When a model home plan is modified, money may be saved initially by not choosing upgrades, but it will cost you time later. Try to save money on things that you can change easily, such as flooring. Be careful when substituting inferior products.
New refrigerators offer icemakers. Connecting an ice maker to your refrigerator is best done with ball valves and standard tee fittings.
Ceramic tile salvage can be done with a great deal of patience. Grout removal should be done gently to avoid damaging ceramic tile. The next step will be prying the tile loose from its base. Then clean it up and your ceramic tile reinstallation should go very well.
Custom wine cellars can be built in your home. The trick is to create the artificial environment of a cool cellar home wine storage. Insulation, lighting and tile flooring should all be considered. Pre-made wine storage kits are available as quick shelving.
Clean and seal your deck and take next year off? It can be done. Use oxygen bleach to get a beautiful clean. Power washing will chew up the soft wood of your deck. Penetrating water repellents made of synthetic resins soak into the wood. These are not film forming sealers that will feed algae and mildew. Follow the directions and then take a year or two off.
Artificial stone can be applied directly to a wood wall substrate for a great stone wall look. The materials used will be: treated lumber for posts and beams; plywood for the sub-wall; and tar paper, galvanized wire lath and mortar for setting the stones.
A toilet that leaks often centers on the toilet flange. If your toilet moves, you can repair the toilet flange and stop toilet leaks.
A brick patio draws raves. Create patios of ceramic tile, stone, concrete, stamped concrete, concrete brick or clay bricks as well.
Wood flooring can be placed on concrete surfaces. The concrete slab must be above ground level and the concrete must be completely dry and cured before hardwood floor installation begins. Wood floors will be attached to plywood that is fastened to the concrete.
Outdoor faucet leaks are best repaired with ball valves. This outdoor faucet repair also allows more water flow for the garden hose.
