I'm not doing that. I'm just, I'm playing nine holes and I just know I've
1:27:59
done this before. It, what happens is mentally, well, you know, this more than me
1:28:03
you're a far better golf than I am. I just have a tendency to try to think that I'm Phil Mickelson
1:28:10
Or that I should be like Phil Mickelson. See, that's the trap I fall into
1:28:15
like, I should be able to hit it. Like Phil. No, no
1:28:19
you should not be able to hit it. Like Phil. You only on your best day
1:28:25
Will you have a lucky shot that you're like, Phil. So you're a crappy golfer
1:28:30
So that's ok. That's why we handicap it. All right. I mean
1:28:36
that's what's beautiful about golf when you think I was telling it to Kathy. I mean
1:28:41
you don't get handicapped in basketball. There's no handicap in tennis, there's no handicap in ping pong there
1:28:48
there. I mean, it, you could just name, there's no handicap in baseball
1:28:53
All right. So, but golf, this man, I mean, the guy who thought this whole thing up in golf about handicap
1:29:02
it's brilliant because in reality I can go out and play. I mean
1:29:06
I would love to do it, wouldn't it be? Actually, I think I said this on a past life
1:29:10
I think it would be an incredible television show. I think that Phil Mickelson should
1:29:17
should play people like me on TV. I'm serious. You know, because
1:29:25
uh, you know, if I've got a handicap of 35 ok. You know what
1:29:29
you gotta play your game, Phil, you gotta be a par a little below and if I have a good day and you happen to
1:29:38
have a couple of bad shots too bad, you lose. Tell me that would not be a fantastic television show as long as they did
1:29:44
it right. They, there was no sandbagging. Oh my God. That can you imagine the
1:29:50
it'd be like what Miami Vice was all those years ago. I've been got
1:29:54
I've gotten into this rut about watching past scenes and episodes of Miami Vice and I forgot how good that show was
1:30:01
It was so incredible for its time. I'm just telling you, I'm thinking about writing Phil Mickelson a rep
1:30:07
a letter. I mean, think about it, every hacker like me would be all over watching that show
1:30:15
like, oh my God, Tim might pull it out or, or whoever the shitty golfer was
1:30:23
Exactly. Just beat him every hole. Exactly. Exactly. All right. Um
1:30:33
All right. Ok. Uh Let's see. Um So I don't know who you're asking that
1:30:40
Steve, I'm not a lefty, I'm right handed golfer. Uh I, I think
1:30:45
but Nicholson I think is a left handed guy. I think, I don't know, I can't remember, but I'm just saying
1:30:49
I just think it would be a, a great, I think that would be a great, I think that'd be a great television show
1:30:56
I'm telling you right now, you know, this, the problem is you, the person who's playing
1:31:01
like somebody like me has got to be able to handle the whole star thing
1:31:05
you know, like, you know, mentally they've got to be like, like
1:31:11
I don't care that. It's Phil Mickelson standing there for me. I don't care. He puts his pants on the same way
1:31:16
I do big flip. He ties his golf shoes the same way. I do big flipping deal
1:31:22
you know. So, but, but most people would just melt, you know. They go, oh my God
1:31:25
I'm, I'm playing next to Phil Nicholson. You know, and, and, you know
1:31:30
and Phil Mickelson, I have a great shot. Who cares, who cares for every shot he gets
1:31:34
I get 1.5 or whatever it is. I don't care, I'll get there
1:31:37
I'll get up to the green, don't worry, you know, by the time I get up there we probably would be tied
1:31:44
I don't know. I just, it's just a fantasy that I have. All right, Steve
1:31:48
All right, buddy. I'm gonna get out of here too. Great that you're here. Thanks for stopping by
1:31:53
Um, I'll be here Saturday morning, eight o'clock Eastern. Thanks so very much for being here
1:32:00
Uh All right. Um All right, I'm gonna get out here too
1:32:05
I got stuff to do. Uh, I gotta go find out and see what the dinner plan is here tonight
1:32:12
The grub plan at the carter house. A lot of people watching
1:32:15
I really appreciate you being here. I, this is, uh, that's a lot of people. Thanks for being here
