Good afternoon. I'm Tim Carter. This is the builder. Welcome Friday
0:10
March. Uh What is it? Gosh, March 25th. Holy tomato. We've burned through March almost already
0:17
Wow. I just, it's hard to believe, hard to believe if you uh have not
0:27
checked in yet, if you're a Lurker Lurkers, just so, you know
0:31
think about this. Have you ever lived someplace where, where you've got like a fence around you and there might be cracks in the fence
0:39
and holes and, and you're looking and you swear you see somebody looking through the hole of the fence
0:45
you know. Um That's a Lurker, you know, so no one likes Lurkers
0:50
No one, no one likes Lurkers. I don't. Um So anyway, check in
0:57
say hello and sometimes you have to remind me what your superpowers are
1:03
And um the reason I want to know about your superpowers are because one
1:10
I may have a question for you. And number two, if we start
1:14
if someone asks a question and I remember in the chat like
1:18
oh gosh, we've got two people here who are very knowledgeable about that
1:22
then I want you to chime in assuming you're still here. All right
1:26
in a few minutes we're gonna talk about, uh, the qualities of the best deers
1:30
I've, I've known, I've, I know all about it. I know all about it and
1:34
um, I got some exciting news. Uh, oh, I actually have to
1:39
um, I have to copy and paste this, um, this URL into the chat stream
1:47
Um, it would help for you to go here and fill out that form
1:52
Hi, Dave, how are you doing? Pleasure, pleasure to, to, to meet you. Glad you're here
1:57
The, um, um, so we're gonna talk about dick in just a moment
2:02
Um, I will, uh, share, um, today was kind of a salmon day for me
2:08
I got the, I got my newsletter done. I typically build my newsletter, uh
2:12
every Friday and it, uh, you know, it goes out automatically on Sunday morning
2:17
about five in the morning and pretty good. I think it's a pretty good newsletter
2:21
I had to, uh, I did a little exercise with people because I got people a little riled up
2:26
Um, last Sunday had a couple of people unsubscribe and, and the reason why is there
2:33
um, you, you may not agree with this, but here in America
2:37
if you're watching and you live here in the United States, we're, we're engaged in a civil war here in
2:41
in our country right now. A lot of people go. Oh, no, no, no, we're not. No. Yes, we are
2:45
Yes, we are, we're, we're civil war and uh you know, people are very polarized about any number of issues and
2:54
that's being done by design to try to, to divide it is just a, a page out of Caesar's playbook
2:59
you know, divide and conquer. So they divide and conquer everybody on everything and uh just get everybody pissed off at each other
3:06
That's, that's on purpose. All right. So um so, so just this little
3:11
this little thing I was doing in my newsletter about inflation, uh just telling the truth about inflation just set some people off
3:19
They, they automatically read politics into it and it's like, no, not really political
3:25
I mean, I mean, it is to a degree because if you
3:28
if you have all these politicians, a lot of them voting for stuff and voting for bills and
3:34
well, we don't have the money. Um I guess you could say it's political but I didn't say anything political in the piece anyway
3:39
It pissed a lot of people off. So I talked about how I, I called the Civil war
3:44
the war of northern aggression. All right. All right. So in my newsletter this Sunday
3:48
if you've not subscribed, you really should because you're gonna see a really interesting exercise and uh how
3:54
you know, to, to explain to people why I called it that
3:58
So I'm not, I don't wanna give it away here. Just subscribe to the newsletter
4:02
the links right up above in the chat and, and, and, and just read the Sunday newsletter
4:06
If you don't like it, then just unsubscribe. It's no big deal. So, um
4:10
anyway. All right, Steve, uh, let's see what your question is. Um
4:19
ok. Uh, back in the fifties and my mom's hometown. So, yeah, I had. Ok
4:22
All right. I understand. Got it. Um, you're gonna type in some more. Um
4:27
um, got it. Fancy House, great materials. A lot of those in Cincinnati
4:33
Ohio. I can, I can drive you down street after street of how
4:36
that's where I grew up of houses built just like that today
4:45
It's ice water. Ok? While we're waiting for Steve, we're gonna talk about deck sealers and then I'll pick up with Steven
4:54
just a little bit if you have ever stained regular wood, like interior wood
5:01
interior woodwork. Um, y you, you know that typically you, the stain that you get it
5:11
it's, it's really heavily based in, in mineral spirits and whatever and it soaks into the wood and it's got these ultra fine pigment particles
5:20
I mean, just so fine, like maybe the size of a grain of flour is smaller and it takes those pigment particles actually in
5:27
into the wood and which is why the wood, um, he made changes color
5:34
All right. And, and the stain itself. So, so if you stain a piece of wood and you let it dry
5:43
you know, and you've stained it properly after it's dry um, if you run your hand across it or lightly touch it with a towel
5:50
generally you're not gonna get anything off. The stain is in the wood and that's years ago
5:56
that's how many of the deck sealers were. The trouble is, is that
6:00
um, hello, Bob. Uh, Ann Arbor. Good. That's great. Good. Uh, um
6:06
Michigan. What a state, great, beautiful state, by the way. Um, SS
6:12
but the problem is is that, that type of a sealer creates a matte finish and a lot of people don't like matt finishes
6:21
They prefer, there's just so there's something about a semi gloss or even a glossy
6:30
finish. Just think about your car. In other words, just about every single car or pickup truck or whatever that paint is glossy
6:39
All right, and they look nice when they're clean. But if you had a matte finish car
6:45
they just, for some reason in our brains, our brains are programmed to
6:50
we really like glossy things and we think they're clean and beautiful and whatever we
6:55
we, we attribute all these positive characteristics to things that are glossy
7:00
Um Matt finished, not so much. And in the past 20 years
7:08
the deck sealer manufacturers seem to have have gravitated to making deck sealers that have that glossy appearance
7:18
Well, the, well, the way they do that is they start is the formulation changes and basically the product becomes a film form
7:26
Remember what I just described before? The stain would go into the wood and it doesn't really sit up on the surface
7:33
Well, the many of the current deck sealers are film farmers where some of it goes into the wood
7:41
some of it soaks in, but some of it stays up on top and
7:47
and what happens if you haven't noticed this? They peel and they look horrible because if you
7:54
if you have, if you've applied a deck sealer and some of it peels off and some of it doesn't
8:01
And then you apply a new sealer, you have this really blotchy appearance
8:06
It looks horrible, which then causes people to have to strip off all of the old finish
8:11
It's really a nightmare. I decided that I was gonna try to find a penetrating finish and I think I found
8:20
it. I think I found a really good one and I'm about to take a video
8:24
So I, I applied it two years ago. Still looks remarkably well
8:30
And I also stained a control board that's been in my garage for two years
8:35
You know, I stained it the same day. Same can of stain, everything's the same
8:40
And then as soon as it dried, I carried it into my garage, put it underneath my workbench where there'd be no sunlight getting into
8:47
it, no water, no rain, no anything. So that as soon as I can
8:51
as soon as we have a halfway decent day, I'm gonna go down and record this video with this test board
8:57
this uh control board, right on the other wood. So you can see exactly how well the current deck looks
9:04
So, um, it's gonna be really fascinating but the important thing is
9:09
is, is, uh I don't think that it doesn't appear that this product is a film farmer
9:13
We're gonna find out. So, film farmers no good. Uh If you want to ask any questions about anything you want to know about Dex
9:20
or start to type your questions in and I'll, I'll gladly answer them
9:24
I'll talk a little bit more about it in just a minute. Let's pick up with Steve's uh
9:28
um, question here. Well, sir. All right. So, uh, continued 3000
9:37
square feet on a slab. Ok. House burned a couple of years ago. Ok. House was carefully assembled and hauled away
9:43
They left the concrete slab, drivers, sidewalk. Ok. Property is up for sale
9:47
Question is the 65 year concrete superior to this. Is there some benefit to building on these trying to understand the purpose
9:53
Um That is the, the, the answer is maybe, maybe, maybe the
10:02
it, here's, here's the thing with concrete. I, I've talked about this a lot
10:07
I've got a lot of columns on the website about concrete here. Just let's just first talk about what is concrete
10:12
Just the mo the most basic concrete. It's got four ingredients, right? There's four things in it
10:16
What are they, what are the four things that are in concrete. Can you think about them? Ok
10:21
I'll help you. We got stones. All right. You know, they range in size from pea size
10:28
uh, up to maybe the size of a, a grape, like a nice big green grape
10:33
Uh, we've got sand and you know what sand is, right? So, sand is just rock
10:38
A lot of people don't know that a lot of people don't realize that sand is rock and
10:42
um just very tiny pieces of rock. Then the next ingredient is Portland cement
10:47
That's a gray powder. And um, that's also rock. All right, you
10:53
you make cement from limestone and shale and then the fourth ingredient is what
10:59
Water? Ok? That's it. Now, you can make concrete with some additives
11:03
whatever. So rock in and of itself is naturally strong. That's why we use it within the concrete
11:10
The, the um, so the strength of the concrete is a function of how much cement is used
11:20
When you mix it, it's just like adding sugar to iced tea
11:24
You know, if you just put a little bit, you know, the iced tea doesn't taste very sweet
11:29
You know, the more sugar you put in the sweeter it gets OK. And you can make it too sweet
11:33
Of course, that's about the best ogy I can give you the
11:38
the um, the thing is the concrete that was poured 65 years ago in this wonderful house may
11:47
have been inferior, but I doubt it based on your description, it sounds like it was a really great builder
11:52
They knew back then how to make strong concrete. They probably poured a seven or an eight bag mix
11:58
Whereas today they've kind of dropped the minimum standard. They say the minimum should be a six bag mix
12:04
And uh you know, and that means six bags of cement per cubic yard of concrete
12:09
And um you know, but the, I'll give you an example of going the other direction back in the day
12:16
back in the late 18 hundreds. Uh, the, the, the companies that were running the railroads
12:20
they, they were run by some pretty smart guys. They understood that
12:25
