Good morning. I'm Tim Carter and you're watching as the Builder. And this is a
0:08
uh, this is kind of a new time for a live stream
0:13
It's, um, 815 in the morning here, Eastern time on the east coast
0:20
right here in central New Hampshire. I'm up here in the Man Cave and I'm glad you're here
0:27
Uh If you have, this is, this can be kind of a unique uh, live stream
0:31
gonna give you kind of a peak of, uh where the future of
0:35
uh, ask the builder is going to be what's gonna happen and I'll give you some context as to as to how we got here
0:43
what, what uh what, what could cause this live stream to happen
0:48
Uh But first of all realize if you have uh any questions about your home
0:52
that really don't have anything to do with the future Vasa Builder. Feel free to put it in the chat
0:57
If you're, um, if you happen to have a youtube account, you're gonna be able to use the chat
1:01
If you are watching the live stream and you, uh, you don't have a youtube account
1:05
Uh, I think it's pretty much impossible for you to enter anything in the chat
1:11
Uh And if you, if you don't have a youtube account, it's easy to get one
1:14
You don't have to upload a video to, to um to have one. Your
1:18
your biggest challenge is going to be coming up with a user name because uh I don't know how many users they're on
1:25
on youtube, but there have to be millions, 100 maybe hundreds of millions of people
1:32
So if you think your name is available to, you know, as a user name
1:35
think again. Hi, Jimmy, how you doing? Great that you're here. Um OK
1:44
The um, let me, uh once again, I'll just remind you if you just happen to tune in
1:49
If you have any questions about your home, I don't care what they are
1:53
Uh just type it in the chat uh that, you know, I do, I do these live streams to help you save time and money
2:00
That's, you know, I invest my time to help you simple as that. Uh Nothing
2:04
no, there's nothing hard about this and uh happy to do it. The uh sometimes though the question that you ask maybe a little too
2:12
complex, I may need to get more information. I may need to see photos. We may have to kick it up to
2:17
to a phone console, but that doesn't always happen. Let's talk a little bit about the future of as the builder
2:24
Ok. That's why you're here probably, here's what happened. The, um, kind of goes back in time
2:33
II, I guess, um, might have been eight years ago. I did a
2:40
I did a deck stain test and I had II, I had decided to
2:46
I, I was getting so many emails from people that they, they wanted to know
2:51
They were, they were so frustrated with deck seers and many years ago
2:55
like 25 years ago, uh, I had discovered quite by accident a really good deck ser at the time and it was made by a
3:03
small company, uh, in Richmond, Indiana and it was a penetrating, uh
3:10
DEXI and the, there weren't many of the deck sealers at the time were that way
3:17
And the, the problem is is that when you apply a, typically when you apply a penetrating a deck sealer
3:24
the, the finish is, is kind of a matte finish. And, um
3:29
it, it was acceptable. And, um, but as time went on and I have no
3:37
I have no, I have no data to prove this. You, you know
3:41
you would have to have hacked into the manufacturer's websites which is illegal
3:46
uh, to find out their inter office communications and, and their plans
3:54
But if it's anything like the shingle industry, uh, because I, if you
3:58
if you're not aware of it, I wrote a book about why your asphalt shingles are falling apart so quickly
4:04
Um, I had a deep throat source for that book. And a person that was very
4:10
very, very high up in the asphalt shingle industry. And he told me the truth of what was going on that
4:17
that you can get, you can read all about it at Roofing Rip off.com. I'm not here to really try to sell that book
4:21
I'm just trying to tell you that. I know that there were some very unethical practices going on in one home improvement industry that
4:31
automatically makes me suspect that there might be unethical practices happening in other verticals such as deck sealers
4:40
Fast forward to 10 years ago. Hi, Elaine. Good morning. It's great that you're here
4:47
What do you know? Um, I didn't know that you had a youtube account
4:50
What do you know? That is amazing. Good for you. Um, as I said
4:57
the, the deck sealer industry I think started to transition about 13 years ago
5:03
I have, I, I just kind of saw it happen. And one thing that is a commonality is that most people
5:10
you may be one of them are very disappointed with the, with the
5:16
the performance of the deck seers, meaning they only last for like a year or two
5:21
So some fail in just months. And I'm not, I, you know, I, so I decided to do a test
5:28
Um, I decided to do a test and this was like I said
5:32
89 years ago, I, I think I got 13 or 15. I don't know
5:38
I got I got a lot of stains. I, I went out and bought a bunch, some companies donated them
5:43
But I had to, I, I put out a lot of money and a lot of time and I, I cut pieces of both treated
5:49
lumber and cedar because those are the two most common, um, woods
5:54
Uh, I applied the stain. I took photos. I, I did, it went to
5:58
it was a lot of work. I'm telling you it was a huge amount of work. Uh I amounted them to a test board
6:04
Uh I, because I've been to like, I've been to the Paint Quality Institute, I've seen how they do actual test panels
6:09
uh that, uh uh you know, out in the field, just like you see uh solar photovoltaic panels
6:15
Uh uh Many te paint companies do these very specific testing methods
6:20
but I, I decided to just lay it flat just like your deck would be because that's gonna be the best test
6:26
And a year later I published the results, right. So a lot of work
6:32
a lot of work went into this and at the time, the one that did the best
6:37
Well, here's what happened, understand that there was a big transition in deck sealers and instead of them being flat and matte finish
6:47
many of them were shiny, they were glossy and to, to, to do that
6:52
they, they transition from being a penetrating product like a traditional interior wood stain
7:00
All right. In, in other words, a traditional interior wood stain. If you stain wood, you apply the stain and it soaks into the wood
7:06
All right. And then you may coat it with varnish in the old days or coat it with clear urethane
7:11
Now today, so I immediately saw that these all had a shiny finish after they dried
7:17
And so that told me right away, most of these were now film performers, meaning there was a film that formed on the surface and
7:26
that just like paint. So paint is a film form. It's the ultimate film form
7:32
In other words, when you, when you paint something, you apply a film to whatever you're covering
7:37
be it wood, a plastic metal. Like in other words, the paint on your car is a film on the
7:44
on the metal. All right, publish those results. And at the time
7:51
believe it or not, the, the, the, the one that did the best was a film form made by beer and beer is an independent
8:00
paint company. It was at the time, I don't know if it's since been sold
8:04
but they primarily sold their products at Home Depot. It's not at the time I did this test
8:10
Behr was not owned by Home Depot. It was not a house brand and
8:15
and subsequently that bear product did fail it peeled off, but after a year
8:20
it looked pretty good. And then, um then what happened is my doc uh
8:29
I lost four of my dock panels. I have a dock that goes into my lake and
8:33
and there was a horrible storm one night and four of the panels came up
8:39
the, the waves got underneath the dock, lifted the panels up the wind
8:43
Who knows what happened to him? Who, who knows? They either shattered them or they drifted down the lake
8:49
Um, you know, maybe Charlton Heston was using him, you know, to film a scene of an upcoming movie
8:53
Who knows the, um, that was a joke. Fred Hoffmeister's here. Are you kidding me
9:02
Uh George H no. Sound of video. Guess what? George? That's problems that you're in
9:11
Uh All right. Hi, Elaine. Uh Charles Morrison. Hello? Hi. All right
9:17
Charles. All right. So, anyway, uh thanks for checking in. Everyone really surprised to see Fred here
9:22
Fred boy, an old time youtube user to have your name. Wow
9:26
that's great. They, so I had to get a new do. I had to put
9:30
build new panels. I had to build new panels and this was two years ago. So I had to buy some brand new cedar wood
9:38
and the, my previous doc, my panels, whoever built them. Uh Well
9:45
I, I know who it was Center Harbor Dock and Pier. They, they had coated the panels with a film farmer and so they were
9:52
starting to peel and it looked horrible and I thought I'm done with it
9:56
I am, I'm gonna try to find a product, uh that is not a film form
10:02
There's gotta be an old fashioned penetrating, you know, deck stain. So off
10:08
I went to try to find it and I think I found it. So two years ago I had
10:13
I had to rebuild the dock panels. Uh I couldn't get the lumber and the exact length I wanted
10:18
I had to buy it a little longer. So I ended up with these pieces of scrap about
10:23
I don't know about this long. I bought the stain. Uh I applied it
10:29
My daughter helped me. I decided to do a test. I decided
10:34
I thought, ok, let's see how well this really holds up. And I applied the stain just exactly as they said
10:43
I applied it to the dock panels. I applied it to this one test section
10:48
I, you know, it's an exact same piece of wood I left
10:51
left him outside to dry for a day. And the next day I took that s sa sample piece and I brought it into my
10:58
couch and I put it underneath my workbench. All right. So I wanted it out of the light
11:03
I didn't want any weather to get on it. I just wanted it hidden. All right
11:07
because that was gonna become the control because I thought, OK, we're gonna see how well this
11:11
this stain really does. So two years went by. So here it is
11:15
Now the, the, the stains been down 22 months and I, um
11:24
decided, ok, this spring I'm gonna do, I'm gonna do a video to show people how well it's done because it's surprising to me
11:33
it's really surprising how well the stains held up could last another year
11:38
Maybe two, easily, maybe, maybe, maybe two more years. That's four years
11:42
That would be unheard of unheard of to. I had one of my subscribers
11:48
All right. So let me, let me, let me keep going. I announced this in my newsletter
11:53
It, it seems like a month ago I announced it, it was just last week. Yeah
11:58
And I, I decided that I was gonna, it, it, oh, you need to know that in 10
12:04
8 years ago when I did the other test, I charged people for the results. They, they paid just like you would go to consumer
12:09
reports. And so people paid was not a lot of money. I don't
12:13
I don't know what it was. $7.08 dollars, $9. I don't know. And
12:19
uh, so I, I said, ok, instead of me just guessing at what's a fair price
12:23
I think I'll ask, I'll ask my subscribers to my newsletter. All right
12:27
you may be one and I, I do that last week and I
12:33
I put in, uh, you can actually see it. Let me, let me show you where it was
12:37
uh, you know, uh, you know, you, you may already know, but I'm just gonna find it for you and paste the link in
12:43
I'll share what the survey was so you can see the differences
12:47
Um It was a, here we go. I'm trying
12:56
to pull up the link so I can paste it in for you. Here we go. All right
13:05
Here's, here's where the service. Hello, Louise. Um Andrew. I'll get with
13:14
your question just a second. I um gave people a choice. So
13:20
uh well, here's what you also need to know before I created that survey. I went online
13:25
I've been talking recently on my other live streams about inflation and how out of control pricing is
13:31
And, you know, I hadn't bought deck stain for a while. So I went and started to look and some of these deck stains
13:38
$50agallon,$50agallon.Hohohowmanygallonsdoyoudoyouneedfortheaveragedeck?Idon'tknow,fourorfive,you
13:47
know. So I, I, then I, I have a newsletter subscriber who lives not too far away from me
13:55
And he, he, he hired me three years ago for a, a big consult
14:00
uh, had a big problem with this builder and we, we kind of became friends and I've
14:04
since, you know, shared ice cream with him and his wife up in Bar Harbor
14:08
we've got a really neat relationship. He emailed me and says $50
14:12
Are you kidding me? He says I have to pay 100 and $2 for the stain I use and it only lasts two years and