1:32:22
Oh, my gosh. Miami Vice. I, I, I've been also watching just so
1:32:29
you know, they've got a lot of really great videos on youtube about the background stuff
1:32:33
I just watched a video yesterday about the guy who built all the cars for Mimy Vice
1:32:38
And, um, and, and just, it was just, just fascinating stuff that the
1:32:43
um, the clothes like, in other words, the clothes that Sonny Crockett
1:32:48
the main character Don Johnson wore all very special. All you know
1:32:53
it was, you know, those, those henleys, those pastels that was not by
1:32:57
by accident, that was that, you know, it just everything. In fact
1:33:02
I, I saw an episode by uh ee Edward James almost, you know
1:33:07
who was the guy who played the Lieutenant. Um He explained his wardrobe and
1:33:14
and how, you know, he changed what his wardrobe was gonna be and uh the
1:33:19
the, the the head wardrobe person like, no, I, I don't know about that. I don't know
1:33:23
And they just said, well, you can go talk to Michael about it, you know, the producer. And uh so they
1:33:28
they finally, but, but you know that Ed Edward James almost, he was a really
1:33:33
really great actor and he, uh he could already see what the character should be and
1:33:43
that, that down to his clothes, that the clothes had to be perfect
1:33:49
And if you remember him in the, you know, Lieutenant Castillo or whatever
1:33:54
however you pronounce his name, Castillo, you know, I mean, it, he looked like some bum in a way
1:34:00
I mean, he he had the crappiest black suit, crappiest cheap shirts that's was by design
1:34:07
that's what Edward wanted him to look like, you know, thin tie and
1:34:14
and the, and the whole way he acted in the first seven episodes
1:34:19
There's another video of him explaining why he did that and he did not tell
1:34:25
he did not tell, uh Sonny Crockett or, you know, he did not tell Don Johnson and Philip Michael
1:34:31
Um, you know, the guy who played Tubbs, he did not tell them he was gonna do that
1:34:37
And, and when they were acting their lines, they're like, they, they weren't expecting that
1:34:45
And that's why that relationship between those three actors for the first seven or eight episodes was like
1:34:52
it was, you know, e Edward James almost thought about that way ahead of time
1:34:59
It did not happen, it was not happen. Stance, you gotta watch these
1:35:03
I mean, go watch all these episodes and these things about the actors talking about all this stuff after the fact
1:35:09
It's absolutely fascinating. So, um um uh my
1:35:18
daughter is not gonna be back here for Mother's Day. Um My daughter now it's like she
1:35:27
works for the CIA is all I can tell you. That's it
1:35:35
She's having fun, but it's like she's working for the CIA. All right. So
1:35:38
uh but she will not be here. Uh Yeah, Miami Vice. Fantastic
1:35:47
Fantastic show. Oh my gosh. All right. I gotta go. Thanks so much for being here
1:35:53
a lot of people. I, I really appreciate you being here and, um
1:35:57
thanks for the thumbs up. Um, thanks for bearing with me. Um
1:36:03
we had a lot of great questions today. I'll be here Saturday morning, eight o'clock
1:36:08
I'm gonna play golf tomorrow. That's what will and I were talking about. Um
1:36:13
I'm really stoked. I'm, I'm playing in the league is what it's all about and I've never done that before and so there's gonna be
1:36:18
a little bit of pressure. I, I'm not worried about it. I don't care if I play badly
1:36:23
I'm doing it for fun primarily and then if I can get my game a little better
1:36:29
Awesome. All right. So, uh, it's gonna be, it's gonna be really interesting to see
1:36:33
Yeah, Philip Michael Thomas. I could not think of his last name. All right, Frank
1:36:37
Um, see you buddy, Jack. See you LV. Uh Thanks for being here
1:36:41
Will, thanks for being here, everybody. So many people. Uh, gosh, so many people
1:36:45
I can't, Steve's gone. He's got to get up early. It's late late there in the UK
1:36:50
It's, uh, you know, it's almost 11 o'clock, it's 20 till 11 there. It's crazy
1:36:55
