I am inquiring what to do in a number one- bad seam joints in the underlying drywall, undiscovered until old wallpaper was removed, number 2, when the old wallpaper was removed, several pieces of the drywall was damaged when the old paper was stripped. There are several places where the drywall is showing strips of cardboard, how or can this be fixed without tearing the old drywall out. I want to put new wallpaper back up.
Repair the wall to suit. Next, I always, always paint underneath wallpaper with semi to high gloss paint. this I do because when you next strip it, the wallboard will not come off with the paper. Lots of experience speaking! Do not use flat paint - it makes the wallpaper stick harder, thus creating the problem you just had. Good luck - S
