Hi, how you doing? Good morning. Actually, it is, well, it depends on where you're at
0:07
I'm Tim Carter. This is Ask the Builder, and I'm doing a quick little experiment. I decided to do a flash go-live experience where it's not announced to anybody
0:20
And I just wanted to see how quickly we could pick somebody up. So there, that's very interesting
0:27
Boom, two people. Good morning. How you doing? It's morning here in the United States and I don't know where you're at
0:35
And I'm just doing a quick test. I wanted to see what would happen if I just went live without telling anybody
0:45
But obviously it works. So good morning. Tell me where you're at
0:49
Tell me where you're watching from. It would really be helpful if you could do that. If you could type that in the chat, just let me know where you are
0:55
And I would really appreciate that. You don't have to tell me the city
1:01
Just tell me the country. So anyway, I want to talk a little bit real quickly here
1:07
Because I had just uploaded a brand new column to my website I actually wrote the column yesterday Oklahoma very nice Nancy Good morning Great to have you here How did Mike I got a quick question because this is all new to me So how did you know I was
1:25
live? I mean, could you, did you just happen to be on the homepage of YouTube and hit the
1:32
live button and see that I was there? I'm just curious. This is all new. I just don't know how
1:37
All right. So, and I have no trouble admitting that kind of thing. So I just loaded a brand new column
1:45
Hi, how you doing, New York? Great to have you here. O'Cams. Awesome. You must make razors
1:52
I didn't use one today. So got a little bit of stubble going on. Anyway, toilet wet rings, the gasket under your toilet. Very important. If you don't put it in right, that, you know, it
2:07
You get all kinds of sewer gas problems and you can have water leaks. It's very, very, very important
2:14
YouTube pop, we're interesting. Okay, we're very interesting, Nancy. Thank you for that
2:18
I really appreciate it. If you are interested in more things like this I starting to do live streams every day I only today I going to do one at 4 o you know in the afternoon Eastern time So I just doing a short one here
2:37
Nice. Very, very, thank you for that information. Roisms. So I just wanted, like I said, I just wanted to do a really quick test to see what would
2:45
happen if I went live and I didn't tell anybody. It's just like how many people might show up
2:50
So now let's talk just really quickly, just about. Everybody uses a toilet
2:56
I can't imagine not using one. Although I say that I'm not trying to be gross here, but as a contractor, you learn
3:05
and this is really true for a lot of people who are outdoors a lot, hikers, whatever
3:09
You learn to get by without a toilet. You really don't need them. They just make it easier
3:15
Yes, Jeff, I am. I've been a master plumber since 1981. So I love doing plumbing work
3:23
I'm a master carpenter. I also built custom homes and did a lot of custom remodeling
3:28
But I did all the plumbing on all my jobs. And if you have any kind of plumbing questions whatsoever
3:34
this is a good time to ask them. I'm happy to answer them for you
3:38
One of the things I also do, and we going to talk about toilet gaskets in just a minute one of the things I do I one of the few people that do it evidently is if you are going to put the plumbing in your own home like a new home
3:51
or maybe a remodeling job, and you need to pull a plumbing permit, typically you have to draw
3:56
a plumbing isometric drawing. And most people have no clue how to do that. And if you try to do it
4:02
yourself, probably a 99% chance you're going to get it wrong, because you have to show the
4:09
correct pipe sizes and you also have to show all the correct connections and you have to show the
4:13
correct bent pipe sizes. Most people have no clue how to size those things. I happen to enjoy doing it
4:19
and I offer that service to people. So anyway, if you know people who need a plumbing
4:24
isometric or drawn, I do that. So anyway, let's talk a little bit about the gasket that's
4:29
underneath a toilet. So when you set a toilet on a finished floor, you have to make a very good
4:39
connection between the toilet and the drain pipe system. And it's really not much different than
4:45
you know, a lot of things that are sealed. For example, in car and truck engines, there are a lot of
4:51
gaskets because the engines are operating under it high pressures, like there's a head, the cylinder head