Um, it's, it's very disruptive to try to reroute a train. In other words
12:32
the trains on the track, they need to keep running. That that's how the railroads make money
12:37
They cannot, you cannot have the track, you know, broken or derailed or whatever washed out
12:45
That means that whenever you build a bridge, um, you, that bridge needs to last a long time and it
12:52
it, it just cannot fail. So the bridge abutments in many cases are built out of concrete
12:59
And the, the railroad guys told the engineers not the train engineers
13:03
the civil engineers, they said, listen, we want you to, you pour that concrete
13:07
but I don't want that concrete going bad. It, it needs to last for a long time
13:11
80 maybe 100 100 years or more. Ok. We can do it
13:15
And so they did. So they probably poured, I don't know, 10 bag
13:20
12 bag mix. And I can take you by lots of railroad
13:25
a bridge abutments that were poured in the 19, early, 19 hundreds
13:29
So they're over 100 years old. They still look pretty good. I can take you to Cincinnati
13:35
Ohio where, 100 years ago they were pouring the concrete for the Cincinnati subway system and they had this guardrail stuff up on above the
13:43
tunnels, up, up on central parkway. Still there. I can take you right now to Cincinnati
13:47
I've got pictures of it on my, uh, um, website. Go to Ask the vote.com and then the search engine type
13:54
uh, Cincinnati subway. And I guarantee you, you'll see, uh, those pictures come up or type central Parkway
14:01
So, Steve, um, this concrete may be in great shape. The fire would not have heard it that much
14:08
You can always do a concrete overnight. But the problem that I have is that I
14:12
I'm not a big person who I don't like to, to build on slabs for a host of reasons being a plumber
14:17
I'm a master plumber. I, I'd, I just have this thing where if
14:22
if you can make it, that I have access to my building drains
14:26
I'm, I'm good, you know, II, I just want to have access to the building drains
14:31
but that's even hard in basements because you're gonna put the, the, the uh, pipes below that basement
14:35
Slap the point I'm trying to make is that the, um, you know
14:43
I don't know that I would want to build a new home on this slab and then use the old building trains
14:50
I, I may want to have a complete different floor plan. You may be tearing up so much of the slab
14:55
It's not even worth it. It's just easier to take it out. I mean, you bring in an excavator 3000 square feet
15:01
I could go in there with a, you know, with one of these, you know
15:06
I could go in there with one of these, um, you know, full size like a 310 and I would have that slab up and
15:12
gone and out of the way in about two hours time, two hours cost about
15:18
I don't know, $300 an hour for, for one of these, maybe 400 now. So
15:22
just so anyway, II, I just get rid of the slab. All right
15:30
Uh, if you have, um, any questions about deck seers, uh, ask them now in the chat
15:35
Happy to do it. Happy to answer any question you have about deck seers. Um
15:40
I will, I'll talk a little bit more about them. Um, one of the really interesting products
15:45
I, I haven't, well, I, uh, don't watch a lot of TV
15:49
I only watch maybe, I think I only watch, uh, 30 30 minutes at night
15:56
30 minutes a day of television. And, uh, I don't see, all I see are me medicine ads
16:01
I don't medicine and lose weight ads. That, that, that's anyway. So
16:08
um, I used to see a lot of Thompson water seal, um
16:16
ads, you know, this time of year, you know, they, they, they blow their budget
16:21
you know, in the spring and back in the day and I think they still might do it
16:25
So Thompson's water seal, it's, you know, they have very flashy commercials
16:31
but, um, they used to make the product. My understanding was my opinion is that that product was just made with uh animal fat
16:39
That was the primary ingredient. Um, used to be like a former release agent
16:44
you know, for concrete forms and, uh, you know, they noticed how water would beat up a lot
16:49
But, um, but the trouble with animal fat is that it's like, it's like eating
16:54
it's like you, it's like me having a filet mignon or lobster tail
16:57
That's what mold mildew loves to eat is, is oil like foods like that
17:02
any kind of natural oil. Uh So sometimes some of these deck sealers within a few months
17:08
they turn black for mold mildew. So you have to be really careful about that. Hello
17:13
Vanessa. Uh You're welcome, Steve. Uh I don't know that I really answered your question just that
17:18
you know, I don't, I don't know that I wanna build on that. I just think the floor plan might be different
17:24
You know, people live in houses a little differently than they did 65 years ago. Um
17:31
the other thing about deck seers, uh, I'll tell you this right now. So when you
17:37
if you, first of all, you have to have the deck really clean, uh, it, it's just like the best ogy
17:41
I give this ogy all the time. Let's say you're gonna go out to dinner. It's a Saturday night
17:46
You're gonna go out with your sweetheart and you've been working, it's a hot day and you've been working out in the yard and you're
17:51
just sweaty and dirty and filthy. I mean, you're, you're not gonna go inside and take your clothes off and put your good clothes on
17:58
Come on, you, you're gonna take a shower and you're gonna really clean yourself and you're gonna rub your skin
18:04
You know, you're gonna put soap and rub your skin, rinse yourself off. You're gonna be nice and clean
18:08
All right. Uh So that's what you have to do to a deck. I
18:11
I mean, before you go to seal it, you really have to clean it and pressure washers
18:15
they damage the wood. Uh, they erode the soft, the softer spring wood that's growing right now
18:21
Um Chlorine bleach, horrible thing to use. It's toxic. It takes the color out of wood
18:28
It, it's so strong, it destroys the lignin, which is the chemical bond between wood fibers um
18:34
it also, um, is very corrosive to the metal, all the metal connectors
18:39
the nail screws, joist hangers. Uh, and of course, it's very, very toxic
18:44
If you have any trees nearby, uh, any expensive vegetation, you're gonna kill them all
18:48
you're gonna kill them all. You might, you know, might I kill him that year? You keep washing your deck with chlorine bleach
18:54
you're gonna kill them all. I know because my neighbor did it. I tried to warn her
18:58
She didn't listen to me. I told that story before. Uh Best cleaner for deck oxygen bleach
19:03
This happens to be the best one made in America Stain Solver. So Stain Solver just a
19:09
just a white powder that you mix with hot water stirred up for a minute or two
19:14
make sure it's all dissolved. Put it on the wood, dry wood
19:18
I always want to apply it to dry, starts to foam and bubble and the
19:22
the oxygen ions are actually cleaning the wood and the longer you let it work
19:26
the less you have to scrub lightly, scrub the deck, rinse it off of the hose
19:30
Wood looks beautiful. Doesn't hurt anything. It actually helps all the plants puts oxygen into the soil
19:37
Uh It doesn't hurt the connectors doesn't hurt the Nas or screws doesn't take the Colorado wood doesn't hurt the lignin blah
19:42
blah, blah, good, good product, right? So then, um, you wanna let the wood dry
19:47
then, then what? You also wanna do is you wanna read the label? Always read the label on your deck
19:51
Se ok. Most people just think I don't need to read the label. What do I need to read the label for
19:56
Well, probably good idea. So just take a minute or two and read the label
20:02
see what it says. It'll tell you, you know how to apply it. It'll tell you what the temperature range should be
20:08
Uh, and I can tell you from experience the worst time to seal a deck is in the middle of the day on a
20:13
on a hot sunny day with breezy. You do not want to do that. The best conditions to seal a deck would be
20:19
I don't know, 65 degrees overcast, no threat of rain, no threat of rain
20:24
but just nice overcast day. Uh, you want that sealer to drive slow
20:29
the slower it drives the better. Uh, hi Roco. Uh, Will, wants to know
20:38
will standing off the deck be good. Uh, well, no, I don't think so. Will
20:41
I would wash the deck first. I would wash it just like I said
20:46
with Stain Solver. Uh, let it dry and then I would sand it off because Stain Solver
20:52
Um, it's such a strong cleaner that it can remove a lot of the old oxidized and sun damaged sealer
21:01
So it actually might making, it might make it that you have to sand less but sanding a deck
21:06
Oh, my gosh, what a flipping horrible job. It's horrible, horrible job
21:13
All right. Any, uh, questions you have about deck sealers? I'm happy to answer them
21:17
Um, I thought for sure we'd have a lot of questions about deck sealers
21:21
Um, there's a lot of confusion about them. A lot of people
21:26
you just have to realize that a lot of the products out there now are film farmers
21:30
It, they're just horrible. They, they, I think they put a little bit of urethane in with them and they
21:36
um, when they fail, they start to peel and it's just horrible
21:40
It's horrible. You're welcome, will. Um You're welcome. Uh So what other questions do
21:49
you have? And also you, you may, you may have a question that has nothing to do with deck sailor
21:54
Go ahead and ask it just like Steve's question. I, I don't care what question you have
21:58
You can ask anything, you can ask anything about anything. I don't care
22:02
I don't care what you ask about. You could ask, you can ask about Bobcats and I'll be able to talk to you about Bobcats
22:08
Here's why. So yesterday, I don't know, around noon my phone rings and it's Kathy
22:17
You know, because we, we're like miles apart in the house here. You know, I'm way
22:21
I, I'm as far away from her as possible. Not necessarily because I wanna be
22:26
She might like it that way. But anyway, um, she say you're not gonna believe what I just saw
22:32
What I go tell me she goes, II, I just come back inside and
22:36
you know, I fed the birds and the squirrels were out there eating the bird seed and
22:40
and all of a sudden I caught my eye. This bobcat captures this flipping squirrel and
22:48
and drags it off and, and while she's saying that I'm looking out my window right here
22:53
you know, there's a big window right here and I see this thing moving across the drive
22:56
I go, oh, I see it right now. So the bobcat was taking the squirrel
23:01
Big, big fat gray squirrel. Oh, my gosh. Um, and he was just
23:08
you know, carefully carrying that thing up to his lair, uh, up to his nest up in the hill
23:14
And, um, it was pretty cool to see. I mean, the bobcat. So I did a lot of research on this morning
23:20
Uh, they are really a beautiful cat. I mean, they have like this very stubby tail
23:25
very, very, uh, distinctive ears. A really, really cool marking. I mean
23:30
they are so camouflaged. Oh, my gosh. And, um, it was pretty muscular
23:37
I mean, it was like the size of a, uh, like half the size of a normal German shepherd
23:43
maybe a little smaller. Um, and, uh, what, what I was surprised about in the research
