Hi, how you're doing? You know, I should probably check the mirror before I go live. My hair is kind of a mess today. Oh, well, who cares, right? Right? Who cares? Thanks for being here. I'm Tim Carter. This is thebuilder.com and the live stream. It is, it's hard to believe. I believe the month it's gone by that fast. It's pretty amazing

If you have a question about the live stream, about anything about your home, go ahead and put it in the chat
0:38
You know what to do. You have to have a YouTube account to do that
0:42
You don't have to have a video uploaded to have a YouTube account
0:47
It's so simple. There appears to be a little bit of latency in the video screen I'm seeing
0:52
I hope there's no latency while you're watching. Josh or Al, if you could let me know if you could let me know if
0:59
the video looks pretty good. The stream, I'd appreciate it. Let me know how it looks
1:05
I have got a lot of news to share I almost don know where to start but I tell you what I want to do really quickly before we get going here because I oh this is really important I going to tease this for tomorrow and I talk about it a couple of times
1:23
So tomorrow, the live stream is going to be about this. And so this brand new tape measure and wait until you see it tomorrow
1:35
So I'm just letting you know. So anyway, we're going to talk about that tomorrow
1:42
Spend a good five minutes on it. And I think you're going to be blown away. The thing I want to share is we're going to be talking today about my newsletter from yesterday
1:59
I did a quick survey. It was kind of last minute. I had the idea on Saturday
2:04
and I want to share the survey results with you. I was kind of astonished by them
2:10
And I want to talk a little bit about how I got an email on Friday night from a long-term subscriber to my newsletter
2:23
And he had watched a couple of streams last week and he was not a happy camper So we going to talk about that a little bit And I got a really great email yesterday from a woman her name is Elaine
2:39
She gets the Ask the Builder newsletter. And she was in the U.S. Navy
2:48
And she wrote this incredible story. And I'm not going to share all the details with you, but it was
2:54
such an inspiring email. And so we have a lot to talk about. And also, we did our live Zoom call
3:03
last Friday. Josh, you were there. What did you think of it? I thought it was a huge success
3:10
So we're going to be doing more of them. In fact, that's another thing I want to talk about is
3:15
after that call was over, I looked into a paid version of the different video conferencing systems
3:24
and I want to ask about those. I want to get some feedback. So we have a lot to do today
3:29
Let's get started. Because those people who are here who want to know about front porch
3:35
how to build a front porch and all that, I want to talk a little bit about that. I actually use that topic today for my syndicated column And the way I started the column out really kind of interesting the column will be available on the website tomorrow in the morning
3:51
is I had the really good fortune to, you know, cut my teeth in the construction industry in Cincinnati, Ohio
4:02
And that was back in the 1970s and the 80s. And Cincinnati, if you've never been there
4:08
you know, of course it is east of the Mississippi River. The town was founded in the 1700s, but it really got going in the early 1800s
4:21
And then what happened is after the Civil War, the city really started to expand up out of the valley and up onto the plateaus
4:31
And up on those plateaus, there was a huge housing explosion. and growth in the city in the late 1800s and the early 1900s
4:44
And I happened to live in the two houses that were built in that time period
4:49
And I rehabbed them both. And then I did a lot of work on those houses
4:55
One thing in common for many, many, many of these homes