14:19
I need 10 gallons. So this guy's spending $1200 on his deck every two years
14:28
So I go, so I thought, ok, is it worth $50 to find out a
14:32
a dexter? That may be a lot better. So, I, I, you can see in that survey that I
14:37
I just listed at, what? 5040 I don't know, 30 2010, I don't know
14:42
And then I put in there, this is the key. This is what I'm getting to. I put in there
14:46
It should be free with an unhappy face. Well, not unhappy, but like um like
14:53
are you serious? Should be free? That that was my intention when I put that in
14:57
So it was a real biased answer. So like a as of a few days ago
15:03
38% of my, the people that took the survey felt that it should
15:07
the results should be free. So this past Monday, once again, this is all the context leading
15:16
up to what the future of the builder is. That's so hang in here
15:20
hang in there. Um I, I asked my live, I told my live stream people about
15:29
this. I said, look at this, the results have been coming in for a day
15:33
And this 30 I said, should I ask these people why they think it should be free
15:38
And 80% of the people on the live stream said yes, because I
15:42
you can conduct a poll here. It's really pretty. It's a lot of fun. It's, it's kind of a weak tool but you
15:47
you can, you can do a poll. And the, um, so the next day I
15:55
I do this poll, I just say, tell me why you think it should be free
15:59
So, the answers came in and they were just, some of them were just shocking
16:02
They hi, I just was like looking, I'm like, you can't be serious
16:08
And uh so I started to think about it and then I also uh contacted a
16:16
a really good friend of mine. Um, his name is David Lawrence and he's a big Hollywood actor
16:21
I've known David for about 20 years and we're really good friends and um whenever II I
16:28
um whenever I like, shake my head and go and need it
16:32
need like a hard reset. In other words, like if you have to, if your phone starts stack funny
16:37
it's best to turn it off completely, turn it off, let it rest for five minutes
16:41
turn back on. So a hard cold reset, you know, cold boot and do the same thing with your computer
16:46
Do the same thing with your modem, do the same thing with your router. Um and things work a lot better
16:50
So I, every now and then I do a cold reboot with David and David basically said
16:56
Tim stop. He said this is this past week he goes, I've told you for years that you've got the best home improvement
17:06
content on the internet. No one can come close to you. You know
17:10
And I mean, I'm saying that and trying to, trying to not sound pretentious
17:14
All right, this is David saying that. And uh he, he just says
17:18
you, you, you should never ever feel ashamed for, for charging people a very fair price for
17:25
for, for, for knowledge that that's gonna save them time and money. So I
17:28
I couldn't, I couldn't argue that. That's, that's true. I mean, you do that all the time when you buy products
17:33
All right. If you, because if you, if you don't want to buy the product, well, then just make it yourself
17:38
I mean, go ahead and just, just, I mean, seriously, like, in other words, if you, if you don't want to pay the money at
17:42
at the harbor store for a hammer, well, then just go out and find some steel and for
17:47
get a forge and get it. W I don't make a, make a hammer yourself
17:51
All right. You don't have to buy one, right? And so I
17:59
then I was, I was just here in my office thinking and don't worry
18:04
Andrew, I'm gonna get to your question just a second and I just, I wanna get to this break off point and then I'll
18:09
uh, I'll get to your question. I was looking on my wall it's right there
18:15
I, I know you can't see it but I'm looking right over at it and if you've ever been to a
18:20
um, a restaurant or, uh, uh, I, I don't, I don't go to bars a lot at all
18:26
I, I, I'm not a drinker but, but it, I'll go if somebody invites me and typically at a bar very near the cash register
18:34
uh, and of course, this is gonna change, you know, with, with everybody using credit card
18:39
But, but in the old days, they, they would, you'd see framed on the wall or you'd see thumb tech wall
18:44
a dollar bill or a $5 bill, whatever it is, that, that was the first dollar
18:48
That was the money from the first customer. And they just kind of, it's like a trophy
18:52
They, they put it up on the wall. Well, I, I have my first dollar
18:56
I have my first dollar. It's a, it's a check that was written by the wife of
19:01
of my best friend back in Cincinnati. And, and the day my first ask the builder column appeared at the bottom of the column
19:08
Uh, there was a little tagline that said, send in for builder bulletin
19:12
whatever, uh to get all this other extra information. So it was premium content
19:19
This is back in 1993. All right. And so my friend's wife immediately sends in the check
19:26
Uh, she, you know, of course, I mailed it to her, but I never cashed the check. It was the first
19:30
it was the, literally the first dollar I got for the builder. I take David's information what he told me in that phone
19:40
call and email and, and, and looking at, and then looking at that and I
19:46
and I thought, ok, I know exactly what I'm gonna do. I know exactly what I'm gonna do where the future is gonna be
19:54
And I'll tell you that in just a minute. As soon as I answer Andrew's question. All right
20:00
And if you have a question, feel free to go ahead and ask and happy to answer it. Um
20:04
I'll answer questions, you know, a as I continue down the pathway of the future of ask the builder
20:11
Wow, Lorraine's here. What do you know? And Jason, oh my gosh
20:15
The Lurker. Jason, the man of few words. All right. All right
20:21
Uh, here we go. Recently. I bought a house and noticed the sewage plant is in a concealed space with no room to rot or
20:28
scope. I can, I just put a 90 bend on that. Uh Yeah, sure
20:32
But it, it should be a sweep 90. Uh, you know, there's two different types of nineties
20:37
There's a hard 90 a sweep 90. The sweep 90 has a bigger radius
20:41
So the answer is, yeah, go ahead. Whatever it takes for you to
20:45
uh, be able to get access. The Lurkers here. Let's keep going and then
20:54
I will also paste in a link if I can um cause you may have missed it up above
21:04
So once again, talk with David. He's the North Star. He's the
21:09
he's the David's advice. I mean he's a profe he's super good at selling or marketing uh premium content uh
21:19
made a big business out of it. And then I look at my first dollar and then two days ago at 5 a.m. in the
21:28
morning, still dark outside here in New Hampshire. I have another vision
21:33
I've had several in the past 28 years and I tell the story about them and the newsletter tomorrow
21:40
Like if you don't, if you're not getting my newsletter, you better sign up today. If you want to see this story
21:44
It was the, it was the best I should say this. I had the most fun writing the newsletter
21:50
I did it spent about four hours on it yesterday. A long time real and I went over it and over it and over it
21:56
re edited it, re edited it anyway. So it's, if you, you must see my newsletter tomorrow is all I can tell
22:02
You gotta see the newsletter. So it's easy to do. Just go to ask the builder.com right on the home page
22:07
Just put your name, your email address, double check to make sure your email address hit the submit boom
22:13
Magic happens. But what's gonna happen is you'll get an email right away
22:17
And you, you, you know how to do this, you'll get it from everybody else. You have to open that email and you have to
22:21
hit that confirmation link and if you don't do that, then you're not gonna get the newsletter and that's a double opt in system and
22:28
and that, that makes sure that you're the person who signed up and it preserves the purity of my list
22:35
Um You know, because you don't want to have a bunch of spam spam emails going out
22:41
All right. So, um, let me check in, see, uh, before I keep going
22:48
Um Once again, if you have questions about your home that have nothing to do with the future of the builder
22:54
go ahead and ask them in the chat. That's, that's why I'm doing this live stream this morning. All right
22:57
So we, we thought we would test it out. We wanted to typically I do them at four in the afternoon
23:02
I thought, let's and I had a, a friend of mine on the stream two or three days ago
23:06
Hey, mix it up, try one in the morning. See what happens, especially a Saturday morning when
23:10
when you might be off work. So we'll see how it works out. Um Let's see
23:19
Um 100 says, hi, Tim Justin from Connecticut. I have a concrete sidewalk with a negative slope towards the house foundation
23:28
What fix can I do to slope? Um Well, for the best advice would be for me to see a photograph
23:36
Um, what you can do is you can do an overlay. Uh
23:42
you can do AAA concrete overlay on the sidewalk. You could add
23:46
you might be able to, once again, I, I don't know, I'm not there. You might be able to add concrete like a wedge of
23:54
concrete. So it would be thicker on the house side and go down to nothing on the
23:59
um, driveway side, I guess. Or the neighbors side and then it
24:04
it produces pitch away from the house. But the problem is you have to make sure that you can add enough soil on in between
24:12
the sidewalk and the house. I mean, once again, I don't know if the sidewalk touches the house
24:16
I, you know, I don't, I don't have enough information from you and, uh, you
24:21
you know that, that you're not causing that the concrete or that the soil doesn't get too high up against the house on the house
24:27
side. So that's one way to do it and you know, that you might be able to do that without having to tear out the
24:33
sidewalk and start over. Um, Jason. Well, here's what's gonna happen, Jason
24:41
Hello, Bob. How you doing? Um, Elaine mornings are really good for me
24:45
For me too. Elaine. I, mornings are the best. II, I run out of gas in the afternoon
24:50
I mean, I like today I was, I was out of bed at 430. I mean, I was, I mean
24:56
I, I had had eight hours sleep. So why should I stay in bed any longer? So here's what's gonna happen
25:03
Jason. Just so, you know, um, it's now April 2nd and I can tell
25:13
you by May 1st, I'm not gonna be doing AAA live stream every afternoon
25:16
not gonna happen because once the good weather hits here in New Hampshire
25:21
uh, I've, I, I moved here from Cincinnati to take advantage of the good weather
25:27
So once the good weather hits, I'm outside, I'm not, you know
25:31
I, I'm outside and doing, I could be kayaking. I could be doing outdoor radio
25:36
What, what, whatever. Um So I'm gonna cut back on the live streams and
25:43
uh, you're right, we may switch them to the morning and I just may do two a week
25:47
Who knows? We, I don't know what's gonna happen, but I know there's not gonna be one every week
25:50
every afternoon. That's not gonna, we're not gonna do that. That's not sustainable through the summer
25:56
All right, let's get back on track about the future versus the builders. So, if you want to see where as the builder is going
26:04
you can go here. This is a brand new column that I wrote and the
26:13
format that I used to use in my columns years ago, uh
26:18
because you're limited in space. Uh You, you could only write so many words
26:23
the editors would not let you write anymore is I would share with you what you need to do
26:31
And then as a separate document that you could pay, this is going back
26:35
I understand this is going back 2528 years. You would pay me two or $3 uh for a document
26:42
typically a four page document that would then tell you how to do it
26:47
Like all the steps involved because in a typical column, there's just not enough room
26:52
You, you cannot go into all the detailed information you need to have
26:56
And um so um that's where I'm going because um the the
27:04
the the model of putting up content on the internet for free is broken
27:09
That is not working. This is why many, many publishers over the past 10 years have switched to some of them to a full blown
27:17
subscription model for like consumer reports. In other words, if you go to consumer reports.com right now
27:23
you're not seeing anything. You don't get to see one thing. No, you just hit with a home page
27:28
So you, you, you want to see a report, you got three options, you know
27:32