23:51
I, I went to the New Hampshire Fish and game website is that in the wild
23:56
And I guess they've tagged these thing. They, their lifespan is only 3 to 5 years
24:03
But in captivity they can live up to 30 years. So it's really a hard life
24:09
you know, in the wild. And I, um, I was trying to think
24:13
I was trying to think what I, I just thought they must, they might be an apex predator
24:17
I mean, you know, there you're allowed to hunt them here in, in New Hampshire and
24:21
and maybe, maybe the hunters are taken, taken, taking them out. I
24:26
I guess, I don't know which is their whole life span thing. But, um
24:30
I don't know that there's a bigger, more bad ass, um, animal that could
24:36
that, other than a mountain lion, I think we do, we might have mountain lions in New Hampshire
24:40
I, I don't know about that. But, um, but I mean, I
24:45
I just can't imagine what would, what would kick the ass of a bobcat
24:49
And so anyway, what do I know? Squirrels? Uh, I think squirrel is tasty
24:56
I think it's a really, uh, interesting meat. I, I'll tell you what the squirrel
24:59
Kathy, my wife has been feeding these things. They are so they're either fat or they're muscular or both
25:06
I'm telling you, they, and they're everywhere. I mean, when I look at my window, these squirrels are
25:11
they're running up these trees. I mean, they're 100 ft in the air, jumping around in the trees
25:15
Crazy. We have two types of squirrels here, we have the grays, the bigger ones we have these ha we have these other squirrels
25:20
these red squirrels that are about half the size of the grays and these red squirrels
25:25
they are so flipping feisty. I'll tell you what. They're just amazing
25:30
All right. So, enough about animals. So that's what, um, uh, that's
25:34
that was really interesting yesterday to see that bobcat if you have any questions about anything
25:39
Uh, that's what fuels the li the live stream. In other words, your questions
25:44
um, are the, are the fuel for the live stream? If you don't ask questions
25:50
then I just run out of things to talk about. So that's, that's not good
25:54
So I, I need you to type questions, uh, observations, uh, whatever it might be
25:59
just, just type it into the live stream, you know, type it in the chat
26:03
Ask me anything. I, I really don't care what you ask me. And also you're supposed to check in
26:07
you're supposed to check in. That's the polite thing to do. I mean it
26:12
you know, you wouldn't go to somebody's house and just walk in the door and just start and go sit down
26:17
I mean, you'd introduce yourself, right? Come on, supposed to check in
26:29
Ok, tomorrow I might be, might be getting the white board a
26:41
Vertes. Thank you for checking in. I have two brand new decks
26:44
Ok. All right. Number two, prime pressure to wood. Ok. All right
26:52
Uh two great questions. Um, I, I would, uh, let me ask this question
26:59
Where can you just tell me the state that you live in? Where do you, what state do you live in
27:05
I don't know if there's a latency in the how, how behind the chat is today
27:10
Hi, Jack. Thanks for checking in. So, Alvertis, what state do you live in
27:16
I know you probably typed in already hit return and, and youtube slow as Molasses
27:21
Um, there we go. Thank you, South Carolina. Ok. You're starting to get some pretty good weather
27:28
So, um, you, you would have to do, uh, the, the moisture test
27:34
I, I recorded a video about this, uh, two years ago. Let me see if I can find it
27:40
Um, uh, what was that title of video? Uh, I, I'm just gonna put treated lumber
27:49
video. It was a, it was a water absorption test, but I don't know what I titled it
27:55
Um, I can't remember now. I'm trying to find it on my website
27:59
Um, it's coming up. Come on. Um, I
28:10
don't know where it is anyway, Alvertis. All right. So I'll get to your question. So
28:14
um, if you can put a drop of water on the wood and
28:24
and it, and it soaks into the wood after about 30 seconds
28:29
40 seconds, it's time to seal it. All right. It's time to seal it. Uh
28:33
what's the best sealer? Huh? I am going to have you need to go here
28:41
You need to go to this link. You need to do two things
28:45
You need to go to that link. I just pasted in the chat and you need to fill out. You just need to take this
28:50
quick one question survey. There's, it's a totally anonymous. You do not have to enter your name or address or anything
28:55
None of that. Um And then you need to subscribe to my newsletter
29:02
which is here. And
29:12
what's gonna happen is I am going to record a video in a
29:17
within hopefully three weeks and that video I'm going to, it's, it's a test result video of I've been conducting a test
29:27
for the last two years and I'm gonna reveal in that video
29:31
um that the product that I used. All right. So you want to be on my newsletter list because as soon as that video becomes
29:38
available, um, you, you, uh you need to get it right? So you
29:43
you need to be able to watch that video. So that's how, that's how you're gonna find out
29:47
The name of. What I think at, at the time is the best deck sealer
29:50
So that's what you need to do. Uh I don't know. That's a great question
29:56
Can you use a paint sprayer? Um I don't know that I would do that because the deck sealers are so easy to put on
30:01
Generally. Uh you can put them on with like a paint roller. Um
30:06
the problem with a paint sprayer is that even when you spray them on
30:10
you either may not get enough on or you may put too much on
30:15
which means you'll have to brush it. It's really important that you only put the correct amount on because if you put it too heavy
30:24
it's gonna peel off. All right. So, um, I hate to say it
30:29
It's, I, I would, I would not use a paint square. They're, they're very problematic
30:33
And if you've never used it before, um, you, you're gonna have a big mess on your hands
30:37
you're gonna ruin the decks, you're gonna ruin them. So, um, it's not that hard to do to do decks and also always do the
30:44
railings first. And if, if they're wood railings and make sure you have a drop cloth like 23 layers or plastic to catch
30:53
and it drips. You don't want any of this while you're doing the handrail
30:57
you don't want any of that sealer to drip down on the deck. Um
31:01
and, uh, because it'll show up as spots later on. So, uh
31:05
so do the handrails first. Then the next day do do the decking Jack
31:13
Oh, dude, tomatoes, you tell me, look at those bad boys. Um
31:21
that, that's my best one and they've, uh, so just 25 days ago I planted the seeds on
31:29
uh March 1st. All right. So, um, 25 days. That, that's, uh
31:35
that's probably um, I'm gonna guess that thing's five inches tall, let's see
31:42
Or do I do I have it right. Five inches tall. So
31:47
uh, five inches tall, they're doing just fantastic. I, um, thought I had killed them like three days ago because I
31:54
they, they, they dried out a little bit and, um, but I've, they came back
31:59
I watered them that afternoon. They came back a lot, they came back overnight
32:04
Although it's really funny, I have one, this is the one that's the smallest
32:09
It's kind of stunted in growth. You know, look how small that one is. It's only about 2.5
32:13
3 inches tall. But the soil I'm gonna have to water in the morning
32:18
Um, so it was just a little damp Kathy. Um You know
32:23
my wife is super green thumb. She's a professional orchid grower. And so
32:27
you know, she said, listen, do not over water those things, you know, which
32:31
which I, I knew that. And, um, anyway, so al Vertes, um
32:36
you're gonna do great on your deck. Um And just so, you know
32:39
uh you, you probably don't need this, but I offer phone coaching so I can talk to you privately on the phone for 15 minutes
32:47
to answer any questions. You can send me photos of the deck. Uh I would look at your photos and I would tell you exactly
32:52
how I would do it. I would tell you exactly the tools I would use exactly what to do to get the best results
32:59
So, um, that may be the cheapest money you spend on this whole project is to talk to me on the phone for 15 minutes
33:05
Um All right, Albertus had a great question. Those are great questions
33:10
So, here and here's, here's why it's important. I'm just gonna mention this sometimes you'll hear advice like
33:16
oh, wait six months or whatever, no bad idea. Especially where you live
33:21
Um Sun's starting to get pretty intense and you can get these micro checking cracks in the wood if you don't seal it
33:28
And the, and the reason treated lumber goes bad is because water gets into it
33:34
So anytime the wood gets even the tiniest crack in it, the water can go deeper
33:38
So that's the whole purpose of the sealers is to minimize the water that gets into the wood
33:44
So you wanna, so, like I said, as soon as the treated lumber is dry enough to where you put a drop on it and
33:51
within 30 seconds, the drop disappears because it is soaked in. It's time to seal it
34:00
All right. Good. All right. So, you know, because I, because I know you spent a lot of money on the deck or these two
34:05
decks, you spent huge money. So we do not. I mean, you don't want to ruin them on the last step by sealing them
34:12
You don't want to ruin them. All right, because I've uh, I've sealed so many
34:16
Um, I'll give you the link too for what it's worth. I mean, if you're, if you're really interested in it
34:20
um, if you wanna, if you wanna talk me on the phone
34:24
oh, it's right here. I, I was right there. I don't know what was wrong with me
34:28
Like, what an idiot. Um, all right. I'm getting a link for you
34:38
I should have these already off to the side. I, I don't know why. Sometimes I wonder what's wrong with me
34:43
Um, so here, if, if you do decide that you want to get me on the phone, that's all you gotta do
34:47
You just gotta go there, place an order as simple as that. All right
34:52
Uh So there's the link how to set up the phone call. Uh What else did I want to talk about today
34:58
Um Remember the, the, the, the, um, kind, it's kind of a soft rule here at the S the Builder live stream
35:05
Uh I, I, it's called the Polite rule. So if you're here and you're watching, you need to check in
35:10
We, we, uh, it's just like if you were to go to some, somebody's home that you've never been to before
35:15
Here's what you would not do. You would not knock on the door, they open the door and you would not just walk right past
35:20
them and go sit down on the couch. That's not what you're gonna do. You're probably gonna introduce yourself
35:27
Right. Right. That's the polite thing to do. So you need to, you need to check in and
35:32
and say who you are and it would really help me if you listed what you, a couple of your superpowers
35:36
what, what superpowers you have? All right. So, all right. Um the um it's
35:47
gonna be get, get this. It really was a nice day here today in Central New Hampshire
35:51
I don't know what the temperature was, but I walked up to the mailbox
35:54
I, I, it had to be upper forties, lower fifties. I, I don't know it
35:59
