Attach Wood To Concrete Video

VIDEO SUMMARY

Does your upcoming project require you to attach a piece of lumber to a concrete floor or concrete wall? Not sure how to do it? Here is a very easy method for attaching that wood to concrete without using all those concrete anchors.

You will need a hammer drill, 20 ounce hammer and some 16d nails. Insert a 1/4" masonry drill bit, 4 or 6 inches long, into the hammer drill. Drill through the wood and into the concrete. Pull the drill out occasionally to clear the shavings. Once the hole is drilled, take two nails and place them in the hole. Then drive both nails into the hole at the same time.

Drilling the two nails in at the same time will create a solid connection that will be almost impossible to pull out. Space the holes about 16" to 24" on centers and your wood will be firmly held in place.

Question: How can 3/4" hardwood flooring be installed on a concrete slab, not using wood as an underlayment?

Generally hardwood is not installed on concrete due to high likelihood of trapping moisture. The moisture will cause the wood to warp and the floor will not last. You can install tile and some floating floors over concrete, but solid wood floors are not rated for use on concrete.

I am trying to figure out what is the best idea for replacing the subfloor in my bathroom. With all the moisture in the bathroom, the floor I put in didn't last long. I have heard not to put plywood in the bathroom. The floor under the subfloor is cement.

I need to attach my ledger board of my deck to my home. I have brick on the outside but next to it are concrete cylinder blocks. What is long enough to fasten the ledger board to this since my footing is extended 2 feet from the wall
