Hi, I'm Tim Carter and I am Ask the Builder and I am live
0:10
And I'm glad you're here. It's going to be a pretty good day
0:16
A little cold here. What would you expect for January in New Hampshire, correct
0:23
And today we're going to have a really relaxed live stream. I don't know where it's going to go
0:30
I came up with the idea for the topic today right at the end of yesterday's live stream
0:35
Let's see what happens. Today, though, who sponsors the live stream? Of course, I'm going to sponsor it
0:42
with my roofing rip-off book. If you've not read this book, you really should
0:48
It's really an easy read. It's not a big, giant, thick book. You probably can get through it in an hour
0:53
it's really mostly for people in the United States because we're the ones who use all the asphalt shingles
1:03
Most of the other people in the world have discovered that they don't want asphalt shingles on their roofs
1:09
All right. So anyway I got really some help on this book I just say this really quickly A deep throat source from inside the industry way way way high up who was ethically challenged
1:24
by what was going on in the industry. And he agreed to a one-hour interview, actually it turned into a lecture for me
1:33
about what the truth was, what was going on. And I, of course, saved that interview
1:39
I've got it hidden in a couple of spots. And everything that he said was true
1:45
And the reason I know it's true is simply because I think I said this the other day
1:50
When I make a mistake, whether it's on video, whether it's in one of my columns, believe me, I hear about it
1:58
And I've made a few. I've made a few mistakes. Who doesn't? You know, I'm human. And so I sent a copy of this book when it came out four or five years ago to the roofing
2:09
companies here in America and their public relations firm. And I didn't hear a word back. So
2:16
they were hoping that it would go away. But I need you to download a copy of it to make sure it
2:24
doesn go away We need to hold their feet to the fire All right And the way to do it I put a link inside the chat I do it again right down
2:35
And so just go here, sign up, do what it says at that page
2:39
And not only you're going to get the copy of the e-book, you're going to get seven other free files, really great ones
2:46
So you get more than the e-book. I give you access to my 90-minute streaming video about how to keep your basement dry
2:54
and I also give you six other really popular PDF files that I sell
2:59
So just go get it, simple as that. Let's catch up. Oh, Shannon
3:09
Good afternoon. Good afternoon. Bingo. I know the Europeans are, they know how to build things
3:22
Well, what happened, I think. I read this somewhere, and it makes sense to me that way, way, way back hundreds of years ago
3:30
the Europeans used to build with lumber like the Americans do. But what happened is because Europe is so much older than America I mean think about it you know Europe been around 2 years you know America are you kidding me It only been populated for not even 300 years you know to speak of
3:51
And America is much bigger and Canada's above us. And we have, I don't want to say we have unlimited lumber, but at this point in time, we do
4:01
We, you know, to us, lumber is like sand at the beach
4:06
I mean, it's just, it's easy to get. But so since the Europeans ran out of lumber, they had to figure out something else
4:14
Plus, they realized that lumber is truly a, it's a temporary building material
4:19
I mean, that's why the pyramids are not built out of lumber. All right
4:24
I mean, you know, lumber rots, simple as that. So anyway, that's why you see on the old castles in Europe, the reason they've fallen to disrepair is because the roof, the roof collapses
4:35
The roof goes bad. As soon as the roof goes bad, it's game over. It's game over
4:40
So whether it burns or whether it rots out. Okay. Hi, Marlon
4:46
How you doing? Good to see you. Anyway, so today I want to talk about something that's really kind of interesting
4:53