All right. Well, see you buddy. Thanks for being here. Uh, sorry
1:36:58
you got rained out today. Um, tomorrow is supposed to be a nice day here
1:37:03
It should be beautiful, beautiful day. So I'll, uh, I'll be sure to reach out to you as soon as I'm off the course
1:37:09
let you know what happened. You know, here's just so, you know, on a realistic note
1:37:13
I'll just say this and then I'm out of here. If I win four holes tomorrow
1:37:17
if I just win four and I lose the match, I'll consider it a success
1:37:21
Seriously. I'll consider it. Wow, that's, that's not a bad start. So if I can win four of nine
1:37:27
I'll be happy. Doctor Troll, man. How often do I trim? I guess what
1:37:32
It's um maybe every 10 days. So I got a haircut yesterday and Mia she forgot to trim my mustache
1:37:39
Like, are you kidding me? So I'm gonna go ahead and trim it myself. I don't
1:37:43
I can't do a really good job of thinning it, but uh that's all right. It'll survive
1:37:46
But I, I've just got one of those small um I used to do it with the scissors very hard to do it right with
1:37:53
the scissors, you know, barber scissors, small one. But I've got a
1:37:57
you know, this, you know, hair clippers, not a big one, a small one made for that kind of detail work
1:38:04
And so the trick is just to do like like this, you have to look in the mirror like this. So you have to make
1:38:10
your lip like you, you know, right now, your lips got a small curve to it
1:38:14
So I make my lip straight across and then, and then trim it
1:38:20
but I'd have to get Kathy. I'd have to get Kathy to help me thin it out. So, anyway
1:38:24
uh, all right, Steve. Yeah, Mikayla, I, it's Mikal, a Mia. Yeah
1:38:32
And Mikayla. Great barber. She's a great barber. I just think we got talking and she got my eyebrows but she forgot my mustache
1:38:41
It's gonna be fun. Lock, mirror, lock, mirror. It's gonna be great. Tomorrow gonna be great
1:38:45
We're playing the back nine, the whole number 10, little tough dog leg left and it's got this
1:38:51
it's an elevated green. Um Then ho 11 is a big long par five straight away
1:38:59
Not much trouble on, on that 12 is the whole of freaking death man
1:39:03
Hole 12 dog leg left up this hill big elevated green fortune of the greens really elevated
1:39:11
You would think it's an easy hole. It's not, it is this freaking hole of death
1:39:17
man. I I should shoot a video of it. You should, I mean, and you know, if you go to Google Earth and you look
1:39:21
at it, it doesn't do really? And then the next hole a whole 13 is this freaking
1:39:29
it's a par three over the g excuse my French over the gully of death
1:39:36
That's what I call it. You have got to make the green
1:39:40
you have got and, and it's trouble to the right, a big hill that drops off
1:39:44
Trouble to the left. You don't wanna hit it too far. I mean, it's a tough part three man
1:39:49
And then hole number 14, I got it mapped in my head. Hole 14
1:39:53
a pretty easy hole pretty, pretty wide open. A slight dog leg left downhill
1:39:58
Uh I've had a drive there before last fall where it was dry out and the ground was pretty hard that my drive went like
1:40:06
270 yards. I hit it man and it, it had a very slight slice
1:40:12
hit the middle of the fairway and that fairway is tilted left, it's tilted right to left
1:40:17
the ball just kind of rolls around. I mean, it was like only like 80 yards or so to get to the green
1:40:22
It was wonderful. Uh So I could talk about it forever. Um The next hole straight away par four
1:40:30
then hold sixteens apart. I, I got them all mapped in my head. Anyway, I, I should
1:40:34
I should, I should be in the zone on this coach tomorrow. Um All right
1:40:40
Last great question, Jennifer got one. Um I, I have a vaulted insulated
1:40:49
Well, I have a partial vaulted insulated ceiling in my home. I, I'm a big fan
1:40:54
I, if I was building a new home, I would not have any vaulted ceilings or if I had to have a vaulted ceiling
1:41:02
I would really pad it more so that I could get an R in like in my client here climate in New Hampshire
1:41:09