but the sun so warm now it's getting high in the sky and a really nice state and I think we got a hell of
36:05
a lot of rain overnight. I didn't hear it. I, I slept like a log last night
36:10
but I had to go to town this morning to go to the post office and I'm driving down this road
36:16
I normally drive down and there was water gushing out of this pipe
36:20
I have never in all my life seen water come out of that pipe and you know
36:24
it's a drainage pipe coming down off a hillside. We must have had a
36:28
a boatload of rain last night. Hello, Jimmy. Um, no, listen. Um
36:36
we're sorry for your bad luck. No, no one wants to hear about your bad day
36:41
Don't come here and throw a wet blanket on the live stream. I'm
36:52
just teasing. Tell us, tell us what happened. What, in a nutshell
36:58
What, what, why did your day go bad? And remember if you have the reason I'm here
37:06
the reason I do these live streams is to help save you time and money
37:11
The only way I can do that, there's only one way you have to type a question in the chat
37:17
I'll answer the question and the odds are the answer is gonna save you time and money
37:21
So please do it. Uh, please type in your question into the chat
37:27
Um Oh, I got, so II I, um, I got yesterday, I ordered two or three days ago
37:35
early in the week I ordered my new monitor and I ordered
37:41
uh, my new computer, a Mac mini and the, um, the monitor arrived yesterday
37:51
This, this thing is so big I could put it outside and rent it as a flipping billboard
37:58
I don't even know if it's gonna work on my desk. I think it's gonna work. I'll, I'll make it work but it is so
38:03
flipping wide. Oh, my gosh. But here's the thing. I get an
38:08
I get an email this morning from Apple. I or I know I ordered this on Tuesday
38:12
Yeah, I ordered it on Tuesday. No, I heard no, they just say
38:15
ok, we'll let you know when it ships. So I get an email, all your thing shipped and uh
38:20
it's gonna arrive, you know, on April 4th, complete losers, complete flipping losers
38:29
Um, I just don't know what to say. I don't. All right
38:39
all right. Management ordered a $9000 compressor was the wrong one. It was actually $1780
38:46
Uh, oh, well, but I guess sounds, I hope it wasn't your fault
38:53
So, anyway, that sucks if it is. Um, it sucks
39:03
Yeah, I like it. Money with wings. Oh, my gosh. Um, people are gonna be suffering like that
39:10
We, we talked about it many times. Inflation can be really bad and good
39:15
I'm glad it wasn't your fault. Um The uh inflation is gonna get a lot worse and there's gonna be
39:24
a whole lot of suffering. It's gonna be horrible, gonna be horrible. So I don't know what to tell you
39:32
Uh All right. So remember if you have any questions about your home now is the time to type them in uh type in your
39:37
questions. Um cause this, I didn't come with hardly anything prepared to talk about today
39:43
I just didn't um I just felt for sure that you were gonna help me out here and you know
39:50
and, and type questions just like Richard did. So Richard put a question in Richardson part two
39:56
Did I miss your first part? Richard? I'm looking up here. Did I I don't see where part one of your questions are
40:03
Um If you type part one, I don't see it. All right
40:07
Just so you know my question is what agent would you suggest to increase opacity without affecting the stickiness of her flight
40:17
I don't know. I, I have no clue what you're talking about. I don't even know what you're talking about
40:24
So sorry, can't help. You never heard of it. Uh We can return it
40:28
take another four days to arrive. Cope and compressor and we keep an extra factory
40:33
Um Yeah, so Richard, I, I have no clue what you're talking about
40:38
So beat me. Maybe some black paint. I don't know that that's sure
40:45
Heck bo uh that'll increase uh make it or no, no. Uh I'm sorry
40:51
make you wanna make increase opacity. So I don't know what you would do
40:56
I don't have a clue. I don't even know what Rolex is. Rolex
41:00
Rolex. Don't know what it is. It
41:15
is the binding, correct? OK. You're asking the wrong guy. I'm not a, I'm not a um I'm not a pain chemist
41:21
If my friend, if one, if, if my original business partner were here
41:25
John Pendry, uh John Penry has a phd in chemistry. He, his whole career
41:31
he worked for Sharon Williams. I have a, I have a feeling he probably would know
41:35
So I don't uh I don't have a clue. I'm not, I'm not a paint chemist so I can't help you
41:41
Sorry. Um Maybe there's a paint chemist forum out there somewhere you can get on
41:47
get the answer. Uh So if you have a question about your home
41:51
That's not about the opacity of reflex or reflex. Ask it. I might know the answer
41:57
I don't know that one. That's a pretty tough one. That's a pretty tough question. I am happy
42:03
Oh, I'll stay what, I'll show you in the meantime. Excuse me? Um
42:07
I, I've kind of gotten into, uh, buying these little, um, um
42:14
lessing the original, less than the, uh, matchbox, you know, the die cast of aluminum little trucks and stuff
42:22
So I bought this one. I won this one at an auction
42:26
It's kind of a neat dump truck. You know, it's a, it's called an eight wheel tipper, you know
42:30
but it's actually a, a dump truck, you know, and the tailgate works
42:33
I'm sorry, I'm moving around too much. It's in really good condition
42:38
Uh, I'm gonna repaint the yellow. I think I can match the color almost perfectly
42:43
I'm sure I can. So I got this in a few days ago. It's really, really good shape
42:47
Um, so what's funny is I've gone to, I've tried to look at some original photos and in this area
42:56
this smooth area of the truck bed. I see a lot of printing and it kind of looks to me like I'm trying to see
43:03
where, well, you can't really see it that well. Maybe you might see it here, I think
43:07
Yeah, you can see that area inside the bed where it looks like some paints coming off
43:14
I think maybe somebody repainted the bed and they painted over the lettering
43:18
I just have a feeling. Um, and then I got, I, I won that one at an auction
43:23
Then I bought another one just outright today. Uh, this is a co and it's in really good shape
43:28
It's called a grit spreader. The windshields in really good shape, paints in really good shape
43:34
This dump bed does not go up but check this out. It's got a little thing in the back that comes out if you can
43:42
see that so I can push that in, take that out. So that's the grit spreader
43:47
And inside the bed is a little slot for realism as to where the grit would go in
43:53
And I'm sure on this truck there probably was some type of conveyor belt
43:57
you know. But what's interesting about this one? The series is that the diameter of the tires is bigger than this other one just by
44:06
about a uh just under an eighth of an inch. So they're bigger wheels
44:09
So I don't know why less they did that. I don't know. I don't quite understand
44:13
but I'm what I'm trying to do. II, I had talked back in some of the um past live streams where I know this sounds
44:21
crazy. But um with respect to inflation and what's going to happen in our future here in America
44:28
you don't want to be holding a lot of cash when when all of a sudden we go off the world Reserve currency
44:34
you know, you want to have things that are not cash. So I'm
44:38
I know it sounds crazy but I'm investing in, I'm trying to invest in these cause some of these like that
44:42
that this thing here I saw, I saw an ad today, this thing
44:47
um one of these, I guess in really, really good shape, 100 and $34
44:52
Um, and, um, I only paid $10 for shipping. I only paid $5 for it
44:58
$5togetittome.So,so,youknow,mightnotbeabadideatoinvest$500inthesethings.Idon'tknow.We'llsee.Um
45:08
all right, Jack, once in a daughter, do you, do you water your garden
45:17
And, and what spring? I said, I don't have a garden. I don't have one. I just
45:21
I just grow these dumb tomatoes. I, it's, it's so much work to
45:26
to grow vegetables. We've tried it, my daughter and I, and we
45:31
you know, the, here's the trouble. Uh, we found out we have groundhogs or something
45:37
You know, once the things get up a certain height, then you come out in the morning, they're gone. And my daughter got so angry
45:44
and so she says, well, dad, we gotta build a fence and I said, well, sweetheart
45:48
I, you know, how can you say no to your daughter? And, and I just said, well, the fence is gonna cost like
45:54
the materials are gonna cost like 3, 400 bucks. I said we might as well just go buy the flipping vegetables
46:01
I mean, seriously. So, it, it just, um, it, it, it just doesn't work and
46:09
and we don't have a really great spot. I mean, I've got, I'm surrounded by a lot of trees
46:14
It's just so there's only one spot in the property that's really good
46:18
That gets a lot of sun and it's very small. So we don't do it
46:22
So, I don't, I don't, I don't do it. No. Garden. Yeah
46:30
exactly. The, um, that's, yeah, you only get, uh, youtube when I let you
46:35
uh, uh, Richard, you only get 200 characters. Um, yeah. So, yeah
46:41
what happened? And what happens is you're typing, it tells you how many characters used up and then once you go over it
46:46
it turns red, you can see the number go red. So, uh
46:53
well, I don't, well, I don't know if I'll put them around the train now because it's all a matter of scale
46:58
I don't know what scale. Um, I don't know if the scale of these
47:02
these matchbox trucks, if it, if it's the right scale, you know
47:07
that's the trouble. Um, you gotta get the right scale and you
47:11
and if you're into model railroading they make, they make scale vehicles that are their proper scale
47:19
So, I don't know, I, I don't know what scale these are
47:22
I'd have to check, um, see, pretty easy to do. It's really easy to check the scale because I know how wide a modern truck
47:31
is. You know, in these trucks, you know, these trucks are probably, you know
47:36
7 ft six. A real truck is probably 7 ft six inches wide and you can see how many inches this is
47:42
You can do the math. All right. So, anyway, um, Jimmy Hard accents
47:48
I don't know what that means. Oh, in short, I see. In short it's a complaint about the dismal quality of
47:57
Oh, ok, Richard. So now we're getting over. Hi, Marcus, how are you doing? Glad you're here
48:01
Um, so Richard, that's all you needed to tell me. All you needed to type was
48:06
um, what's a good exterior house paint? Easy go get Sherwin Williams Emerald paint
48:12
It's, uh, the last I checked it was a Urethane based paint. So go to Sherwin Williams store
48:18
Get their emerald. That's the brand, that's the sub brand. I mean
48:22
the, the overarching brand or the name of the company of Sherwin Williams
48:26
but they have a, a line of paint called Emerald, you know, just like an emerald ring
48:31
you know, and, uh, make sure in the brochure or, or go to their website and see if it says it's got a urethane resin
48:38
you buy that and you follow the instructions and you wash the house down with soap and water
48:43
don't use a pressure washer. Pressure washers do not get the house clean
48:48
