New Hampshire Icy Snow 2015

On January 8, 2015 it snowed in central New Hampshire and then it rained on top of the fresh snow while the temperature dropped like a rock.

The result was magical. Everywhere you looked there was a gleaming icy coating that made the countryside look like a giant glazed doughnut.

Then a week Mother Nature decided to cover her art with a dry snow.

But a windy day and an open field that had fetch to the north produced this gorgeous scene below. That's the glazed ice you see in patches, not liquid water! This field is on Upper Bay Road in Sanbornton about five miles south of my house on the west shore of Loch Winnisquam.