Jennifer. I would want, I would want an R 45. So that means that I would have like nine and a quarter inches of fiberglass
1:41:18
which is like an R 38. And then I would probably like to put a two inches of closed cell foam next and then put
1:41:27
drywall on top of that. So it's so I, I want, I want
1:41:32
I want an R 48 R 60 everywhere if I could. That's all I can tell you
1:41:38
You know, because it's so easy when you're building to, to add insulation
1:41:43
it's very hard to do after the fact, here's just, you know, I'll, I'll end with this if you wanna make
1:41:50
if you wanna be the richest person in the world, it's, it's so easy
1:41:54
All right, it's really pretty easy and, and I think that the NASA scientists were kind of on to something
1:42:04
and I, and I actually went back and got, uh I remember a photograph I saw if you wanna be the ri if you wanna
1:42:11
be richer than Elon Musk, you come up with a product that is a half inch
1:42:20
thick. It's only got to be half inch thick, four by eight sheets and it has an half inch thick kind
1:42:28
It doesn't have to be too rigid, does not have to be strong, half inch thick
1:42:34
four by eight sheets, but it has an R factor of 100
1:42:42
You come up with that product, you will be the richest person in the world
1:42:46
Good luck. One of our guys got a hole in one on our number five
1:42:53
Wow. Ok. That's, I know that hole. I, that's the hole that scares the crap out of me
1:42:57
The island hole. Old man. Swing. Exactly. Old man swing. That's gonna be me tomorrow
1:43:03
I would, I'm gonna have somebody videotape it. I swear to God, I'm gonna try to have somebody videotape it
1:43:07
All right. Gotta go. Thanks for being here. Um Remember if you wanna be richer than Elon Musk
1:43:13
half inch thick. R factor of 100. Figure out how to do it think
1:43:19
And if you need some help, I'm just telling you go research how the uh tiles were made for the space shuttle
1:43:27
right? Remember those heat shield tiles go, I, I already know all about this
1:43:32
I don't have time to talk to you about it now, but they're just special silica
1:43:38
Um Think how much they slowed and that's all you're trying to do
1:43:42
Remember, um the purpose of insulation is only to do one thing
1:43:47
It slows the transfer of heat. So the underside of the space shuttle had these very special tiles
1:43:56
that slowed the transfer of heat to the aluminum body of the shuttle
1:44:01
Except for the, which one was it? The um it was the challenger that blew up from the rockets than Colombia
1:44:10
the Columbia disaster. The Colombia one that burned up on reentry was because it had lost some of those tiles and
1:44:19
they didn't know it and, um, or if they did know about it
1:44:25
which I actually think they did. I think they did know about it. They didn't tell anybody because there was no way for those guys
1:44:31
to fix it. They were doomed coming back in because the whole flipping rocket just burned up like a blowtorch
1:44:38
All right. So, so those tiles that are on the space shuttle
1:44:43
That's your clue. That's how to make this stuff. All right. And if you do
1:44:49
if you're successful, do you think you could just give me a half of 1% for giving you the flipping idea
1:44:56
All right, just half of 1%. I'll be happy. All right. All right
1:45:01
good luck. Gotta go. Uh Good luck with that. If you start working on it
1:45:04
If you, if you wanna contact me privately, I'm happy to tell you about it. Thanks for being here
1:45:09
Jennifer. You're here forever. How crazy. So glad you got the drawing
1:45:13
So glad it finally came. Jeez. Amazing. All right. Gotta go. Thanks for being here
1:45:18
I'm Tim Carter. You've been watching us the Builder. And if you become richer than Elon Musk
1:45:23
God bless you. Good for you. Good for you do something good with the money. All right
1:45:27
Buy, buy Facebook for, uh, I don't know, buy them for like 100 bucks
1:45:32
That's all it's worth. All right. So just buy Facebook and change it too. Well
1:45:37
I don't call it. It should be, it's really fascist book. All right. I gotta go
1:45:41
I'm gonna get everybody pissed off. I'm Tim Carter. I'll be back Saturday morning. Bye
