Ask the contractor about his business, the kind of trade magazines he subscribes to, his management habits. Get references from the supply houses where he buys materials. What do they know about the quality of his work?

Cracks Need Urethane Caulk

Urethane caulks are a great way to deal with cracks that need to be painted. Silicone caulks do not accept paint or pigment. Urethane caulk will accept water and oil based paints. Be sure you wait the appropriate amount of drying time for the paint type you intend to use.

Sheet Vinyl Woes

Sheet vinyl takes great skill to install. Sheet vinyl flooring failure almost always can be traced to the installer. The sheet vinyl may have been laid on unapproved underlayment with an unapproved adhesive, causing seams to pop open, curling and discoloration.