Um, and, um, use an RV, brush soap and water. You should actually spray
48:55
you should actually mix up this first spray this on, let it sit 15 minutes then wash behind with soap and water
49:01
Um, and then, um, and, and follow the instructions on the label
49:07
Paint in the shade. Don't paint direct sunlight. I've got, I've got this
49:12
So when I painted my house 12 years ago here in New Hampshire
49:16
um, the paint that had the urethane was called duration where they since brought out the emerald and then the duration is now acrylic
49:27
So if you were to come to my house here in New Hampshire, there's no place where it's peeling and it looks as good as
49:33
the day we put it on. And I use that same paint on my house in Cincinnati
49:39
And I painted that house in Cincinnati 22 years ago and I just drove by the house last October
49:45
It looks like the day I painted it. It's an incredible pain
49:49
Incredible Bob we got for 50 years, but now support local farmers market
49:56
Yeah. Good for you. Yeah, it's, and, and I think you'll be the first to say it's so much work
50:00
I mean, I think the reason a lot of people garden is they enjoy doing it
50:05
You know, they, they, um, it's, it's, it's a recreation for them
50:08
It's not work. And, um, good. That's, that's, that's a great motivation
50:12
Um, I'm not that interested in it. I like to grow the tomatoes because they're so easy
50:18
you know. And II, I just started growing up from seed. I started doing that last year
50:22
It's a lot of fun. It's so much fun to see that thing sprout up after a week
50:26
It's really cool. So, um, but, yeah, I agree. Support the farmers market
50:32
But, um, I, I, uh, I don't have a big garden. Um
50:35
I got, so I want to tell you this. Uh, I just thought of something. I, it just came today and I'd already decided what
50:40
I was gonna talk about today. Uh, I just got ups dropped off maybe 23 hours ago
50:46
Um, a brand new oscillating tool cordless from the walt. So we're gonna talk
50:52
I'm gonna demonstrate that on, uh, Monday. So that's what we're gonna do on Monday
50:57
Uh, so, you know, I don't know if you know what the oscillating tools are. They're the ones that they
51:02
they just, they very rapidly go back and forth, you know, the blades
51:06
they, they like a barber's clipper say that's the best way. A barb
51:09
a clipper that a barber uses that, uh, you know, that's an oscillating tool
51:14
So, uh, you know, they come with all different types of cutting, cutting
51:18
um, things you can cut carbide metal, whatever, you know. So the
51:23
they're very, very good for, um, ee even so much, like if you're gonna
51:29
if you need to cut a hole in drywall to add an outlet, that's a really good tool to use
51:33
Um, so, um, uh, any, anyway, I'm gonna demonstrate this tool for you on Monday
51:41
Yeah, Jack. A lot of people love it. I mean, like my wife, she loves, love
51:44
loves messing with her orchids, you know, she love, love, loves it. I, I'm not that into plants
51:50
Not into I, I'm more ham radio. Right. So ham radio. Good plants
51:57
So, so I water them, but that's about it. Just, I don't get a lot of pleasure out of them
52:02
but I love eating tomatoes. I'm the only person, I'm the only one in the family that eats tomatoes. To me
52:06
there's nothing like a fresh tomato. Oh, my gosh. So tasty. Um
52:12
all right. So I hope that answered your question, Richard. Um, Sharon Williams
52:17
Paint good stuff, man. Good stuff. Really good stuff. Really. And if you watch it
52:23
uh, you, you know, they'll have a sale on it every now and then you can get, you can save 20 percent or so every
52:29
now and then. So if you're really paying attention. But really, you know
52:34
but just if you decide to use it, just make sure you follow the instructions and don't pressure wash
52:41
don't do it. Yeah. Peas, peas on there you can put in early
52:46
I mean, they're very frost resistant. I, I've heard, um, my father in law was really
52:52
he loved gardening too. When he retired. He, uh, he, he was a really
52:57
he was very good at it. And, uh, he had a marginal area too
53:00
I was always stunned at how much stuff he could produce. He loved green beans
53:04
He, he, he had, you know, like every, every 34 days he'd walk down
53:08
We, we, he only lived like six houses away from us Really unique situation
53:12
It was, my kids were so lucky they could just walk down to their grandparents' house
53:16
uh, ride their bikes, whatever, very safe neighborhood. Uh So every now and then every three or four days he would just walk down and
53:23
bring some tomatoes, brings a bag of green beans, freshly picked green beans
53:28
It was wonderful. So, um, oh, well, um, simple as that. All right
53:35
Uh If you have any questions, I'd love to answer them. Uh, Marcus. There we go
53:39
Fine. Um Where do I find all the time to do? All you do
53:44
Well, um, that's a great question. Um That's a great, you already know the answer to that question
53:53
All right. So is with any person, um, you make time, you create the time to do
54:03
the things you like to do and take that to the next level with relationships
54:08
For example, if you, if there's a person that you like, um
54:13
that you want to spend time with you, you'll do whatever possible to to create chunks of time to spend time with that person
54:21
Um, m maybe it's an old high school friend. May, maybe you'll
54:25
you, you allocate 15 minutes every weekend to call that person on the phone
54:30
I mean, you'll, you'll, you know, you, you just make the time. So the
54:34
the sad thing is there are things that, you know, around that get neglected that
54:38
that I don't care about and, um, I'm trying to change it a little bit this year for me
54:44
Um, I've been walking around too much junk and too much clutter and
54:49
and I've decided that this spring, I'm just waiting for the weather to break just a little bit more
54:54
I'm gonna have the biggest, I'm gonna, I'm stuff that I really don't want
54:58
I don't think I can sell, it's going to the dump because we have a really cool place and I
55:03
I, we didn't have anything like this in Cincinnati when I was growing up or if we did
55:06
I didn't know about it, but here in my town here we have this thing called the free room
55:10
So it's a room that's at the recycling center and, you know
55:15
there's certain things you're not allowed to bring, but just about everything else qualifies
55:20
You just bring it in, man and just drop it off and people walk in and they take it right back out
55:25
you know, and there's this one lady there. She's funny. Um, I think she's making a flipping fortune on ebay
55:31
She just, she just kind of hangs out around there. Uh, she comes in every day
55:35
She probably stops in two or three times a day and she
55:39
uh, she takes a lot of stuff out and no one and, and you're allowed to
55:43
no one says anything about it. They don't care. And, um, so someone
55:47
so whatever I give away, it's gonna get used or somebody else will sell it on ebay
55:51
So, uh, anyway, that's, uh, so Marcus, I, I, uh, I can tell you that I
55:57
um, I don't waste any time or I waste very little time during the day
56:03
Um, I, I know how valuable it is and so I just invested in doing things I like
56:10
So I hope that answers your question. Uh, Steve to subscribe to the Sherwin email and send your deals
56:17
Yeah, exactly. That's exactly right. Um, Sean is a, it's a battery tool
56:22
It's a 12 volt, 12 volt battery tool. Um, so, so, yeah
56:28
it's a micro. So they, they, what's really interesting is to walk is
56:33
uh, I don't know if they're aiming these tools. I think this tool I'm gonna ask the
56:37
uh, pr person, but I think they're trying to aim this tool for the homeowner because
56:45
um, it just doesn't seem, you know, it's not as beefy as a 20 volt
56:50
right. So it's a 12 volt and, and I got from them back in the fall and it worked really well
56:54
I got this 12 volt rotor hammer works really well. But I don't know that I'd be able to use it all day on a
57:01
job site. I think I would burn it up, you know? But for a homeowner
57:05
um, who just uses it for 1520 minutes on a weekend. Great road
57:10
A hammer man. Great. And, and you can go back and look in my past live streams
57:14
I, I did a live stream about it. Um, well, do I have a favorite driveway Sealer boy
57:22
Now, that's a great question. Oh, my gosh. Um, well, the answer is not
57:29
No, I don't. Um, because get this and, uh, I've owned this home since 2008
57:36
So that's 14 years. Never sea of the driveway. Never probably should have once
57:42
Um, it's now getting to the point where it's almost too late and there's places where the
57:47
uh, the, the driveway sunk over time over the, like, for example
57:52
there's a big kind of depression that's formed over the past four years and
57:56
and I know what's there. It's, it's where they, it's where they dug across the driveway to bring the electric
58:02
the underground electric into the house and they didn't compact the trench, they didn't do it right
58:09
And it takes a long time for that to settle. Um, the
58:13
um, there's some other things. So maybe in the next two years I might put in a new driveway
58:21
but here's what you need to know about blacktop. So, the blacktop in your driveway is really not a whole lot different at all than
58:29
the black top that's used on the roads out, out in the, out in the real world
58:33
All right. So you've never seen him seal a roadway? Never. They don't do it
58:40
The reason they don't do it is because the sealer will wear off because all the sealer is
58:44
it's just an ultra thin coating of asphalt. You know, the asphalt cement
58:50
And, um, and you know, it's, if you have very tiny micro cracks
58:55
it'll seep down and fill those. Which is a good thing. You don't, especially if you live here
58:59
where will, and I live where it freezes. I mean, if you, if your blacktop driveway is down in Florida or South Carolina
59:08
you got nothing to worry about your black top. If it's put down, right. Your black top could last 30 years
59:12
All right. Um, I mean, my black top is originally, it was put down 22 years ago and for the most part it's in really
59:21
pretty good shape. It just, they, they made some mistakes. Um, and
59:25
uh, and I cover it all in past columns. Here's the trouble if
59:29
if you're one of these people so that I'm gonna answer Will's question in reverse
59:33
I, when I lived back in Cincinnati and this is in my second home
59:37
Uh, so I would have, I was in my twenties and one of my neighbors
59:42
he lived just two houses away. He was one of these people that was
59:46
he was OC, you know, O CD. All right. And uh, he
59:50
he wanted his driveway to look perfect every year. So every year he sealed it every late spring
59:57
he would be out there brushing that black crap around and his driver looked horrible because there were places where it had peeled up
1:00:05
He put so much steer down, it would peel up and wherever peeled up
1:00:08
it looked horrible. Just like, just like an old house where you see the paints peeled and
1:00:13
and we're down to the bare wood and, and then you, you scrape it and then you paint over it