here's the three prices. OK. Fine home building. Probably my biggest competitor
27:40
Same exact thing. They have some free information online, some but you want
27:45
you wanna get all their past archives, you gotta pay, you want their premium content
27:50
you gotta pay. Is it a lot of money? No. Um Is it gonna save you time and money
27:55
Yes. All right. So, um, so that's where I'm going. In other words
27:59
And you can see an example in that column right there. In other words, I, I share with you people want to colorize their concrete
28:06
They, they don't like the color of it and they want to change color. So
28:10
uh I tell them what to do what to do. But if you wanna know how to do it
28:16
well, there's a really cool document that I created that shows you how to do it
28:20
So that's where it's going, that's where we're going. Um And then what I'm also potentially thinking about doing is completely
28:30
changing the website cutting back significantly on the amount of ads because it's got a lot of complain about ads
28:37
But people, it was really kind of funny. People were complaining, oh
28:42
you should, here's what they said. You, you just, you need to give us the information for free and you just need to make your
28:49
money from advertisements and then in the next breath, they would say you've got too many ads on your website
28:58
Really. The, uh, the overwhelming sentiment from all of the replies I got was that
29:07
um, I need to work for free basically. Seriously. I mean, that's what they were saying
29:13
I need to work for free. You need to work for free. Like I want the content you give it to me for free
29:18
OK. That's not, that's, that's that's a bad deal because I know you don't work for free
29:23
So, or you didn't work for free in your job. Why you would expect me to do that
29:27
I is beyond mental comprehension. If you have an idea and you can justify it
29:31
please. For the love of God. Put it in the chat. Maybe I'm missing something
29:39
All right. 100 says use dirt fill as an additional sub base then report
29:43
No, wait, you wouldn't put dirt underneath the concrete that you're gonna pour
29:47
No, no, no, no, no. Um You need to go. So here's what ha what happened
29:52
This is a great example of what I'm talking about for premium content. You've got two choices
29:57
You can go to my website right now and you can sift through all of my past content
30:05
Um And there's a lot of it about concrete overlays and you can read all of the stuff on my website about foundation height
30:14
I know that doesn't make sense. You can read all of my content on the website for free right now
30:18
It's all for free. Uh You can do all of that re read everything about grading and drainage
30:23
Um, uh, pro probably about six hours worth of reading. You'd have to do
30:28
It would be my guess. I'm thinking how many columns I've written about this because you really need to kind of get it or
30:34
or you can do this. Here's something you can do. Um, that only takes 15 minutes and
30:44
it's the best money you're gonna spend on the project. So, in other words, you can, you can try to go find all the information
30:49
I just described on your own. All right, you, you can do that or I can call you on the phone and tell you exactly
30:57
what to do. It's up to you happy. I'm happy to call you on the phone
31:01
I'm so happy to call you on the phone. Just go there and set up a phone call
31:05
As simple as that or, or go to the website and read everything about concrete overlays
31:12
read everything about really important about foundation height. Make sure you find those columns
31:16
make sure you read all of the columns about exterior drainage. Make sure you understand what the code requirement is
31:24
uh, for the minimum, minimum code requirement for, uh, fall away from a house
31:30
Uh, the, the laundry list is about this law of everything you need to know. All right
31:34
So that's what you need to do. Now, if you want to know how to do it
31:38
just go to that link simple. Hello, William. Um All right. So
31:44
uh, any other questions about, uh, really kind surprise? I thought it's really kind of interesting
31:48
I thought we would have more people here, uh, tuning in. Um
31:53
I thought I had a pretty seductive tease yesterday. Uh, but it
31:57
it didn't, it must not have worked or people are just busy. It doesn't matter if you have any other questions about your home
32:03
Uh, please type it in, happy to, uh, happy to help you
32:07
Um, you know, it's very limited in what I can do here in explaining things
32:12
Uh, so just ask your question, ask away. That's why I'm doing the live stream primarily is to help you save time and money at
32:20
your home. And that's the big reason. Uh, I'm here. Um If you haven't checked in
32:25
it's probably a good idea. Um It's always nice to know who's here watching
32:31
And uh if you want to list a superpower that you might have, go ahead and do it
32:35
I got a very interesting email yesterday after the stream from one of the regulars that watches the stream
32:42
Well, he's, he's as regular as he can be and he was trying to explain why he can't do it
32:46
He's still a working guy. He's got a very important job. I'm not gonna tell you what it is
32:50
That's nice to know information. And he, but he just loves the stream
32:56
So he watches them frequently after the fact or realize that this stream once it's over
33:01
gets curated on, on my, on my channel, on youtube. So you can watch it time and time again if you want
33:07
you don't have to watch it live the um but he went into great detail about uh what his superpowers are pretty amazing
33:16
actually. And uh what he, um, ho how he likes to do home improvement projects
33:22
what his strengths are and um how he helps his neighbors. Very interesting
33:26
Very, it was really interesting to get that email. All right. Let's see
33:31
Uh So Loreen, so Loreen is, you're just like Cathy, you and Cathy would get along really
33:41
well. See, our schedules are off by three hours, 3.5 hours. So
33:47
um, uh, so, yeah, I know, I know. It was early, I know it's early in Wisconsin
33:54
I get it. I know that I get it. I get it. I know. So, Bob
33:58
um, so Bob, that's a great question. Um, what's a good way to stop
34:03
So, the, I'm not a, uh, uh, so I, I don't know how to pronounce the word
34:09
I don't know if I'm gonna, I, I may not even get close or Ortho isn't an Ortho
34:14
um, a bird expert, but here's what I know. All right. So I had a
34:21
I had trouble with a small woodpecker beck on my house. The, the
34:25
uh, the woodpeckers are just kind of looking for food. Uh, primarily I believe
34:33
Yeah, sometimes, um, I think some of the woodpeckers will peck on a gutter is a
34:39
uh, I think is a mating call, I think. Um, if you can do some research and find out from you
34:48
you really need to go to a, a bird expert website. All right, to find out why
34:52
why you need to, here's what, here's what you have to do. This is if you watched my other previous live streams
34:59
you know, that I'm, I'm really big into trying to get people to
35:03
a lot of people seem to have forgotten how to use critical thinking skills or they were never taught how to use them
35:10
So, so I always like to get people to think critically. All right
35:14
So the first question in your mind should be not, how do I stop the woodpecker from doing it
35:21
That's a, that's a, that's a good question. But in my, my thought would be the first question should be
35:29
Why is the woodpecker pecking on my siding? That would be my first question
35:37
I it's like, why is he pecking on a tree? Why isn't he pecking next door
35:44
What, what's the attraction of my sighting? So that's where I would start the journey to find out how to stop it
35:53
All right, because I don't know, I'll give you an example. Maybe
35:57
maybe you coated your siding. I know this sounds crazy. II I
36:02
this is total speculation. Maybe you coated it with some, some sealer that's made with a natural oil that tastes really good to the woodpecker
36:11
They're like, oh, you know, it's like putting hot sauce on a cheese coney like
36:15
oh, this is fantastic. All right. So, so maybe, maybe it's that um maybe there's a spot
36:25
Um Maybe there's a spot that's a little soft and there's carpenter ants in it
36:31
Um, maybe, maybe the woodpecker actually trying to make a nest. Um
36:38
yy, you know, so the list is a, is a, a mile long of why it might be doing it
36:42
So, once you understand why would peckers, what they're doing, like what their behavior is and you need to do that from an expert
36:49
And I'd go to at least three different websites and, and once again I'm gonna
36:53
I talk about this in tomorrow's newsletter. When you land on a website you've never been to before and you're looking for
37:02
information. Ok. Once again, let's, let's en let's engage the critical thinking skills
37:09
Do you, here's, I'll ask you a rhetorical question. Do you want to follow the advice of someone who is not qualified
37:19
Well, of course, the answer is simple. No, no. Like I, I don't, I, I don't wanna
37:23
I don't wanna follow the advice of some flipping idiot. How do you determine whether or not the
37:30
the person who's writing the content that you're looking at is an idiot? How do you do that
37:34
Do you know how to do that is there? You know what happens is if you go to some of the news sites
37:43
um sometimes at the bottom of the news site, at the bottom of the column is a little block that has the photograph of the
37:50
author and a very short two sentence biography so that you might find out like you know
37:56
I'm just gonna make up the name like Bob Smith has been a
38:00
a AAA, uh, international reporter for 30 years and has reported from 80 different countries
38:07
Hm, I, I would go, sounds, seems like that guy might be credible or it could say Bob Smith just graduated from journalism school
38:16
a month ago. Oh, ok. I might pass on this guy or there might not be anything there
38:24
So, if, if not you would go up to the About Us page. All right
38:28
So always go to the About Us page, click it and then find out what the hell is this
38:33
Who, who's behind this website? Who, who's creating all this content? So when you go to the bird websites
38:41
go find out who's behind the content. And if that person is an expert
38:47
nothing about this is hard, right? Loreen? Nothing, nothing about it is hard
38:52
Um So anyway, that's the answer to your question, Bob. Um You need to go find out why woodpeckers
39:02
peck on siding. That's all. And then, and then what here where I was getting to was that if you find out that
39:11
that um they're trying to nest or they're trying to do what I would put up a totem pole in my yard
39:16
I know this sounds crazy. I mean, I would put up a, a uh a special thing that has like a sign on it that
39:23
says Woodpeckers welcome here. And in other words, I would I would try to find out from these websites
39:30
What is the most desirable wood that woodpeckers love? I mean, just love
39:37
love, love it. All right. And so I would put that on a post in my yard and
39:43
and, and, and have a little sign. Woodpeckers. Well, serious. That sounds crazy
39:47
That's what I would do. Um, William, I have a newer washing machine that squirts when it gets to the wash icon
40:00
Another great teaching moment, William. I know you're gonna feel that this answer is snarky
40:07
All right. I know. And I'm trying to do my best to make it not snarky
40:12
All right. When you went to the manufacturer's website and when you read through the
40:21
FA Q and the troubleshooting page, what did it, what did it say
40:27
And if there was nothing there to answer your specific question when you called their 800 number
40:34
what did they tell you on the phone? That's where you should always
40:41
whenever you have a question about a product, whenever you have a malfunction with a product
40:47
it's not doing something, right? Um You need to go to the manufacturer
41:00
Simple as that. William Elaine says, woodpeckers nest in April and May
41:07
Yes, they, I guess they, that most birds who could be. Uh Thank you
41:12
Lorraine. Once they start, they can be hard to stop. We search. Yes
41:16
I, I know uh what I did on my house and it seemed to work really well
41:21
Is what happened is at the corner of my roof. Um Some of the wood started to get a little soft and I was pretty
41:29
much convinced that the woodpecker was um getting some insects. So I mixed up some Goya um
