Do you have a door that's hard to close or maybe that one that won't stay open
0:09
Well guess what? Most of those problems are easy to diagnose and they're easy to solve
0:13
Here's the first place I'd like to begin. I want you to look at the top hinge of the door
0:19
Generally the screws that hold the hinge to the jam and to the door may be loose
0:23
Why don't you just tighten those just a half turn, maybe a full turn, and believe it or not
0:27
that may solve your problem. If that doesn't work, I want you to look at the middle screw in the hinge
0:33
That's the screw that's generally closest to the center of the jam. Remove that short screw and
0:38
replace it with a longer screw, preferably two inches, and that screw will take the door jam
0:42
back into the rough lumber that's hidden back behind the jam. The problem also might be for
0:48
that door that won't close tightly, the hinge might not be deep enough in the jam. To solve
0:53
that problem, you're going to have to take off the hinge and slightly remove some lumber using
0:57
a wood chisel or a razor knife. Now finally, what about that door that magically closes
1:03
on its own? You can solve that easily. All you got to do is take the hinge pin out, strike
1:07
it with a hammer, put a little bend in it, drive the hinge pin back into the hinge and
1:11
you're done. If that doesn't solve the problem, do it to all three hinge pins and believe
1:16
it or not, that will give enough resistance to keep that door open. Remember, solving
1:21
door problems is simple. Take your time, look at all the different parts and remember the
1:25
tolerances are close. Do all that and you're going to have a great time. If you want to