1:00:18
you can see where that paint peeled. I mean, it's so obvious. Well
1:00:21
that's what his driveway looked like all over the place. It was horrible, but by God
1:00:25
it was black, it was black. I mean, it was black as night. All right. If you're that type of person
1:00:30
if you go, I want my driveway to look really good, then you want to buy the absolute cheapest driveway sealer you can find
1:00:39
I mean, the crappiest cheapest sealer. And if you can't find it
1:00:43
then maybe you take regular sealer that's halfway decent and you probably thin it by 25% because all these seers are
1:00:51
are w they're, they're emulsified, you know, they're water based. So take some sealer
1:00:56
mix it with some water so that you thin it down because in your case
1:01:01
you, you want your, you want your ice fault driveway sealer to do the same thing that the uh the road paint
1:01:10
does here in New Hampshire. So every year here in New Hampshire, they have to paint the double yellow lines again
1:01:16
In other words, by right about now, the, the double yellow lines are getting real faint
1:01:20
you can hardly see them. And so in a month or two, they're gonna come out with the trucks and spray
1:01:25
paint them again and they're gonna be beautiful all summer and all fall you want
1:01:30
So what happens? You want your asphalt sealer? If you're that person who has to
1:01:33
every year, you want it to completely wear off by the time you get to April
1:01:37
All right. So, so anyway, we, um, the best driveway sealer is gonna be the one that's the most expensive and you
1:01:47
can put it on, but you should only be putting the driveway sealer on if
1:01:52
if your driveway has turned gray. And what by that? It means that the original asphalt cement that
1:01:59
that coated all of the sand and, and stones from the blacktop plant has worn off
1:02:05
I mean, if you, I mean, you know this, in other words, if you ever see a new roadway where they
1:02:10
they're paving a brand new roadway, what color is it the next day
1:02:13
It's pure black the roadway is black, but all of a sudden you go to that roadway three years later and it's not black anymore
1:02:22
What color is it? It's gray. The reason it's gray is because you're actually
1:02:26
if you stopped and looked down, you would see all of the stones that
1:02:31
that were used in the black top and, and that they are lighter color. And
1:02:36
um, and so the, the asphalt cement from all the traffic and weather over the year two years has worn the asphalt cement off
1:02:43
So you want that asphalt cement to wear off? So, never, never, ever
1:02:47
ever seal a brand new driveway. Never hope that helps. Don. Hello
1:02:53
Uh, Jimmy, uh, asphalt singers of, of the different materials. Uh, Florida and Hampshire
1:02:59
No, not really. Um, they, they, they may regionally, um, blow
1:03:08
a little bit more air in the shingles that go to Florida maybe
1:03:13
But, um, if you were to take an infrared camera on, on a June day in a Florida roof
1:03:19
my guess is it's gonna be pretty close to the temperature that I've measured here in New Hampshire
1:03:24
Uh, I've got infrared photos of, of my roof temperature about 100 and 65 degrees
1:03:30
So, um, they just have to make, they just have to blow enough air into the asphalt so that it stays
1:03:38
you know, solid. So it doesn't turn to liquid and run down the roof because that's what would happen if they
1:03:44
if they used it straight from the asphalt plant but the softening temperature of
1:03:48
as of asphalt from asphalt, cement from the, the refinery is about 100 and 20 °F
1:03:55
I mean, it turns to just like water. All right. So, um, I hope that helps
1:03:59
So I, I don't think that there's much of a climate change. Um
1:04:04
and I, I cover a lot of this in my roofing. Riff off, roofing, rip off book
1:04:08
Uh, if you haven't, if you have not read this book, um
1:04:13
you should at least go read the, the, the three free chapters, go here and read the
1:04:20
go, go get the three chapters and read the 33 chapters. Um
1:04:25
that's a great question, by the way, that's a really great question. All right. If you have a question
1:04:29
any kind of question doesn't matter what it is. Let me know. I'm happy to answer it. Uh
1:04:33
those are really great questions. Yeah, Sean, I'm really interested to see
1:04:38
uh, how this 12 volt tool does. Um, I have to read the
1:04:42
uh, press release. Sometimes in the press release, they'll tell you, you know
1:04:46
how many cuts it's made. You know, they, they, they've got some good
1:04:51
they've got really good mechanical and electrical engineers that work at some of these tool manufacturers
1:04:56
I've gone on editors tours, I've got to meet these engineers. Um
1:05:00
they do some really impressive testing, uh, because they really, you know
1:05:05
there's a lot of money behind these tools they don't wanna, and, and there's a brand to protect so they don't want to put crap
1:05:10
out there. You know, they don't want to put crap out there. So, uh, but you also have to understand that they
1:05:16
they make tools, they try to match the tools up with a
1:05:20
with a user. So I, I, like I said, I don't, I have to read the press release
1:05:26
I, I don't know that. Like I said, I don't know that this tool is meant to be used by a Finnish carpenter all day
1:05:32
long. I don't know that spell for that. All right. Uh Any other questions about anything
1:05:39
I don't care what it is. Happy to answer it. If you don't have any questions, I may just bug out of here
1:05:43
Um, I, uh, it's the end of the week. I've, I've worked pretty hard this week and
1:05:49
um, I'm out of things to say. I don't know what else to say
1:05:54
but I'm happy to answer questions. So I'll, uh, I know there's a delay
1:05:58
So I'll let you if you're here and you need, you've got a question, you better ask it really quickly so I can tell you
1:06:03
better ask the question and then I'll get to it. Um, what
1:06:08
uh, um, in the meantime, um, I've really been, I've really been enjoying
1:06:14
I, I told the story. I found this calculator. Uh, it had been sitting in a box for 12 years sitting in a flipping box
1:06:21
and I found it and, uh, just a standard little calculator. But it's really
1:06:26
um, it's really a nice calculator and it's got this solar charging cell and I was stunned
1:06:32
It had been sitting in a box for 1213 years. I turned it on. It worked perfectly
1:06:37
So I've been, uh, every day that it's sunny, I put it in the window to try to try to get the battery way up
1:06:42
charging, you know, but this is a really tiny solar cell, but it's also got a tiny battery
1:06:47
So I, I have long since lost the paperwork. I don't know how long you'd have to put it in the sun to fully charge
1:06:53
the battery. But, um, I was using it a couple of times today. It's a nice
1:06:56
nice little handy calculator. Um, so, you know, you know, it's not a real high powered one
1:07:03
I, I have those. In fact, I, I have a, uh, construction master one and I have this other one here
1:07:08
I'll show you. I used this calculator yesterday. I had a, um
1:07:14
there's a really neat calculator that, um, so this one is, uh
1:07:18
called the sewn and inch mate, uh, inch mate, son and inch mate
1:07:23
It's probably, this is probably 15 year old technology, but, uh, works really great
1:07:29
And this is one that is a carpenter. I would use this
1:07:34
you know, to figure out roof pitches and, and dimensions uh, it
1:07:37
it, it goes down to the 64th of an inch. It's really very powerful capability
1:07:42
You can square things up with this, you can figure out diagonals
1:07:46
Um, you know, it's just a really, so these are really cool calculators
1:07:50
very affordable. So, um, I don't know, maybe I'll write a column about him
1:07:55
you know, but I have to, I'd have to get the modern one and see what the modern ones are. But
1:07:59
um, really a great, it's a great calculator. Great. So these, this is
1:08:03
I just, so, you know, if you don't have one and you're looking for a Father's Day gift or
1:08:08
or you want to surprise your significant other who, you know, you'll never go wrong buying a calculator like this
1:08:16
All right. You know, one of the, the fancy ones that can do all the diagonals and the rise and run and all that
1:08:21
Very fascinating. Do you have any questions about it? So, it's the same one
1:08:26
I washed it. It's my American flag one. made out of the uh the uh water things
1:08:32
you know, the water things, uh squirt the thing, squirt water. Like if you like to squirt water
1:08:40
you're gonna love this shirt. Uh Yeah. So Jimmy, yeah, you can figure
1:08:47
um, that one is, so here's the other one. This is, um
1:08:54
this is the construction, construction Master pro one. So, uh and you know
1:09:00
here's the um, yeah, and so right here So look. So right there if I don't know if you can read that
1:09:08
So right there it says cubic entry and um cubic entry and conversion
1:09:14
So yeah, this will completely do all of the stuff you need to do to figure cubic yards
1:09:19
you know. So this is a, this is a and it comes through this one came with a really great manual that you know
1:09:26
goes in the back of that goes in that back slot right there. This is from calculated industries
1:09:32
They make great stuff. So calculated industries. If you wanna get one of these fancy calculators
1:09:38
that's the company right there. Great stuff. Um Great, great products, can't say enough of them
1:09:46
Um But um but I'm just saying that's a really neat gift um for that hard to
1:09:55
buy person. Um And, and especially if they're like a kind of a serious carpenter
1:10:02
they're gonna love it. They're gonna love that calculator. Yeah. Ask to build a t-shirt
1:10:07
So Jimmy, I'm working on that. I um I started on that pathway about two weeks ago and then I got derailed because I need
1:10:14
high quality vector graphics. So I uh I just kind of just kind of fell by the wayside
1:10:21
So, yeah, I, I um and then what I'm gonna do is I'm going to get the images and have people vote to
1:10:28
to see. In fact, I can, I can do that now. Um I probably
1:10:34
I think what I'll do is, um, I'll probably create a Google form and we'll do it next week
1:10:41
So it's more organized and I'll ask people what they want. Like
1:10:45
what would you wanna see on the t-shirt? Like what, you know
1:10:49
I, I mean, what I wanna do and it only would make sense to the people who watch this live stream is
1:10:55
you know, the saying is like, you know, that you've heard me say nothing about this is hard
1:11:01
you know. Uh, uh, you know, I've got some other things that we were gonna put on anyway
1:11:06
So, yes, the answer is yes. And, um, but, uh, they're gonna be pretty benign for the most part
1:11:14
you know, I, I've got to kind of protect my brand. All right. So I don't want to trash it
1:11:20
Um, so anyway, and we're gonna have hats, you know, my son's company
1:11:24
I'll show you this hat. A lot of people. I, I'm gonna give him a plug
1:11:30
A lot of people. My son works for a company called SIM. It's a privately owned company owned by a