41:37
hot sauce, got the hottest sauce they had and put it in a little spray bottle and spray the wood
41:43
Stop it away. Um Siri Siri
41:54
she's a trollop. Don't trust Siri, she's a flipping tramp. All right
42:04
Don't even get me started on that. I promised myself today. I was not gonna go off the rails
42:09
All right, because we might have some new people here who um not used to that
42:17
It quits. It quits. Ok? So anyway, William, I like my advice still stands
42:24
You need to go to Maytag or to the, just look on the front panel who made your washing machine go to their website
42:31
Look at the FA Q page, look at the troubleshooting page. Open up your manual
42:35
You still have the manual, right? I mean, when you got the washing machine, you took that manual and you put it in a Ziploc
42:41
storage bag and you taped it to the side of the washing machine, right
42:45
That's surely that you did that right? Tell me you did that. Tell me, tell me you
42:49
you've got the manual and it's, and it's in a Ziploc bag. All right. I'm not trying to be snarky
42:53
Ok. I'm just, I'm just being me, I'm just trying to engage critical thinking skills and that's one I should maybe
43:01
maybe I should, should start a new website, Critical thinking skills.com. I don't know
43:05
Maybe starting to go off the rails. I can hear. I'm finally maybe getting Loreen to start laughing early in the morning
43:15
All right. Uh Once again, if you have any questions, uh, feel free to put them in the chat
43:21
We're getting some good questions. I am I getting some great questions here, Ronald
43:27
I have a 19 22.5 story house with the stone foundation. Yes. The M One Corner foundation is to turn into sand
43:33
I I assumed due to moisture. How do I repair Ronald? All of those questions are on my website
43:39
All the answers. I mean, all of those answers are on my website. Go to uh ask the builder.com and type into the search bar
43:48
Repair, mortar. Magic is gonna happen. Magic. Where do you see what happens
43:53
Go do it right now. If you don't mind, open up another tab
43:58
do that and then come back and report and tell everyone what you found. Please do me a favor
44:02
Thank you, Harvey. Experience of the older homes regarding painting 100 to your house
44:11
Most paint head lett. Yes. Uh Harvey, once again, great, great question
44:20
Great point. Uh Go to my website right now. Go to ask the builder.com and type and I'll talk a little bit about it
44:26
But I want you to type open up another tab while I'm talking and
44:30
and go to ask the builder.com and type into the browser. I type into the search engine
44:35
Lead paint. So all you gotta do, just type in lead paint, hit the search
44:40
look at the results and then come back and report to everyone what you found like
44:45
like you could say, I found a bunch of garbage or you could say
44:48
wow, I found some really great columns about lead paint and what to do
44:52
Uh Here's the deal. So lead paint uh really, really toxic. Um You never wanna sand it
45:01
Um It creates lead dust. It, it takes a very small amount of lead dust to uh cause you serious harm
45:08
Uh It, it's so, it's so toxic, it'll kill you. Um For men
45:12
it creates uh uh it causes impotence. That's not a good thing. Don't wanna be impotent
45:17
All right. Um Causes uh severe nerve damage. Uh It's, it's bad
45:21
Lead is really bad. You do not want to scrape it or if you do scrape it
45:26
I mean, if you're gonna scrape lead paint on an old home, uh If it was me
45:30
I would be putting down first. Uh I would tape to the foundation some inexpensive um you know
45:38
plastic two mil, maybe even four mil only has to be 5 6 ft wide
45:44
So I wanna collect all the scrapings. II, I don't, you don't want that to get into the soil
45:50
You know, because some people, some people garden. I know it sounds crazy
45:54
They have a, they might grow tomatoes next to the house. Well, the last thing you want is a bunch of flipping lead paint chips
46:00
in the soil where the lead could be potentially picked up and brought into the tomatoes or the other vegetables
46:06
All right. So you, if you're gonna scrape, you gotta collect that stuff and get rid of it
46:10
Um, other than that, that's really all you gotta do it. Just that do not sand it because that dust
46:17
that dust could drift inside. It could drift all over the place. It could pollute your ground
46:21
it could pollute the next door neighbor's house. Uh, do not sand lead paint
46:30
eight bit vinyl. How you doing Wayne? Uh You need to send some of that coffee up to Loreen and
46:43
Loreen says she can't read the manuals. I don't understand why. Oh
46:47
they put all the type in the smallest print. I got it. I got it. I understand
46:53
Uh William says, no, I didn't. You should. Ok. Whatever. I don't know what that means
46:57
Chris. Hello, Chris. Good morning. I have some hardboard siding on my house that is de shooting at the bottom edge
47:05
Uh What is an inexpensive and easy way to fix? Um, it's really hard for me to say because often in situations
47:14
like this, you're not giving me enough information. All right. So, I don't know how bad it is
47:18
I don't know. Um, the extent, I don't know if it's a half inch missing
47:24
There's a lot of things, I don't know. Uh, you can, um
47:28
go to this. Um, let me get a page for it. My website
47:41
I'll have it just a second here. I have a, have
47:50
a great video, uh, that you should watch. Uh, come on, come back here right here
47:57
So I've got, this is a pretty cool page at my website. Um
48:03
I was out in California four years ago and I recorded this video, uh
48:08
and I've got links um, on the page of the products you should buy and I would appreciate
48:14
I'm just checking to make sure it's there. I would appreciate. Yeah, I would appreciate it if you would use um those links to buy
48:22
the product as, you know, that's, that's like, you know, just like you tip a waiter or waitress at a restaurant
48:29
just click those links and buy the product. So here's Chris, this is what you need to do
48:34
but you have to modify it a little bit because I don't, you know
48:38
you haven't given me enough information, but I, I know this product is gonna work
48:44
So good luck on that if you have, uh any other questions about your home now is the time to type them in
48:52
Um, uh I have, I actually have a question for you. Um
48:57
because I wanna learn something. I, if you have, if I've seen your name here
49:04
uh, and, and you, you know, I see. Do you all have youtube accounts
49:10
Because I'm, I'm really kind of surprised. Like I'm stunned. Uh, there must be something I must not know
49:17
Like Elaine, like, I don't, I don't know why. I'm just stunned that you were able to get that youtube account name
49:21
I, I just, I am stunned by that. Um So does. So the bottom line is that if you have typed in something in
49:31
the chat and I've read it or acknowledged it, do you have a youtube account
49:35
I know or does that make sense? You could say yes, I have a youtube account or no
49:40
I don't have one because uh maybe, maybe, you know, the trouble is I'd have to open up an incognito browser and go to somebody
49:47
else's live stream and see if I can do this. Just a lot of work. I don't wanna do that
49:52
If you have a question about your home, go ahead and type it in the um chat
49:57
Happy to help you so far. The Saturday morning, uh live streams going pretty good
50:03
I've been on about 50 minutes getting a lot of great questions. Ok
50:12
Yes. Thank you, Charles. Yeah, that's exactly what I thought. Yeah. Um Thanks Fred
50:17
Um Fred. I mean, remarkable that you got your name. I mean
50:21
that's just crazy. That's crazy. Right. So, uh yeah, I just, yeah
50:26
I figured you have to have an account to be able to chat. All right, good, good for you. Um Thank you
50:33
Thank you for that. I think there's a little latency to this, uh, in the chat today
50:38
You're welcome, Chris. Those products are gonna work great. Watch the video
50:42
Um, I just want to warn you, uh, that hardboard siding has got a history of failure and you're gonna constantly
50:51
be fighting it. That's all you're gonna, you have to do everything possible to keep it uh
50:55
really well maintained, really well painted or it's just gonna continue to fall apart
51:01
William. Uh William says, I ha Harvey here. Let me get Harvey
51:07
I haven't found the search for your content. Oh, Harvey, come on
51:13
Uh When you do the search, I do have Google ads do show up at the top
51:19
But II, I, um let's see, Harvey was searching for lead paint
51:24
so I'll go do it. Let's see here. Going right here. I'm typing in the search bar
51:29
lead paint type in what I told you to do. I click the search button and yes
51:36
I see some ads and then if I scroll down below the ads
51:43
I see columns about lead paint. All right. So, um I'll
51:53
ta I'll just go to one and then I'll type in that link for you. All right. So I um but Harvey
51:59
you have to, you have to, um, you have to kind of scroll down below those ads
52:04
my friend. Um and magic happens. All right. So nothing about this is heart as Loreen would say
52:15
trying to get her to laugh this one. All right, William says you should do a stream on critical thinking one day
52:22
especially with everything going on these days. I am just an old country boy that I basically just enter my mom and dad divorced
52:28
Ok. Good, awesome. Good for you. Um I it's kind of an interesting concept
52:37
Um I, I it's funny, I, I mean, I don't know, I'd have to research how to
52:44
to teach other people to think critically. I, you know, I, I gave
52:49
I gave um apologize. I can't remember his name. Um I'm going up here to find it
52:56
Um Bob, I gave Bob an example uh how to start it with his woodpecker question
53:05
In other words, I learned from another ham radio operator about six years ago
53:10
He had a really interesting thing that I had never heard before and he said he said um the
53:19
power is in the question and it's such a very interesting comment
53:25
uh uh a statement when you think about it and I'll give you an example of it because I get it all the time and
53:32
you can actually go under my um youtube account under some of my videos
53:38
And II I answer people this way, I've typed that I've typed the powers in the question
53:43
Someone will ask me. Here's an example. Um Can
53:53
I use a toothbrush to clean my roof shingles to I'm sorry
54:00
can I use a toothbrush to clean my entire roof? So how would you answer that question
54:14
Well, my answer would be yes, I I sir, I would just go
54:19
Yes, you can do that right? I mean, you can use a toothbrush to clean a roof
54:26
What should they have asked? What? How should the question have been phrased
54:33
There's actually two or three different questions. Number one is, it could have been phrased is a toothbrush the best
54:42
tool to use to clean an entire roof. That's a better question
54:48
right? Yeah. What is the best way to clean a roof? See
54:57
because that's really what the person wants to know, but they just thought maybe I can use a toothbrush
55:04
you know, so they're not so that those are just some examples of how to start thinking critically in other words
55:09
think about the problem and then uh th really think about what is it that you really want to know
55:17
Um Exactly Elaine, that's, that was my point and eight bit vinyl
55:26
Yeah. Good luck. No, I mean, and I have, this is why you Elaine has
55:31
This might be Elaine's first live stream but Elaine just so, you know, uh in past live streams
55:37
um I have told people like Ape at Vinyl and Bob and we've got a lot of regulars here
55:44
Uh uh uh so many regulars and, and, and I would say I've got this really bad habit and I'm trying to break it
55:51
Uh, it happened this morning. I, I fell off the rails early this morning. I fell off the rails here
55:56
I was up here in the office like at 5, 10, 5, 10 in the morning for
56:00
for, for whatever reason. I don't know why I go check to see the comments that came in on the videos
56:07
I should, I, I need to stop doing that. I don't need to answer comments until one in the afternoon because because in the morning
56:18
just like Loreen, you know, she's saying she, she, she was kind of implying that she was a little grumpy
56:22
you know, a little early, a little grumpy. The drag hasn't worn off yet
56:27
That's the, that's the actual term, that's what we call it in the media industry
56:31
