You mention that you should protect the floors with urethanes but is this a
need step for walls too?
Does this paint job last long? I have been thinking about doing this to my
bathroom tile walls (not the shower) and everyone says it will peal in a
few years or everytime you bump the wall it will scratch off the paint.

Would it be safe to use the floor paint made for garage floors on a ceramic
tile floor? Would you still have to coat with a clear urethane.
it sounds like you're very knowledgeable...i hope the questions get
answered quickly...'cuz i'll have alot of them:).....thanks so much!!!

I can't afford to completely re-tile, but would like to remove a few
scattered tiles and replace with an offset color to up-grade the design.
How do I get a tile off the wall without damaging the ones around it?

paint tile that plates and dishes will constantly be drug across? Alos,
should I put a polyurethane coat over it? Thank you in advance for your
time and acknowledgment.

There is actually a ceramic tile paint on the market now that works really
well AND you can use it on tile that will get wet. I have painted my shower
stall, bathtub and toilet bowl and the paint is still like new.

Do you have to sand the tile on a kitchen backsplash before you paint it or
is there special paint that sticks to it?
It also may help the paint adhere if you take the gloss/slickness off of
the tile with some very fine sandpaper. Don't sand so hard that you streak
lines into the tile.
Be aware, if you sand it, there's no turning back, you have lost the glossy
finish

How do I get stainless steel 4x4" tiles to adhere over satis glazed ceramic
tiles on my outdoor BBQ grill that's built into the reverse side of my
fireplace? I tried 3M Fire Barrier silicone, Locktite silicone and double
sided sticky tape. The SS tiles fall off. I cleaned the tiles first with
ammonia. Would a primer paint over the ceramic tiles work. My objective
is to glue the SS tiles over the ceramic tiles. Thanks.
i am designing and painting tiles to go around my fireplace. what would
you suggest I use to "glue" them to the metal around the opening; also is
it safe to use the urethane sealer on the tiles since they are on a
fireplace? thanks

"so long as the water sports in the bathroom do not get totally out of
control"?
I'm trying to imagine how you came up with this phrase.
Also, how am I able to judge whether my 'water sports' are 'totallly',
moderately, or just ever so slightly 'out of control'?

I have an ugly peach and brown tiled countertop and backslpash in my
kitchen and I would like to know if I paint it white should I be buying the
spray paint seen on HGTV with the glossy top coat? Or can I just buy a
gallon and do my bathroom as well?

I just got a call from a client whom I painted over her white ceramic tile
fireplace surround. I painted it early spring. My process was 1) scuff ( I
used norton grey scuff pads) 2) prime (I used STIX) 3) glaze (I used Faux
effects aquaglaze and aqua colors) and poly (I used polycrylic satin). NOW
shes says that its chipping on the bottom in front of the fireplace. I NEED
to know if the products I used were not appropriate and what I can do to
remedy the situation. I thought maybe using oil based paints and glaze. I
would strip everything down again. The tile was very hard to scuff and
maybe wasn't scuffed sufficiently. I would appreciate ANY help. PLEASE!
This is a working wood burning fireplace too.

Thanks for the information on painting tiles!
I'm in a rental apartment and it has very white backsplash tiles behind the
counters. I want to add some color to the also very white kitchen by
painting them. In a year or so, if I move out, will the paint be easy to
remove without damaging the tile? Could you recommend a type or brand of
tile paint to use? I was looking into simple acrylic paint or even
children's bath paints... Suggestions are greatly appreciated!
Cheers,
S.

There is no shower or tub in the bathroom.

Tim,
I want to paint some tile (to be used outdoors), and have been told that
the tile should have a primer coat before applying any paint, otherwise the
paint may bubble and come off.
Is this true, or is it ok to just apply the paint?
thank you,
Chris

What kind of cleaner should you use on the tile kitchen floors after you
paint them (for weekly cleaning?) that will protect the paint?
Also, will the floors be slippery to walk on after they're painted?
Thanks!

Unfortunately, this is a almost a year old, but I am hoping that the person
that mentioned the ceramic tile paint for shower stalls my see this. What
is the name of the paint?
Will I need to sand the tile prior to priming? I am using a
urethane-modified acrylic primer that I have used in the past for various
projects. Of course I'd rather not sand if I don't need to! Perhaps a light
sanding w/ 220 paper by hand will work?

my son and his friend installed tile in my bathroom. We got decorative tile
strips from Home Depote for around the tub. They are pourous and when they
grouted the grout soaked into the tile and it now looks dirty. Can I get
this out or how and what do I paint it with. They were 4 X 12 strips that
have several cut tiles in a pattern.
Can u help me it looks terrible.

I have textured ceramic tile. Can I rub in tile paint thinly with a rag to
glaze a darker color over a lighter tile to simply make it darker but keep
the limestone marble appearance it already has? I simply want to make the
tile darker without having a solid color tile.
Thank you.

a special ceramic tile paint. What is the name? Can I paint these tiles?

Question for Chelie July 14th.
Does anyone have a name of the ceramic tile paint that was mentioned in
this post?
I successfully painted a 5x10 ceramic tiled sunroom floor. What I would do
differently: don't regrout the floor! It takes hours and is hard on
backs. Best to paint grout and all. Also, be sure to get your primer
tinted, rather than using white primer. After all the work of regrouting,
I ended up putting a 3rd coat of oil-based floor paint on and painting
grout and all.