1:11:36
a very wealthy man in the Netherlands. And they own like 3040 websites and one of them you probably know called
1:11:45
Vista. Print. All right. You've heard of VR? And you just think, oh, Vista. Yeah, they just print
1:11:49
uh, business cards if I need business card. Yeah, they do, they do print business card but they also do this
1:11:55
you know, they also you can get beautiful hats. So my son came up with this design
1:12:01
I, I came up with all this and I came up with the words, but I, I wasn't really happy with how this came out
1:12:06
because this is two words, but it looks like one. There's not enough space here
1:12:11
So, um, it says airwaves boss. All right. So, um, but this is a beautiful embroidered hat and it
1:12:19
and it doesn't have that crappy, um, stupid thing on the back
1:12:24
It's, you know, it's got some elastic in it. So it stretches. It's
1:12:27
it's a, it's a wonderful hat. So we're gonna have ask the builder hats like this
1:12:31
We're gonna have really cool as the builder hats. So, um, all right
1:12:41
uh Will says, gifts, the wife kept leaving jewelry magazines around the house
1:12:48
So I just got her a magazine rack. There's a real, I don't know if it's
1:12:54
um, if you have one where you live near you. Well, you kind of
1:12:58
do, you just have to go up the highway? Well, from your house, you know that, uh, Garder Burdock or that Gardener uh plaza
1:13:05
that big rest area. They've got that center in that rest area
1:13:09
Uh, that all this craftsman from Maine. Well, we have a really a neat place in my own town of New Hampshire Craftsman's Guild
1:13:18
I, I don't know, but there's some, there's some really talented people here in flipping New Hampshire that make jewelry and I've walked in that
1:13:24
shop a couple of times. I'm stunned at some of the jewelry that they have here
1:13:28
It's ver, it's one of a kind, uh, absolutely beautiful stuff. So
1:13:33
if you really want to surprise your wife, so the day you come to play golf, you probably ought to stop by that shop
1:13:38
So, um, really, it's right in MEREDITH. I don't know. Maybe you can buy online
1:13:43
I, I'll find out what the name is. Just put New Hampshire Craftsman's Guild
1:13:48
MEREDITH, New Hampshire. I'm sure it will come up in the Google search. Um All right
1:13:54
So anything else I can answer? Uh, otherwise I'm gonna get out of here
1:13:58
Um, I had a, I had a busy week. Uh, luckily this weekend I don't have a lot of stuff that
1:14:05
that's pressing to do. So, um, the weather, I, I looked at the
1:14:12
uh, oh, maybe Kathy or some, I think Kathy told me the other day
1:14:16
She said, did you look, did you see what the weather forecast is for next? Oh, no, no, it was my buddy
1:14:20
Jim. He told me on the phone this morning. He said, you see the weather
1:14:25
there's a day, it's only gonna be 24 degrees. Like what? So sure enough late this morning
1:14:31
whatever. I look at the phone. It's Monday here in New Hampshire where I live it's supposed to be 24 degrees
1:14:37
Are you kidding me? But that can happen in March I mean, it can happen
1:14:41
So, uh, we're gonna have a cold day on Monday. Uh, but then it's gonna kinda get back up again
1:14:47
Um, the, I, the last thing I'll say is the ice on the lake and pretty thin
1:14:52
It was very thin down in MEREDITH Bay today. I mean, they could have ice out in MEREDITH Bay over the weekend
1:14:58
Uh, but we're not gonna have ice out on my lake. I don't think of the weekend. No way
1:15:02
But um uh but ice out, I think it's gonna happen next week here on my lake
1:15:09
So that's always a wonderful day. We get the water back, you know
1:15:14
cause um it's very mesmerizing that, that's why just so, you know
1:15:19
I'll just teach you something really quickly. The reason, um the reason people are attracted to water and why uh a water view is so
1:15:28
interesting is because almost all the time the water is moving. All right
1:15:33
That resets the fight flight thing in your brain. Whereas in the winter time when the lake freezes and it just this sheet
1:15:43
of white, you just look at it and you go OK, big deal. But when
1:15:46
even when the water is just moving, um you're fascinated by it
1:15:55
95 at your brother's house in Fountain Hills, Arizona. Wow. Yeah, I know
1:16:02
I've been out in Arizona when it's hot and played golf. It's just freaking miserable
1:16:05
Oh my God. I just, I don't like playing golf when it's hot. I'm not
1:16:11
I'm, I know there's gonna be some days in the league where it's gonna be miserable. Oh, well, I'll just have to suck it up
1:16:16
and put up with it. Um. Oh, well, um, yeah, exactly. It's gonna be cold
1:16:25
on Monday. It's gonna be cold. So, oh, the, the other good thing to report is
1:16:30
uh, so it was just under a week ago. I, I changed that brake hose
1:16:35
uh, the brake line hose on my truck, my left front wheel working fine
1:16:40
That's all it was, was just the hose. It was not the caliper. So just cost me $50 in one hour's time
1:16:50
I like doing work like that. I like doing it. I mean, I'm not taking engines apart but
1:16:53
um, I sure as hell can work on breaks. They're not that hard to do
1:16:59
All right. If you got any questions, now's the time. Last call for questions. Otherwise I'm out of here
1:17:04
Um, had a pretty good week and weekend should be great. I hope you have a great weekend
1:17:10
Um, we're gonna do that tool on Monday. Um, a bit vinyl checking
1:17:17
You're checking in. I'm just about ready to check out. So, if you've got a question now's the time to ask it
1:17:23
So, don't be bashful. I'll get, I'll get an ice cube or a little bit of a drink while you're
1:17:28
uh, uh, while you're checking in. Uh, oh, so, yeah. The Carvana kid
1:17:35
she gets her car on Sunday. So everything has been approved. She gets the car on Sunday
1:17:40
She's so excited and then she's gonna drive Sunday night to go stay in a hotel for her interview on
1:17:48
um, Monday because it's a two hour drive to, to where she's gonna get interviewed
1:17:55
So I, I can't tell you where it is and she didn't tell us, but we think we figured it out
1:17:59
We, we pretty much have a really good idea of where she's going. Um
1:18:06
oh, there, now you're talking golf. Um, here's
1:18:21
the deal. Um, so will I got a question for you? Are the black flies a problem on that golf course
1:18:31
Like when the black flies are really out, do they? Is it a problem at the Fox while Will's typing that I'll ask a bit
1:18:41
a bit vinyl. Do you, do you have an interest in going to play golf up there with will
1:18:45
So we said where it was Lewiston? Lewiston Maine. All right. So it's exit number 75 on I 95 in Maine
1:18:53
If you just type that into Google Maps, you'll, you'll find where it is. It's called Fox Ridge
1:18:57
Fox Ridge, uh, golf club. It's a, it's a public course. So
1:19:01
um, let me know if you're real, if you're interested in going up there and if you're interested before that time
1:19:09
if you wanna do a round of golf with me, you know, here in New Hampshire
1:19:13
I'm all over it. All right. Ok. So I'm, I'm, I, I'll play
1:19:17
well, I'll play a warm up round here in New Hampshire. You know, before we go to Will and
1:19:22
and make fools of ourselves in front of Will. And, um, you know
1:19:29
I mean, my home course is Lock Mere and Tilton. Um, oh
1:19:35
you usually? Oh, Pheasant Ridge. Yeah, that's a great course too. I'll play Pheasant Ridge
1:19:38
I like it. Pheasant Ridge pretty, pretty easy. Course, it's easier than Lock Mere
1:19:43
So I'm, I'm all over that. I'll play Pheasant Ridge. That's a great, I, I like it
1:19:47
I'll play Pheasant Ridge. Yeah, I like it. Um, so yeah, you wanna play anytime
1:19:52
Just let me know. Um, I, you know how to get a hold of me, Tim at
1:19:56
ask the builder.com just, uh, uh, happy to, happy to do it
1:20:01
you know, I just would like the weather to be a little warmer. I mean, like a 60 degree day
1:20:06
Not if there's a breeze. Only the par 313 valleys where they can get that
1:20:10
Ok. Yeah. So I, I don't want to come up there to the fox when the black flies are out
1:20:14
Screw the black flies. I wanna have fun that day. So, we might not be coming to the Fox until the end of May
1:20:19
All right. So, um, uh, whatever. But, so, but eight bit vinyl
1:20:24
I, hopefully we're gonna get out and play a Pheasant Ridge. Great course, Pheasant Ridge
1:20:29
It's a wonderful course. I, um, I like it. Um, they got that
1:20:33
There's whole number two. So we, well, our course is nothing really like yours
1:20:37
So, hole number two will at Pheasant Ridge, uh par three, you gotta hit over this
1:20:42
this really big, really big pond, like a lake. It's big. And
1:20:46
um, I mean, it's a make shot but, um, pretty big green
1:20:51
Um, yeah. Yeah, exactly. I, yeah, it's too right now. Not this week
1:20:59
not next week. But, you know what, by the third week of April could be time and
1:21:04
and I, I for Will's advice, just, you know, I, I've never joined a league and I
1:21:10
but I joined the league at Lock Mere and, uh, I sent in my paperwork this week and I'm in and they said we're gonna
1:21:17
start playing the first week of May. So maybe you and I could play
1:21:23
you know, third for, you know, a month from now, you know, would be a great time
1:21:26
So we'll talk about it. Yeah. Yeah, that, that pond, I mean
1:21:32
I mean, Will, is a pro. Will is a pro. He, he's played all these. He knows
1:21:36
But that's, I, I've never, I don't think I've ever been in the water but I've been a little short of the green and I
1:21:42
know one time I was a little long on that hill but, uh, it's a pretty big green
1:21:46
Um, So, it's, it's a, that's, that I think to me, I'm trying to think about it
1:21:52
I think that's the hardest hole on the course. I think to me, I don't know
1:21:56
Um, it's a great course though. It's a great course. So, um
1:22:02
uh, I don't know. I'm, well, I'm gonna say that, I mean, I know I hit it with an iron
1:22:08
I'm gonna say, uh, 1 51 60 I don't know. To the
1:22:15
uh, I'm just guessing Sean 78 and 78 in Fort Lauderdale. You're killing me
1:22:24
you're killing me. Oh, my gosh. Um, I haven't been to Florida in a while
1:22:31
I haven't been to Florida. I used to go every June for the Sears editor's conference
1:22:36
Yeah, I would agree with that a bit. Uh, 165. I would agree with that because that's why I would use my for iron
1:22:44
I get, I mean, my irons are, are right where they're supposed to be if
1:22:49
if I will, can tell me if I'm right. I always thought that
1:22:53
um, the number on the iron, like a four iron, you match that up it to make 10
1:22:59
So in other words, my four iron will go 100 and 60 yards
1:23:04
I mean, that's what it does and my seven goes 130 my eight goes 120
1:23:08
You know, so it's, um, that's as long as I keep my head down and don't open up the club face
1:23:18
Um, So the second nine will, um, you know, I can't remember a bit
1:23:25
The um, 11 of the nine seems easier than the other. Um I can't remember
1:23:34
Um, but it, it's not all I can remember is the Pheasant Ridge is not a tough course
1:23:40