In other words, when you wake up, you've got drag, that's what it's called
56:35
And it's just like airplanes, airplanes have drag. And if you have too much drag
56:40
bad things happen with airplanes, bad things, right? So the um so it takes a while
56:46
like, like on the average human being, it takes about an hour to an hour and a half to get rid of the drag
56:52
All right, un unless you're using artificial stimulation, not, probably not a good idea to do that
56:59
You know, don't do, not be using cocaine in the morning. I, I mean, I never have, I'm just saying
57:03
don't, don't go there. Just, it'll just, the drag will naturally go away
57:07
So, I, I have a tendency to be a little snarky, uh
57:11
and just like, like you idiot flipping idiot and then it's scary to think that they could be breeding
57:19
I mean, all kinds of bad things. All right. Um, I know
57:24
I know I'm getting that fixed Lorraine. There's a, if you open up a new tab that
57:29
that's, that's the reason you're getting that error is because on the web page
57:33
I have old Google search code and, um, it, it, but trust me
57:40
my, my, it guys on it, we're actually gonna abandon the, um
57:44
Google Search. We're gonna get rid of it completely and I'm gonna use wordpress search engine
57:49
which is much better, much faster. There won't be any ads. So Harvey won't be upset anymore in the future
57:55
but I don't know that it's happening this weekend, maybe next weekend
57:59
I don't know. Um, my, it guy does it when he can
58:04
So, yes, I know every now and then I get there, but I haven't gotten that error myself in about a week
58:08
You typically, it can go away if you just close out of that tab
58:13
open up a new tab, go to Acid Builder and, and sometimes I've noticed it goes away when you get to the home page
58:19
If you go up and hit the Q and A, if you hit the Q and A button and then you'll see a little search
58:24
bar on the right. Try that search bar. Just, uh, it's a very odd, it's only because the code is so old
58:29
13 years old. I know. I know you're getting here. All right
58:37
Hello, Tom. Jimmy thinks it's a hit for Saturday. Uh, we are getting pretty
58:42
pretty many viewers like to see more. Uh, I, I would love to
58:46
we should be at 100 we should be at 200 viewers. Not 25 right now
58:50
We should be at 500 or 1000 in my opinion. I'm greedy. Lone has some coffee
58:57
I know. But you have a very truncated. So here, Loreen says I have some coffee but that's all she says
59:03
There's no smiley face, there's no nothing. So she's still got some drag going on
59:08
That's OK. That's ok. I get it. I mean, like if you and I were together this morning
59:12
Loreen, I would not be joking around. I would wait a while
59:20
I mean, I've, I've got such an advantage. I swear to God, I've been up for five hours
59:24
All right, I've been up for like five hours. So Thomas says
59:30
can this might be a great example of critical thinking skills? All right
59:34
or, or, or the powers in the question watch this. Thomas says
59:37
can you use liquid D PM into a mortar screen floor? Uh I don't know what liquid D PM is
59:46
I don't, I don't, I don't know the name of that product. I'm sorry. Um I would
59:51
I would, I would be inclined to say you can do whatever you want
59:56
All right, you can do whatever you want, but here's the critical thinking part of the
1:00:02
the, the lesson here. This is a great teaching moment. So, Thomas
1:00:06
uh and if you're watching this and you're not Thomas this, you need to
1:00:13
I need to hammer this into your head. I've said this 1000 times on the website
1:00:18
When you have a question about a product. I don't care what it is
1:00:25
it could be about. Sure it could be about this uh Liquid DP M
1:00:29
It could be, I don't know, emerald paint from Sharon Williams. It could be
1:00:36
it could be stain silver. Never ever, ever trust a person like even me
1:00:45
do not trust me or do not trust any other person on the internet with the answer or do not trust the person that's wearing
1:00:53
the orange apron in that big store. Never ever trust those people
1:01:01
Never, never trust a person like me. Even though I'm supposed to be an expert
1:01:09
why, who, who's the person so critically thinking? So, Thomas who's the person that's most knowledgeable
1:01:18
about how to use liquid D PM, the person
1:01:27
that makes it. So whenever you have a question about a product
1:01:33
always go to the manufacturer and, and, and even before you go there
1:01:37
I, I don't know about you but I, I would just read the instructions on the label
1:01:42
I would go to their website and read their technical specs. I would
1:01:47
that's what I would do. Do not trust, do never trust anybody who has nothing to do with
1:01:56
the product warranty. Does that make sense? Because here's what I could say, I could say. Oh Thomas
1:02:01
Hell yeah, man. Put that liquid D PM on the flipping mortar screened floor
1:02:05
man. Go for it. Put it, in fact, I've gotten the best results when I put five gallons per 100 square feet
1:02:15
And you go, oh wow. Really? And, and you know, I could have just uh for all
1:02:22
you know, I could have fallen off my motorcycle yesterday and hit my head. I'm not trying to yell at you
1:02:29
I'm not trying to make fun of you. I'm just trying to say, stop asking questions like that of me
1:02:34
Just go to the flipping manufacturer. All right, Elaine's laughing. Uh
1:02:50
Lorraine, it would be great to see the new site. I mean, I can just, I can actually hear you say that
1:02:55
Here's your, here's Lorraine. It'll be great to see the new site, but I am overall cheerful
1:03:09
I didn't think today's live stream would be this much fun. I'll be honest with you. I did not
1:03:13
I, I didn't know what to expect. I'll be honest. I'm really, and I'm, and I, I appreciate you being here
1:03:18
Uh, you know, if you're a regular and we got quite a few regulars here. Uh, really amazing
1:03:23
Um All right. So if you're here, uh, and you, uh, if you're new to the stream and you have a question about your home
1:03:30
um, ask it in the chat, um, go ahead and ask, and I
1:03:36
I wanna, once again, I wanna plug the newsletter. Uh, if you are not signed up for my
1:03:42
asked to build a newsletter, I swear, I swear to God, you have got to go sign up for it
1:03:47
Just go to the home page of Ask the voter.com right there on the center
1:03:52
Just put in your name, your email address, hit the button, then go check your email
1:03:58
Open up the email I send you click the confirmation link when you see tomorrow to
1:04:02
I'm telling you what I've been writing my newsletter for 25 years and I'm telling you
1:04:09
I have never written a newsletter like I did yesterday and you have got to read it
1:04:13
right? So Florian's laughing eight
1:04:23
bit vinyl. Speaking of paints from your experience. Uh Oh yeah, sure
1:04:26
Well, now once again, so you did the powers in the question? Are we talking interior exterior
1:04:31
I'm gonna pretty much assume you mean exterior. Uh Is that, is that a safe assumption
1:04:40
Loreen is laughing. Loreen give us a quick update on the uh fireplace
1:04:45
Is it they got it done? And just so you know, Adrid Vila
1:04:53
she spells her name this way. Ok. Yes. Exterior. Um, ah. Oh
1:05:03
yeah. Great. Uh, just a second. The fireplace is done. It is amazing
1:05:07
I knew it would be amazing. I knew it would be amazing. Uh
1:05:13
yeah. No, no, no. Yeah. No, worry about, no worry about the video
1:05:17
Um, uh. Oh, that's great. I am so happy that, um, that worked out for you and
1:05:24
and I assume, I mean, I assume you've already had a few fires. Have you had a few fires in it
1:05:28
Is it wonderful? Is, I mean, aside from the look? All right
1:05:35
Uh, all right. So best paint. Um, the best ex. Ok. Uh
1:05:43
we've talked about this in past live streams and I'll make this as quickly. I'll go as quickly as I can
1:05:48
I don't have anything to drink here this morning. That was a mistake. I forgot to bring something to drink
1:05:55
What? I'm just gonna ask you a rhetorical question. Have you ever thought about what is paint
1:06:01
What is it? Oh, first fire tonight? Oh, that's, that's what I wanna see the picture of
1:06:08
I wanna see the picture of a fire in the fireplace. What is pain
1:06:17
Yeah, that's like asking what is a woman. All right. I'm not going off the rails
1:06:23
I swear to God. I'm not, um, quick story. Um, when the first
1:06:31
my first business, I, I actually, um, if you got a minute
1:06:36
I'll find something that I think you'll really enjoy. Just give me a second. It's right down here about
1:06:47
I'm trying to find it. Just hang in there with me. It's right here somewhere
1:06:57
Oh, come on. Well, I thought I could find
1:07:06
it quickly. It's, it's right here but it's, it's in a stack of my mom
1:07:10
Saved everything. Uh, God bless my mother. She was a pack rat
1:07:15
She saved everything, all of my school papers, all of my report cards
1:07:19
all of my detention slips. And when I went into business, uh my one would this have been
1:07:28
oh, I don't know, it's sometime in college. It might have been my sophomore summer
1:07:32
I don't know. Um I, I started a painting. We started, I started painting houses in the summer time with a friend of mine
1:07:41
who was one year older than me. His name was John Penry and John was a great guy
1:07:46
And what I loved about John was John was, he was cut from the same cloth
1:07:52
I was uh no half ass work, do things the right way
1:07:58
Uh He was awesome. John was a great, great guy and we started this little painting company
1:08:04
And so John, when John got a degree in chemistry, he eventually got his phd and
1:08:14
then he went to work his, his entire career. He was with Sharon Williams up in uh Cleveland
1:08:20
wonderful wife named Myrna. Myrna was a registered pharmacist and one day while John
1:08:29
this is when John was still in college and I guess they must have covered it one day in one of his physical chemistry classes
1:08:34
I would guess. But um, John handed me a, a piece of paper with a formula on it
1:08:43
A chemical formula and he was just playing with me. All right
1:08:47
He, and because he knew I wasn't a chemist, he said, what do you know what this is? You know
1:08:50
it's a weird chemical formula. Like I just look at him and say, well
1:08:54
I can't really tell you what I said. You know, it was a four letter word
1:08:58
All right. You know, just joshing with him like, you know, just like when a woman says whatever
1:09:05
like whatever, basically kind of what I said to back that should get Lorraine and Elaine really laughing
1:09:13
All right. So Kathy will say that to me, whatever. All right, I know what it means
1:09:18
It doesn't mean whatever. And I go John, I, I don't know what that is
1:09:23
He goes simple. He goes, that's um that's the formula for a pretty much standard yellow carpenters glue
1:09:31
Oh, that's cool. You know, you know, because he knew I like carpentry and I thought
1:09:36
oh, that's interesting. He hands me another piece of paper. So what
1:09:40
what do you think this is? And I look at it and I go, well
1:09:45
this is almost identical formula to the glue. You just handed me
1:09:49
He goes correct. He goes, that's a very standard paint. All right
1:09:54
So he basically the glues, those, those carpenter glues are back in the old days
1:09:59
I'm, I'm going way back. I can't tell you what they are now, but back in the old day they were vinyl acetate
1:10:03
All right, it was a vinyl acetate adhesive. So, all paint is bottom line
1:10:08
You have to understand this. You remember critical thinking, critical thinking, this is what we're doing here
1:10:14
What's his name is? Right? Maybe I should do a course on this. Um Starting to think now about a critical thinking
1:10:23
class about stuff about your home. All right. I, I have to, I have to, that's a really rough idea when
1:10:32
you understand that all paint is, is glue, ba ba I'm just talking basic paint
1:10:39
It's just glue with color in it. I mean a light bulb should go off in your head like
1:10:47
wow. OK, glue. I mean, and you go, it makes sense. Like
1:10:52
cause when I paint something, like if I paint this woodwork here in, in the cave or I paint the door or I paint the
1:10:57
wall, it sticks on it, it sticks, it doesn't come off like this paint's been here for years
1:11:06
What do you know? All right. I mean, you go, I'll be damned
1:11:11
All right. So that's a crutch word. By the way, if you understand
1:11:20
