how about 33 slats. you are correct I did not read the question about the oriental rugs properly. I thought it said rugs in the room..duh..

I am of course late in taking this quiz - maybe close to the last one, but I'm just now catching up on old emails and I try to read all of yours. In answer to your final questions: no I have not just gotten new glasses, though I've been thinking about going in for an eye check-up, and I see 32 slats on the blind, not counting the bottom rail.
