Hi, I'm Tim Carter from AskTheBuilder.com and I'm here today with Tom Fairbrother from Lakeside
0:10
Plumbing here in Meredith, New Hampshire and we're going to install this fantastic, check this out
0:16
this tiny Titan point of use water heater. It's electric, it just plugs in, it's a really great
0:24
machine. Wait until you see how simple it is to put one of these tiny Titans in. Tom, what do you
0:29
you think? Think we should get started? Let's keep going. All right, baby. All right. Let's go. Okay
0:34
The heater is easy to install. It comes with a handy mounting bracket and screws. You just put
0:41
it on the wall, level it, and install the screws tightly. Okay, so you saw us put in the mounting
0:48
bracket. It's really, really simple to do. And what happens, that acts just like a French cleat
0:54
And then the water heater, it just sets down on top of that bracket
0:58
Gravity holds it in place. Here's what it looks like installed. And you can see there's the electric cord hanging down from it
1:10
And that is going to plug in right over here into this outlet. It's that simple
1:15
All we have to do is install a cold water line here
1:20
and then the hot water line comes out here, And these are half-inch iron pipe standard nipples that are coming out of that water heater
1:29
So you just have to sweat on a half-inch female adapter onto a piece of copper pipe
1:35
And that's what Tom's doing right now. He just finished it up. You can see that right there
1:39
And it's really really hot right now. He's wiped the solder And you need to solder these on first so that you don't put any unnecessary heat near the top of the water heater
1:50
that why you do that Okay so the heater is basically installed I want to show it to you You going to love this little tiny tight and compact water heater Look at this So here it is You know it is It a compact water heater It only two and a half gallons And you can see how simple it was
2:07
You've got a copper water line here that comes in. This one right here. That's the cold water. It's water inlet
2:13
And then of course the hot water comes out here at this one. And this is the temperature pressure relief valve
2:20
It already comes installed from the factory, and you just put a three-quarter inch copper line that goes down to the ground here
2:27
and it's got an air gap, so that in case the water heater malfunctions, the hot water comes out of this pipe here
2:34
Now, one quick thing here. This particular heater's got a thermostat with an off switch
2:39
I just wanted to show that it is plugged in here, but you never, ever, ever want to plug in this water heater
2:45
So we're going to unplug this in case somebody makes a mistake. you never ever want to plug it in until after the water heater has been completely connected to the
2:55
water lines and it has water in it because it's an electric heater and what will happen is if you
3:00
make a mistake plug it in before it has water heater water in it and the thermostat is on it
3:07
will instantly burn up the elements you don't want that so never never plug it in until after you've
3:13
got water in it and you know you've got all the air out of the system, there's no leaks
3:18
then you can plug it in. Tiny Titan water heater, compact water heaters, they're the best. You want
3:23
to get one if you just have a need for hot water and a little sink, you just need a small amount
3:27
of hot water, this is what you want to use. I'm Tim Carter for askthebuilder.com. If you want to discover more home improvement tips, go to askthebuilder.com