that paint is glue and you wanna know what the best paint is
1:11:25
Your next question would be if we were thinking critically right. A bit
1:11:30
what would the next question be? What is the stickiest glue? All
1:11:41
right, I'll give you a clue. Have you ever a AAA? And
1:11:46
and I'll take it one step further. Not only is, what is the stickiest because it doesn't really come off
1:11:52
I mean, you, you've, in other words, what, what, what coding have I seen applied
1:11:57
That, that is sticky and, I mean, it just doesn't seem to come off
1:12:04
I mean, it must have some type of magic qualities. I'll give you a clue
1:12:12
Have you ever gone to a basketball game? Have you ever watched a basketball game on TV
1:12:20
What, what, what, what are the basketball, what, what do the basketball players play on
1:12:24
Do you know? Have you ever thought about it? It's hardwood. They play on a wood floor
1:12:32
Is the wood, is the wood floor painted? Does it have lines on it
1:12:38
Does it have symbols on it? Does this have, does it have bull crap writing on it
1:12:43
you know? Yes. All right. And, and, and all right. So, so
1:12:51
so what, what, what, what's on the floor? You're a thing? You're a thing
1:12:58
You have, you probably have Urethane in your home. You might have Urethane on your woodwork, you might have it on your floors
1:13:02
Bottom line, best exterior paint is the one that is, has a Urethane resin
1:13:08
And I have, as you might suspect I have that column on my website and I will give it to you to show you which
1:13:15
paint I would buy. I'm getting the link for you right now
1:13:24
And you're also gonna see a picture of the smallest house in old San Juan Puerto Rico
1:13:33
What do you think about that? The smallest house in old San Juan Puerto Rico? OK
1:13:42
There you go. All right. Pain is g I'm getting caught up
1:13:51
Um Lisa. Hello, Lisa. Uh, then the walls and incorporate wall and
1:13:59
uh, so Lisa, I must. Oh, here we go. Good morning. Ok, Lisa. I'm getting your question right now
1:14:04
Um, let me go. Let me get to a lax high and I don't trust the paint that blood
1:14:11
Yeah, I agree with that name. Um, and then he just so
1:14:16
you know, I'll just touch on that real quickly, Lisa, I'll get to you in just a second. Um
1:14:21
so Elaine, this whole movement over the past, I don't know, 1015 years about paints that don't need a primer
1:14:29
Once again they're there. Those are developed for the, uh, the lazy people out there
1:14:34
All right. The, the lazy. All right, because paint manufacturers have done all types of
1:14:39
they've spent lots of money on surveying people and, um, and, and
1:14:45
and people are just like, not all, not all people, many people are lazy
1:14:50
They still want to sell their product. They know that people don't want to put two coats of paint on
1:14:54
They don't want to double their paint budget. So they go, ok
1:14:59
we'll just sell them a flipping paint that doesn't need primer. All right. So, all they may do is just
1:15:04
uh, they'll, they'll, they'll make a paint that's very similar to some of the drywall primer sealers
1:15:10
That, that, that handle two things that deal with porosity and deal with
1:15:14
with making sure that they have the right sheen. Right. So, that's kind of a complex topic
1:15:19
I, I've got, I've got another web column on a website about that. But, um
1:15:25
right, I would, I would prefer to put a primer on a primer se you actually should put a primer sealer on
1:15:31
It's a, it's a special paint. All right, let's go to Lisa's question. Good morning. I'm rebuilding RV
1:15:36
Some say I should do the internal framing first and some say, do the walls
1:15:42
Um Then I'm trying to find the rest of your question. Uh Then the walls in a corporate wall
1:15:49
Uh Listen, if it was me, um I would rebuild an RV
1:15:57
I've never done one. All right. But I would rebuild it exactly the same way that I would build a home
1:16:05
All right. Let's think about that. So how, how, how would you build a home
1:16:10
Uh If you, you would start by putting the framing up, you know
1:16:14
the walls and the roof and then typically a good builder, what's the next thing he'll do
1:16:20
Uh He'll try to seriously get the roof on. I mean, you know, they'll, they'll put the
1:16:24
they'll frame the roof but they wanna get the roofing on as soon as possible to stop
1:16:29
to minimize water getting inside. And a really good builder, once he has the roof on all of
1:16:38
a sudden, he can start to get four or five different trades working on the house pretty much at the same time
1:16:46
All right. Um, he can start to get the plumbing in, uh
1:16:51
because in most cases it doesn't hurt. I mean, obviously think about this
1:16:57
you can put the pipes, both the drain pipes and the water supply pipes in the house that there there
1:17:02
if it rains on them, it's not gonna hurt them. Right? I mean, plumbing pipes are made to handle water
1:17:06
All right, I'm a licensed master plumber. Um, you can put, you can put the electrical wiring in and you know
1:17:14
you've got a roof on the house but water may blow in the open windows, the windows aren't in yet
1:17:19
So is it gonna hurt the, the wire if it gets wet? Uh Not really
1:17:23
not really. All right, not gonna hurt it. But so, so the
1:17:28
in other words, I'm trying to explain to you that the builder can have the trades working inside
1:17:33
but at the same time, a really good builder, he's outside, finishing the outside of the house
1:17:39
meaning getting the windows in so that no ring gets in. Uh putting the siding on the brick on whatever to basically make sure that
1:17:47
no water gets in the house, water is the biggest enemy. And then once the house is completely protected
1:17:56
from the weather, um, and then all the mechanics are in, you can
1:18:01
then what does the builder do? You know? He'll start to add the finishing
1:18:05
you know, he'll put the drywall or plaster in. I mean, well, I'm sorry
1:18:09
once it's protected from the weather, this is really important. Once it's protected from the weather
1:18:14
he'll insulate the walls. You don't want to get water in the insulation
1:18:19
bad, bad, bad, bad. So, and once the installations in then you can start to finish the inside
1:18:27
That's how I would do. That's how I would rebuild an RV. Build it just like a house
1:18:35
All right. Any other, uh any other questions? Um, been on for an hour and 20 minutes
1:18:40
Um, I've got to go to a secret, um, ham radio lunch today
1:18:46
Can't tell you anything more about it. Sorry, sorry to teach you
1:18:51
Um Oh, real quickly. Check this out if you're new, check out my tomato plant
1:19:00
So let me, let, let's see how high it is. It's
1:19:09
it's almost, um, it's just under eight inches tall. I'm telling you a week ago it was six inches tall
1:19:18
The stem, the stem here is a quarter inch thick. It's just two days
1:19:23
over a month old. I, I planted the seed on March 1st I got four
1:19:28
I got four tomato plants. But man, they are rocking, I mean rocking
1:19:33
So, um, it's gonna be a good year for tomatoes, I hope. Um
1:19:40
Oh, all right, Elaine. I skipped your question. Let's see. I'll go find it
1:19:48
Yes. Thank you for, thank you for reminding me. Uh I am trying to find
1:19:56
oh, here we go. Finally I found it. Yeah, that's a, that's a great tip
1:20:00
By the way, if you, sometimes I get rolling and the questions that's that the chat just streams up and I
1:20:08
I miss it and I don't go back up. So if you have asked a question and I've not answered it
1:20:12
remind me, Lane says Mr Tim, our kitchen faucet has started making a high pitch noise
1:20:20
Yeah. And then a thumping. But no uh yeah, the uh it's simple
1:20:25
Uh Elaine, that's very simple. Um The um you have a uh you have
1:20:34
a, you have a uh high pitch vibration, you have a piece of sediment in the cartridge
1:20:41
right? That's uh it could be a very, very, very tiny piece of sand and that's what will cause the um the thumping
1:20:48
uh the high pitched sound. Um it's just like, um uh you know
1:20:54
when you um you know, like when you whistle, you know, so you're
1:20:58
there's a tiny, so when you whistle, you're blowing air past a very small orifice and think about what's happening in that and
1:21:08
and you get a vibration going. That's what's you, you're vibrating and that's what's causing the
1:21:12
the sound to happen. Same thing happens with water. The water takes the place of the air that makes a whistle work
1:21:19
So it, all you gotta do is change out. The cartridge problem is gonna go away right away
1:21:27
Any, uh, other questions, uh, happy to answer them before I get the heck out of here
1:21:32
Uh, I'll, um, I'm gonna do a poll. We're gonna do a quick poll
1:21:37
Um Let me, uh, I, you know the powers in the question
1:21:42
right? So I have to ask the right question. I'm
1:22:25
I'm gonna have a little fun with this. All right. All right
1:22:32
I'm trying. Um, just
1:22:42
a second here. I don't know why. There
1:22:53
you go. There you go. All right. So go ahead and answer the poll
1:23:00
I'm sorry, I just had a little fun. So it's not really scientific cause I'm not asking the question the right way
1:23:05
All right. All right. I already know how one person is gonna answer it
1:23:13
I'm not naming any names. Um Yes, Celine. Yeah. Easy. Good for you
1:23:22
Let and report back to me what happens. I already know it's gonna work. A but one last question
1:23:30
uh I still use round up for weeds. Do stop doing that
1:23:35
Stop, stop right now and you should know better of all the people come on
1:23:41
right? Who have you not seen the commercials on TV? From all those lawyers
1:23:48
Stop, stop using chemicals on your lawn. Um, first
1:24:00
of all, if you read the label, you cannot even pronounce the words
1:24:05
Right. That's right there. That's one, that's number one, I'd know where you live and I'm 99% convinced that
1:24:14
you've got a well, stop using chemicals. Stop it. Yeah
1:24:27
exactly. Stop it. Weeds are green. And I was just looking at actually what
1:24:36
I'm looking out the window at, at my, at the hill going up to my leach field and over the past few years it's been
1:24:43
taken over by this moss and I was outside yesterday getting something out of my truck and I thought
1:24:47
man, the moss, it looks so healthy this year and it's almost completely choked out all the grass
1:24:56
It's like, you know, and it hit me yesterday. Like, what can I do to make this moss grow better and faster
1:25:04
I won't have to cut the grass anymore and, and it's nice and green. All right
1:25:08
So my, my neighbor, great people, my neighbors, great people. But the
1:25:15
the wife is one of those people that everything's gotta look perfect oc
1:25:19
you know, O CD. Is that what it's called? Yeah. Obsessive compulsive story
1:25:23
All right. So, crutch word, uh, they have somebody come out and spray the lawn
1:25:31
There's not a weed in their lawn. They, they, they subscribed a year ago to this new company mosquito squad to stop mosquitoes and ticks
1:25:39
and and, um, somehow we got in the conversation one day and I was really very diplomatic how I said this and I just said
1:25:47
I don't even have it came up. But I just said, I don't, I don't wanna use any chemicals in my yard because I
1:25:54
I, you know, remember I'm a geologist. All right. I go because those chemicals could leach down into the water table
1:26:02
That's all I said. So
1:26:12
I don't know why, uh, Loreen, you didn't get the, uh, I don't know where it shows up
1:26:17
All I see is at the top of my screen. So I think I might have a different dashboard than you
1:26:21
You see. I just have it on the top of mine. I just have a right now
1:26:26
just a blue bar that's showing me the, um, that the, the polls still happening and
1:26:32
and it just, um, I just kind of see at least the
1:26:37
yes, I just see the, uh, um, oh, if I click it very interesting
1:26:43
So, uh, that's, it's very interesting. Everybody says, yeah, either either. No one's saying no
1:26:50
everybody wants it but 75% say yes. And, uh, that one choice was not too early
1:26:56
I lay us in bed. So that iii I put that in there for
1:27:00
for somebody. So anyway, uh, I don't, uh, I don't know what
1:27:07
ok, now you got it good. OK. Oh my gosh. So Elaine
1:27:16
Elaine, you're still here. Um, are you Enjo, are you enjoying us
1:27:21
And actually, for you, it must be a treat because I don't know that you've ever seen me live like this before