It's not, I mean, lock, mirror, lock mirror. It's got some holes
1:23:46
man that will rip your flipping heart out. I mean, like, you know
1:23:53
but Lock Meres also got a lot of what I consider very wide, open, easy holes too
1:23:56
So I, I don't know, I, what I should do more often is probably just keep my
1:24:03
keep the driver in the flipping truck. Don't even bring it, don't, don't even take it on the course
1:24:08
I've said this, you know, II I think I told the story. So this is probably
1:24:12
um, 18 years ago, my kids, I was kind of into golf back then
1:24:18
but I sucked, I didn't still golf enough. So my kids bought me a for lesson
1:24:25
um, package with a golf pro in Cincinnati. And we ended up becoming friends this golf pro really good guy
1:24:33
He's a really good guy, really was into the internet. And um, his name is Joel Suggs
1:24:38
So Joel Suggs Suggs, look him up and one of the cool things that he offered is you could
1:24:45
one of the lessons he would play nine holes with you and I had all
1:24:51
I mean, I know this sounds crazy but my bucket list was, I always wanted to play a round of golf with a pro because
1:24:58
I wanna see how they do it. And, um, the first hole
1:25:03
the, I'm not kidding. The first drive it was a par four hole
1:25:08
He drives it into the freaking rough. He slices it, you know
1:25:12
into the fricking rough. I was like, are you serious? You know
1:25:16
and, um, you know, but he goes out there, second shot, puts it on the green
1:25:23
So they, you know, they got these superpowers, you know. So a anyway
1:25:27
but, um, what, what he taught me the biggest takeaway. It was
1:25:34
it's about distance, it's not about aim and, and most of us hackers are more focused on aim than we
1:25:43
are distance. And that becomes exceedingly important when you are on or near the green because if you watch pros
1:25:52
um, when they either they put or they chip general like it chipping
1:25:57
If they're chipping, they probably can get the ball to stop within
1:26:02
I'm, I'm just gonna say this. Well, I could be wrong. I don't watch a lot of TV, golf, but when they're chipping in pretty
1:26:08
close, when they're close, they seem to be able to get the ball within 6 to 8 ft of the hole when they're putting
1:26:15
if they're putting on the green just about, no matter where they are on a green. If, even if it's a big green
1:26:20
if they miss, um, they're, they're ok with that. Generally, generally they're ok with missing
1:26:26
but they want the ball to stop within about this far of the hole. And they're usually
1:26:30
most of them are very good about that because then it's a tapping for most
1:26:33
I mean, they miss some of those. But, um, that's what the pro taught me about distance
1:26:39
So I'm really pretty good on the green. Like I've got that down
1:26:43
I mean, I have to practice and I know the greens can get faster as the day goes on
1:26:48
But you'll see most hackers, I mean, the problem with most hackers is they're sitting there lining up a putt lining it up and they
1:26:56
hit the ball and they miss and it stops 10 ft later or it's
1:27:00
it's 8 ft short. I mean, that's, that's death on a stick
1:27:05
That's, that's bogey golf or double, double bogey golf right there. All right
1:27:11
Uh I feel like the front line is harder. I think I would agree with you on that
1:27:15
I think that's what I agree. I think about that. I'm just kinda pull a mental image up
1:27:20
I didn't play Pheasant Ridge last year. I played it three times the year before
1:27:25
Um All right, uh, actually played 18 holes yesterday. Good for you
1:27:33
Good for you. Our course is up here in New Hampshire just starting to open up Sean
1:27:37
just starting to open up. So, um, we should do a ask the golfer live stream one day
1:27:47
All right. Uh, one thing we're gonna definitely do, I swear to God, we're gonna do this when
1:27:53
when, now, if a bit goes with this, it's gonna be a lot of fun. If a bit goes with us to the fox
1:27:58
goes with me to the fox because we'll drive up, well, hopefully we'll drive up together. We'll figure out a way to do that because
1:28:03
it'll be so much more fun. Um The, um, we're gonna record a video for all the live streams
1:28:11
all of our friends that can't make it and it's gonna, it's gonna be the video where I don't know if Will wants to be
1:28:17
on the video, it's up to him. But if not, I'm gonna describe the whole and I'm gonna describe
1:28:22
So this is what we're supposed to do. This is what we're trying to do here and then we're gonna do the confessional after we
1:28:30
walk off the green, we're gonna do the confessional and, and say what happened
1:28:35
It's gonna be, so it's gonna be a great video. I'm telling it can be a great video
1:28:41
Uh I've, I've only played Canterbury one time. Um, yeah, it's gonna be a great time
1:28:48
We're gonna have a great time, Marcus for two shots and Fairy shots. You need consistency in the swing
1:28:52
Absolutely. Absolutely. Marcus Marcus. Do you play, uh, you're in Ireland, right
1:28:58
Do you play, um, do you play golf, Marcus? So you got me to stick around by
1:29:08
by talking about golf. You got me to stick around. Um, will I cannot wait
1:29:13
I mean, will, is, will, is a good golfer, man. He's, um, he's a freaking hustler
1:29:18
We're not, you know, I, I, although I'm will, I think I'm willing to bet 50 cents a hole with will
1:29:22
I, I may do, I may do 50 cents a hole if he's willing to do it. Ok
1:29:27
Good, good for you. Uh, good for you. Marcus. Um, um, I'm a
1:29:32
I'm a typical hacker. All right. So that's what we call us in America
1:29:36
Uh, I, um, I don't know. My handicap is, uh, let's see
1:29:40
what would it be? 30? I don't know, 30 somewhere between 3035
1:29:45
I don't know. Uh, I've only been in the nineties, I think four times in my life
1:29:50
Bring your quarters. Exactly. We have some great courses but I'm not the best
1:29:58
Yeah. And that's how I am. Just so, you know, I'm not one of these guys that bends clubs or throws clubs
1:30:05
Um, if I, if I lose a ball, I know this sounds crazy. Like if I hit a ball off
1:30:10
it goes into the woods. I just laugh. I go, there's a gift for somebody
1:30:14
Seriously, because, I mean, think about it every time it, think about it when you've gone out and you've been looking for balls and you
1:30:20
find them and you find someone that are in good shape. I mean, it's like Christmas morning
1:30:24
I'm serious. Most people are like, oh, I found two or three balls so every time I make a bad shot I've just made somebody
1:30:31
happy in the future. I mean, what's wrong? That's, you can't get any better than that
1:30:35
you know? Oh, will, is gonna kick our ass. It's just gonna kick our ass
1:30:39
We're gonna, I mean, he's gonna make so much money off the hole is he's gonna pay for lunch force
1:30:44
you know? Yeah, I'll be trying too, too hard to mess up
1:30:50
Yeah. Right. It's gonna, we, we're just going for fun anyway. It doesn't matter
1:30:54
I'm going for the social thing. So, um, uh, so I don't, I don't
1:30:57
I don't get upset ever about anything. And the reason why is because I'm not
1:31:02
I'm not a professional. All right. So if I was a professional
1:31:07
I might grumble a little bit. Um, if I had a bad shot
1:31:11
you know, but, you know, the way I look at it and I know I already know I've had people answer like I
1:31:17
here's what I know. I just know that Phil Mickelson, he cannot
1:31:22
I don't think he can cut a roof raf. I don't think he can do it right the first time
1:31:27
Uh, I don't for sure he can't cut a hip rafter or hip jack or a valet jack Rafter
1:31:33
I know I know he can pay somebody else to do it but that's not what we're having play here
1:31:37
It's like, ok, Phil, I'll do some golf, but then you've got to do some roof framing
1:31:42
So, uh, everybody's got a different set of skills. So, yeah, mocha chip ice cream
1:31:49
Two miles from the course. I'm all over that. Um, yeah, exactly
1:31:55
Right. Yeah. And I don't, uh, like in, in the height of the summer as you will know
1:31:59
a eight bit knows we, we have poison ivy up here so I'm allergic to poison ivy
1:32:03
So I know exactly what it looks like. So I'm always looking for poison ivy at the edge of the tree line
1:32:10
If there's poison ivy, I'm not going in, not going there. Um
1:32:15
so anyway. All right. Well, I'm gonna get out of here, uh
1:32:19
hour, 32 minutes long time. Um, starting to cloud up here. Uh
1:32:25
I don't know what's gonna happen tomorrow. We'll see. So, um, we're gonna have fun
1:32:30
So that's gonna be cool a bit. So, we, we wanna play in about a month. If we can
1:32:34
That would be great. And my schedule is wide open. So I can, I can
1:32:38
uh, I can just play just the only time I can't play is Sunday morning. You know, because I go to church
1:32:43
So, uh, yeah. Um, yeah, the poison ivy, bad stuff. Now, I learned a lot about poison
1:32:50
I'm highly allergic but I learned this about, I finally with the internet
1:32:55
I finally figured it finally learned about it so I can take poison ivy the plant and rub it on my arm
1:33:04
rub it on my hands, rub it on my face. I won't get it because what happens
1:33:09
You have so much time, uh, depends on the temperature but you have so much time to wash your
1:33:14
wash it because the oil. So I've tested it before. I've taken poison
1:33:19
I would put it on my arms and I just go inside. Got this really good soap
1:33:23
Wash my arm really, really well. Wash it, wash it twice, don't get it
1:33:28
So it's just a matter of, um, and I'm not gonna do this golfing
1:33:32
I'm not gonna carry water with me and soap, but it's just that
1:33:36
you know, if you just wash your, where you touched, but the problem is
1:33:41
is you won't know you can get it on your pants or on your shoes and if you tie your shoes and you forgot about
1:33:46
it, you know, the oil of the poison Ivy plant is still on the shoelaces
1:33:51
So all of a sudden you've got poison Ivy in between your fingers and there's nothing more painful than those stupid blisters in between your
1:33:57
fingers. It's horrible. Um, uh, I have, I have days off the end
1:34:04
Ok. Yeah, we wanna play at the end, we wanna play weekday. We def, especially if we can play on a Thursday
1:34:10
Thursday would be amazing. Well, until my league starts. I, I my league is Thursday afternoon
1:34:16
But, um, weekends are just so crowded. You know? I don't, I don't know

All right. Um, yeah. Yeah, exactly. No, you just have to wash and
1:34:34
like, if you get in contact you just gotta wash and, and with it and you got a few hours you got
1:34:38
it doesn't have to be in minutes. You can, you can wait an hour sometimes. All right, go read about it
1:34:42
go read about poison ivy and washing hands. Um All right. I'm gonna get out of here
1:34:46

1:35:09
full of these, these, I imagine these unicorns and rainbows and then at the end after we
1:35:18
walking off 18, it's gonna be like, what was I thinking? It's gonna be such a good video
1:35:27
Oh my gosh. 00 yeah. Hit the like the golfer button. Exactly
1:35:33
Yeah, we didn't get many likes today, man. People were stingy, stingy on the flipping lakes