1:27:26
So, um, Elaine and I, um, we have this relationship, uh, it's very
1:27:32
uh, an, an email relationship. Never met her. I would love to meet Elaine
1:27:37
I would love to meet you and, and, um, I just have this great friendship that we
1:27:43
we've built, you know, over the past year or two. And Elaine sends me really great responses to newsletters and
1:27:51
uh, it's always a treat to, to read an email that Elaine gets it sends to me
1:27:55
So, uh, anyway, um, s absolutely, this am, has been one of my best mornings ever
1:28:01
That's great. That's great. Um, all right. Uh, that was for me
1:28:08
You're right. You're right. All right. So, I'm so same thing. I have this new relationship with Lorene
1:28:15
Um, and, um, uh, you know, Kathy teases me all the time about this just so
1:28:20
you know, I need, you need to understand this that I tell Kathy about you
1:28:24
All right. So she just goes, go to it that she'll just tease me and
1:28:29
you know, after you've been married 48 years, you know, so you just say this guy, she'll just say, go
1:28:32
go, go, you know, go, you know, she's playing the flipping Scarcity card
1:28:40
you know, like, oh, my gosh. Uh, ah, great. All right. So
1:28:48
um, so Elaine said I never sue any, uh, with that. Oh
1:28:52
so putting, uh, yeah, I just, I don't even, the weeds are green
1:28:59
I'm happy with the weeds. I don't care. No chemicals do not stop using chemicals
1:29:07
I, I can tell you that as a plumber when, when I was in my twenties and thirties I actually thought I would be dead
1:29:13
by now. Uh, because if you've ever looked at the label of a can of PV C primer or PV C glue and
1:29:24
and when you're working with it, you cannot help but get it on your hands. I mean, it
1:29:28
it's horrible and what I did not know back then and, uh
1:29:32
a bit vinyl knows because I pretty sure this is your profession
1:29:36
Uh, I, I did not know way back then. I did not know that our skin was absorbent
1:29:42
I didn't know that I only found that out maybe in the last 15 years when
1:29:47
um, you know, I started to see those drugs that, you know
1:29:52
I guess like the, to stop smoking, you just put this thing on your arm and
1:29:57
and the drug is slowly absorbed through your skin. I do not just like
1:30:01
you don't know stuff but I mean, I'm not a flipping doctor, you know, so I cannot believe I don't have cancer
1:30:08
I'll just be honest with you. I just can't believe it is much flipping PB D primer and glue in my skin
1:30:13
Oh, my gosh. Stop using chemicals. Stop it. How
1:30:25
he listens with me sometimes. Lorn you, you need, you tell your husband that
1:30:36
he needs to listen to you all of the time. Not sometimes all of the time
1:30:44
This, he should already know this. Oh, yeah
1:30:54
Elaine. Well, here, here's here. Get this Elaine. So you've not been on other live streams
1:30:59
I'm trying to pull this together. I cannot pull it together until after the whole illness thing is over
1:31:06
That's what I call it the illness. I have to call it the illness because I don't wanna get banned. And I'm not gonna wear
1:31:12
I, I'm not wearing a face diaper, not doing it. They don't work
1:31:16
They're not all right. Here's a, I'm, I'm not a professional but I'm smart enough to know this
1:31:25
I early on in the illness. I did some research. I wanted to know. How big is this flipping thing
1:31:29
How big is that thing? You know, this thing is this mysterious thing that's in the air
1:31:36
Well, this mysterious thing that's in the air evidently is you can take 900 of them
1:31:43
900 of them side by side and put them on the width of a human hair
1:31:53
Have you ever see this shirt here? Like, have you, you know, just a regular fabric
1:31:56
right? How many people have you seen wearing fabric, face diapers? Have you ever taken a shirt and held it up to a bright light
1:32:02
or, or, or the sun. What do you see? You see all these little holes
1:32:08
Right. I mean, holes that you could stick a, like a straight pin through, right
1:32:12
I mean, seriously you could stick it straight through a straight pin through that hole or like the tip of a straight pin
1:32:20
How, how, how, how wide is the tip of a straight pin compared to your hair
1:32:24
Oh, it's a little bit bigger. So, this thing, or there's paper things that there
1:32:33
it's like asking a chain link fence to stop a BB. So anyway
1:32:42
I'm not anyway, here's where I was going with that. Sorry, I went off the rails. I promised myself I would not do that today
1:32:48
All right, I'm gonna try as soon as we can pull this off
1:32:53
I'm gonna have a parachute drop. All right. So what does that mean? A parachute drop is
1:32:58
Think about it? Parachute drop. Think what my paratroopers dropping in on, you know
1:33:05
one day I'm going, I'm gonna kind of poll everybody the regulars and I'm gonna say
1:33:10
ok, look, why don't we all agree to meet up at this place
1:33:18
And it could be any, it could be a national park. It, it could be anywhere. It could be anywhere but it's good
1:33:23
It's gotta have some nice amenities. It's gotta have a nice swimming pool, it's gotta have a nice bar
1:33:29
Uh, it's gotta have maybe a golf course, whatever. Uh And so I would then say
1:33:36
ok, I am going to be at this place for these three days or four days
1:33:43
whatever, I'm gonna be there. If you wanna come, then come. If you don't wanna come
1:33:49
you don't have to come. I don't care. And then for that two or three days or how
1:33:55
if you can come a day, it doesn't matter because you might, a person might live actually very close and just drive there for a
1:34:00
day. Um We, everything is informal. Everything is unscheduled. In other words
1:34:05
if you, we all exchange phone numbers once we get there or just before we text each other
1:34:10
you wanna have breakfast with me? Fine. We'll have breakfast out on the, on the patio
1:34:14
Uh You wanna go to lunch? Well, we'll have lunch together. You wanna swim, go swimming
1:34:18
you wanna go play golf with will and I let's go play golf, you know, cause will comes will is a big golfer
1:34:23
So I'm just saying so that's a parachute drop. It's basically like a, a miniature vacation
1:34:28
So we could do an ask the builder parachute drop. I'm gonna do it, but I'm not gonna do it until the whole bull crap
1:34:36
over. All right. All right. Let me get caught up here. Uh
1:34:48
How he listens to your life having the captive in the car uh a bit
1:34:55
It's as big as people are getting scared. Uh Coming from the nurse with real numbers as proof
1:35:01
Um Yeah, I, I uh I, I know it's r real. Don't get me wrong
1:35:08
I had it. I mean, you, you do real. I don't know if you realize it. You realize uh I got the illness I survived
1:35:14
Uh My doctor didn't do anything. My doctor flipping loser loser. See that l loser
1:35:23
My wife saved my life. All right. So Corin Zinc. All right
1:35:28
It's all on my website. Just, just go, go, go to ask the daughter.com and type that word in
1:35:33
It's what five letters begins with ac type it in the search engine
1:35:42
All I want to say is that the response, much of the response is not based on science
1:35:47
That's all not based on science. It's all been back control. Not
1:35:51
has nothing to do with health. Here's the
1:36:00
other thing that, that, that you probably could set some light on that not really being reported
1:36:06
Is it true? This is rhetor, this is not really a rhetorical question. Is it true that the hospitals are all getting extra money
1:36:14
If they say that the person comes in, has the illness? Is it true
1:36:19
Uh that, that they get extra money? If, if they put a person with the illness on a ventilator
1:36:23
they get extra money. Is it true that they get even more money if the person dies of the illness while in the hospital
1:36:32
If so that's a conflict of interest. But what do I know I used to eat lunch sitting on overturned drywall buckets for 20 plus
1:36:39
years. All
1:36:49
right. Um, there's all kinds of studies about, once again, just use critical thinking skills
1:36:56
All right, you have to use critical thinking skills about the whole face diapers
1:37:00
All right. So we, we don't need to get into a discussion with it because if we're not using the same
1:37:04
if we don't agree on the same data set about the topic
1:37:09
it's impossible to have a discussion. You can't do it. I've been an expert witness for 25 years
1:37:17
So I know all about data sets and, and that's why when you're sworn in at a deposition
1:37:23
you say, I swear to tell the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth
1:37:31
I, I had to swear that on the witness stand in courtrooms. All right. So we have a situation that's happened here in the
1:37:38
well, it's happened for a long time but it really exploded in the last two years where you and I are not getting the whole
1:37:46
truth. So how, so is it any wonder that you get into arguments with people about all this stuff
1:38:00
All right. Um, so anyway, not gonna talk more about it. I'm just telling you that I'm gonna have a flipping parachute drop and Kathy
1:38:07
will be happy about it. She loves it when I go, get out of here. She loves it
1:38:12
It's like a vacation for her. I've been, I've been at home, working at home for the last 28 years
1:38:21
Um, yeah, not only that but there's a ton of people who are asymptomatic
1:38:27
Are you kidding me? Asymptomatic. And now I've got the, I've got the best immunity that Mother nature makes here
1:38:37
Y'all appreciate this. I'll just say this. I'm the same with this. I've
1:38:41
I've put this out there. Do you know anything about yellow fever
1:38:47
Maybe, maybe not. Maybe you were taught a little bit about it in school. All right. So Crutcher back in early 19 hundreds when the
1:38:56
US ST helped steal, did you know that the US? If you're upset about Russia and what's going on with Russia
1:39:04
Just stop right now. If you're upset with Russia, you, you need to be the first person in line to give Hawaii back to
1:39:13
to the, to the Hawaiians. I mean, did you, you do realize that we stole Hawaii
1:39:17
right? I mean, you realize that, right. Come on, you, you know that, come on
1:39:21
I mean, you, you realize Hawaii had a queen, Queen Lily UK KK Kale or whatever
1:39:29
we stole it from her. Oh, and Pan Panama. All right, Panama
1:39:37
you do realize that Panama was not a country in 1900. You know what Panama was where Panama is
1:39:43
That was Colombia. So Colombia extended up, you know, to the isthmus
1:39:48
All right. But the people that lived on the isthmus, they were neglected
1:39:52
they, they Colombia hated them, they didn't take care of them. They got pissed off
1:39:56
So they came to America and said, listen, we want to get the hell away from these people
1:40:01
Can you help us? Just so happened. Theodore Roosevelt's President, what do you need
1:40:08
We need you to help us get away. All right, tell you what
1:40:11
we'll make you a deal. We will help you. We will help you get away and
1:40:16
and, and, but, but, but here's what we get, you need to give us some of your
1:40:20
your land. All right. And, and, and we just happen to want this narrow strip of land
1:40:24
maybe a couple, 23 miles wide and, and we're gonna build this c and it's gonna be ours
1:40:28
We're gonna, it's our, they go do it whatever you want. We don't care, do whatever you want
1:40:32
Go ahead, dig in the freaking ground. We don't care. I'm telling you the truth
1:40:37
All right. It's so, so anyway, um I don't even know where I was going with all this
1:40:45
I completely lost my train of thought. Now, I, I don't know why I started on that
1:40:49
So, um I don't know where I was going. So I, now I'm
1:40:54
I'm lost. It doesn't matter. All right. So maybe somebody will tell me where I was going
1:41:02
Oh, here we go. Um It was something with eight bit vinyl
1:41:07
What was I talking about? Uh Anyway, uh yeah. Yellow fever, yellow fever
1:41:11
Thank you. All right. So you'll, you'll love this yellow fever So
1:41:16
back when we were building the Panama c, yellow fever, we did not know what caused yellow
1:41:24
They did not know what caused it. But let me tell you yellow fever. That is a bad ass flipping ailment
1:41:31
ailment you contract yellow fever. It's like playing Russian roulette. 5050 chance
1:41:38
50% mortality rate, 50%. That would get my attention. 50%. All right
1:41:48
They, they had no cure for it. They just kind of were trying to treat symptoms
1:41:56
the preventative care. They, they didn't even know what caused it. They did not realize it was
1:42:01
it was, it was, uh, transmitted by mosquitoes. They eventually figured it out but everybody was getting bit by mosquitoes down there
1:42:08
Are you kidding me? Flipping Panama mosquito city? Who, how, how was it that
1:42:17
the doctors and the nurses, we're treating the yellow fever patients? Simple
1:42:29
They got it. They got yellow fever but they survived. So, when you get a disease and you survive
1:42:37
I mean, you already know this. You have the best flipping immunity that you can get. Barna
1:42:43
And now, now, what are they up to the 4th and 5th jab
1:42:47
Oh, experimental biological agent. Are you kidding me? All right. All right
1:42:55
All right enough, enough enough. And I'm gonna get out of here before I get in deep trouble
1:42:59
Get deep trouble. All right. So, um, history. Yeah. History, neat subject
1:43:04
Um, let me go back to Kathy. Kathy is not coming to the parachute drop
1:43:12
No flipping way. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no
1:43:18
she's not coming. Here's why, first of all, she hates to travel
1:43:23
hates everything about the experience hates everything. Number two, she re, she will only get on an airplane if
1:43:34
uh, she is heavily sedated. Uh, and only if she has to
1:43:38
I mean, like, if someone dies in a family hates airplanes. Right
1:43:43
And remember what I just said, she constantly is asking me, hey
1:43:47
don't you need to go out west? Don't you need to go somewhere with your buddies? In other words
1:43:52
she wants me out of the flipping house so she can have it for herself so that she can be on vacation
1:43:59
All right, she just asked me one question. She just says two things. Just give me a week's notice and please don't leave during the
1:44:06
winter time because I don't want to have to deal with the snow myself. All right. So Kathy's not coming to the pair
1:44:10
She drunk. Sorry. I know. I
1:44:20
I yell at the scream. Oh, sorry. All right. I'm gonna get out of here
1:44:23
I swear. Uh, face, they are, they are face diapers. All right
1:44:33
Yes. All right. Uh, yeah, exactly. Exactly. All right. Right. Yeah. But the thing
1:44:42
is what, um, just so, you know, the jab right now, um
1:44:47
is not a true, uh, the, the letter V, it's not, it's not that if you go look up the de
1:44:52
if you have to go, like, here you have to have something like this. You have to have a
1:44:57
uh, one of these old ones. All right, let's see if they got the right definition in here
1:45:06
I'm not a doctor. All right. I'm not even a nurse. Here
1:45:16
we go. They got the right definition. This is for the word that you see a lot of out there
1:45:22
it begins with a V. All right, here's the definition. Listen to me
1:45:27
listen to this. Now, if you go online and try to look this up
1:45:33
I'll bet you, you come back with a different definition because you realize online they're changing the definitions
1:45:40
That's why I use this. That's why I have, oh, you can't see it
1:45:46
It's hidden, it's hidden by these books. But right here, I've got a really big old dictionary
1:45:52
Here's the definition of the V word. Listen to me. Listen carefully a preparation
1:46:02
of a weakened or killed pathogen such as a bacterium or virus used
1:46:12
to the V word as a verb. You want me to read that again
1:46:20
You gotta understand this. A preparation of a weakened or killed pathogen such as
1:46:29
a bacterium or virus. You do realize that the experimental biological
1:46:39
agent that millions are getting jabbed with has none of that in it
1:46:47
It has none of the dead or weakened pathogen in it. But yet they're
1:46:56
calling it the V word. You are being played. You and millions of other and I'm not trying to scare you
1:47:05
I'm just trying to give you the flipping truth. You are being played
1:47:09
You have been played the last two years and I will then share this and then I'm out of here to stop the whole time
1:47:17
So if you, and if you want to see how bad you've been played, go here
1:47:26
go watch that video and then get the book by the guy's book
1:47:30
The book is so much better than the video. All right. All right
1:47:37
OK. Lorraine gotta go, I gotta go. Um I'm gonna go too. Uh Jason
1:47:41
Great. Um All right. Um We're gonna do more Saturday morning, uh live streams
1:47:48
I can see it right now. Um And we're gonna try to get the lazy people out of bed
1:47:57
They can just go to bed earlier the night before. Right? I'm ranting
1:48:05
Goodbye. I know. Yeah, George. Right. I knew I would scare some people off. That's OK
1:48:09
It's ok. That's what I do. I'm ranting, I'm allowed to do it. It's my live stream and see if
1:48:15
if you just, you just, you know, I, I respect your right to disagree but remember what I said about a half an hour ago
1:48:21
it's impossible to have a good, uh an honest discussion. If, if every
1:48:26
if, if you're not using the same data set and you have to have all the facts. We
1:48:30
you and me, all of us, we're not getting all the facts. That's so
1:48:34
so how can we actually have a really good discussion about any of it? Ok
1:48:41
Um, ranting, I guess, I guess that would be a rant. All right
1:48:47
Thanks for being here. I had a great time. Um um, but I understand that you
1:48:53
you have to under just, you know, the last point about this stop being played
1:48:59
I mean, go, go, go, look up, go, go look up the, the definition yourself
1:49:04
Go, go, go, go get an old dictionary and look it up and then
1:49:07
and then just do some critical thinking. Come on George. Do some critical thinking. Don't
1:49:13
don't let him. And it'd be like saying, oh, wow. Uh, today
1:49:20
uh a hot air balloon landed in my yard. This is a really bad ogy. A hot air balloon landed on our yard
1:49:25
No, no, it didn't. A hot air balloon did not land in the yard. A bird landed in New York
1:49:30
All right. I know something floated down. Not a hot air balloon
1:49:36
It was a bird. All right. So two different things. So the experimental biological agent is one thing and something
1:49:45
that's made. That's a true, this word is something else. They're not
1:49:50
they're not the same. A hot air balloon is not a bird, right? So simple as that
1:49:55
All right, Fred, you're still here. Great to see you too. I'm still kicking
1:50:00
buddy. Oh, Fred. Fred, wait a minute, check this out. I got this unsolicited
1:50:09
letter in the mail yesterday from a, a company in Washington about the 90 acres
1:50:19
It says, uh the name of the company would like to purchase your land in New Hampton
1:50:24
New Hampshire. Uh blah, blah, blah is referenced in the enclosed purchase of offer agreement
1:50:31
which is here. All right, that's it. And so it says right here
1:50:36
the, the purchase price of 100 and $16,864.96. , they
1:50:45
they were all gracious. Say they're gonna pay all expenses. I, you're gonna love this early this morning
1:50:53
I write back the guy a letter, a very traditional handwrit letter
1:50:56
very short one page. I just say dear, his name was Andrew. I go dear
1:51:00
I go dear Andrew. Thanks so very much for your uh for your date letter dated blah
1:51:06
blah, blah reference number, blah, blah, blah because it's got a reference number up here, you know
1:51:10
So um so you could look it up and I go, I just want
1:51:15
I just wanted to inform you that there was a typographical error II I in it and
1:51:20
and you need to have someone in your office check these things before they go out
1:51:23
I go, it was missing a zero. He's gonna throw it away
1:51:32
Can you believe that? Can you? I mean, it's just crazy. Oh my God
1:51:40
I know I paid too much for the land. I paid way too much. Uh, oh, well
1:51:45
but it's worth a lot more. Now, I can tell you that he had a guy from, uh, New Orleans
1:51:50
uh, offer me 800 for it. No, not taking it. I'm not
1:51:55
I'm not, uh, I'm not, uh, I'm not selling the land because I, I know what's happening
1:51:59
I know what's in play, the land is gonna start going up in value like crazy
1:52:04
Just like you and I talked about that day. You and I walked it so just taking a while
1:52:08
but that's ok. It's gonna get all it's doing is going up in value every day, every day
1:52:14
Oh, on the road. Get this fridge real quickly. So I got
1:52:18
uh, if you're still doing real estate up here, I, I don't know, I haven't talked to you in such a long time
1:52:22
Um, I called up Hilts, you know, Jeremy Hiltz in New Hampton
1:52:27
that big contractor call him up two years ago. This was two years ago
1:52:33
You know what the price to put a road in? Like I was on my lamp
1:52:38
Do you have any idea? Two years ago? Just imagine all the trees are still there
1:52:44
They gotta go in and, you know, take all the trees down, do everything. $400 a foot
1:52:54
$400afoot.Thatwastwoyearsagoandimaginewhatitisnowwithfuelpricesandwhatever.I
1:53:07
mean, that road, the road on my land is worth a minimum. It would cost somebody a half a million dollars to put in well
1:53:14
over 1000 ft long. You know how long that road is? All right. Anyway
1:53:18
gotta go. Great to see you, Fred. Great to, great to know that you were here
1:53:21
That's amazing. Um, so, uh, we'll be doing another live stream probably next Saturday
1:53:28
so I'll be here. Hope you will too. Um, and, uh, keep in touch
1:53:35
So thanks so much for being here today. Um We'll do another one next Saturday
1:53:40
We'll see if we can get uh George upset and, uh I promised myself I wouldn't go off the rails
1:53:47
but I'm sorry, I did too bad. Too bad. People need to wake up. That's all everyone needs to wake up
1:53:52
Some are still sleeping, need to wake up, time to wake up. Don't call things that what they're not
1:53:57
don't call a bird, a hot air balloon. All right. Don't call a bird
1:54:02
a hot air balloon. Don't call the experimental biological agent. The this word don't call it that because it's not that that's not what it
1:54:11
is. Go look up, what the, this is, go look it up. Uh I am gonna
1:54:18
I'm probably gonna, yeah, I'm gonna still do stuff during the week. Uh I'm gonna
1:54:22
but I'm gonna start weaning it off. Uh, a, a bit because, um
1:54:26
the weather is getting nicer and I, and if you read tomorrow's newsletter
1:54:32
you'll see why I need to spend a little bit more time writing and doing some other stuff
1:54:37
Tomorrow's new, what, what this whole live stream was originally about at the beginning. Um
1:54:41
I've got some catch up work to do and, um, uh, so
1:54:47
so I will do one next Saturday and, um, but there will be some during the week
1:54:52
but eventually when we get to May 1st, there's not gonna be one every day. No, because Fred will tell you when the weather's nice
1:54:58
here. Um, I'm outside. All right, because people who live up here
1:55:04
they really, uh, they, I, I moved here just, you know, I moved to New Hampshire for one reason only primarily was to get away
1:55:12
from the horrible weather in Cincinnati. And, um, so once it warms up
1:55:18
dude, I am outside, I'm not like you, you, you have to
1:55:22
it takes a team of wild horses to keep me indoors. All right. Gotta go. Uh
1:55:26
Elaine. Um, Loreen's gone, I think eight bit Fred some George if you're still here and not happy
1:55:36
Uh, so many people. Thanks so much for being here today. Appreciate it. Uh, if you've not signed up for my newsletter
1:55:41
I'm just gonna end with this. If you have not gone to the website, go to ask the builder.com sign up for the newsletter right
1:55:47
there on the home page. Do it. Uh, tomorrow is gonna be an epic newsletter
1:55:53
I guarantee you and, and what I'll probably do next Sunday is I probably am gonna publish some of the hate mail that I get
1:56:00
gonna get some hate mail. Speaking of hate mail, where do you go to the weirdest times and see my letter to the editor that
1:56:05
it was in on Thursday. I can't wait to get that hate mail
1:56:10
It probably start coming in today. All right. So go to the weirdest times and, and look at my letter to the editor
1:56:14
the March 31st edition. All right, gotta go sign up for the Ask The Builder newsletter
1:56:18
It's free. And, um, what do you see what you get tomorrow? All right
1:56:24
Uh All right. Gotta go. I'm Tim Carter. It's been asked the Builder. Thanks so much for doing it
1:56:28
Fun live stream today. Almost two hours again. Can't believe it. Can't believe we did a two hour live stream on a Saturday morning
1:56:33
