Climate Change Myth Debunked

athabasca glacier canada

Climate Change Debate | This is the Athabasca Glacier in the Canadian Rockies. It's the poster child for the man-made climate change group. They point to this glacier's rapid retreat and melting as proof positive that man is ruining the planet. The melt rate of this glacier is minuscule compared to the rapid melt rate of the massive continental glacier just 15,000 years ago. Read below for all the FACTS about the last continental glacier. I took the above photo of the Athabasca Glacier in 2012. Copyright 2024 Tim Carter

Man-Made Climate Change is Questionable - Why? Look at the Rocks

SUMMARY: Climate change is real. It's been changing for millions of years long before man started introducing carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.

Everything that follows is a fact. I've been an expert witness in home improvement lawsuits for over 25 years. Courts and judges require me to tell the truth, the WHOLE truth, and nothing but the truth in depositions and on the witness stand.

You need to know the whole truth to make the correct decision about any topic. What you're about to read are climate change TRUTHS that have been withheld from you by the media, many scientists, and others.

It's important for you to realize my college degree is in geology with a focus on continental glaciation. The following are facts found in any treatise on Continental Glaciation:

  • Twenty-thousand years ago the last continental glacier in the USA reached its maximum advance
  • It averaged 3,000 feet in thickness
  • This massive glacier extended from the North Pole across most of Canada, and all of New England down to New York City
  • The thick glacier extended across the upper Midwest and much of the Rocky Mountains were engulfed in deep snow and mountain glaciers
  • This monstrous glacier started to melt about 15,000 years ago
  • It retreated back to the North Pole within 7,000 years
  • The climate went from arctic to tropical in a matter of a few thousand years creating this rapid melting rate
  • There were no factories, power plants, buses, trucks, etc. spewing CO2 during this time period all those thousands of years ago
  • Mother Nature changed the climate as she did three other times in the past 2,000,000 years

Why haven't you seen the above facts that are etched into the geologic record?

Why doesn't the mainstream media share these facts?

The X post below shows that USA Today, a mainstream media member, knows all about the geologic record, but they choose not to share the whole truth with you.

usa today twitter post climate change

USA Today states man-made climate change is real. This X post says is it's not. There were no fossil fuels burning in Medieval Times for goodness sake. How was it that Greenland was green hundreds of years ago when man was creating NO CO2?

Are you on the side of the debate thinking that man-made CO2 exhaust will create devastation? If so, you better watch this video because CO2 is not the issue.

Do you think Al Gore is a climate expert? Are you aware that just about all his predictions never came true? Why is it that the mainstream media doesn't point out that Mr. Gore's predictions have not panned out?

Do you believe the world will end in 2032 because of climate change? New York Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez made this bold claim in a speech.

Stop and ask yourself WHY you believe in man-made climate change.

Read Dr. Robert Cialdini's Influence - The Psychology of Persuasion book. You'll discover the powerful psychological triggers of social proof, authority, and scarcity which can be used to influence how you feel about a topic, product, or political movement.

You need to apply critical thinking to the climate change issue. It demands it, or otherwise, you could find yourself on the wrong side of history just like all those old scientists who swore the Earth was flat.

Think about that. Think how vicious that argument was hundreds of years ago and how those who disagreed with the flat-earthers were persecuted.

History Shows the Experts Can Be Wrong

Scientists hundreds of years ago preached the earth was the center of the solar system. They were wrong.

Doctors hundreds of years ago believed that blood-letting would cure many illnesses and disease. They were wrong.

Scientists hundreds of years ago stated the Earth was flat. They were wrong.

It's possible we're at one of these moments in time now. The current scientists that claim man is changing the climate may be wrong.

Climate Change Myth Debunked - Look At Rocks For the Truth

My college degree is in geology. Think about the old saying cast in stone and what it means. The true story of climate change is cast in the geologic record all over the world. The facts locked in the rocks are irrefutable.

Here are some basic geologic facts that prove man-made climate change is questionable at best:

  • vast continental glaciers have advanced and retreated in North America four times in the past 2,000,000 years
  • no CO2-belching factories, buses, cars, trucks, coal-fired power plants, etc. existed during that time
  • mountains in the Northeast USA have giant glacial scratches proving the glaciers were there
  • enormous glacial outwash deposits are scattered all over the Northeast and Midwest USA from the glaciers
  • New York State's Finger Lakes were created by the continental glaciers
  • Central Park in New York City has exposed bedrock with deep glacial striations - the venerable New York Times produced an in-depth feature about this

Geologic data contained in and on top of rocks can't be altered by scientists. Rocks, sand, and gravel tell no lies. If you want the truth, you look at geologic data. Rocks don't make mistakes but scientists can.

You can see evidence of climate change in New Hampshire geology. No humans were around creating CO2 to create this climate change.

New York City Glacial Striations - Evidence Abounds

You can spend a day or two or three examining all of the continental glaciation facts in and about New York City.

This past article in the New York Times offers you some stunning illustrations, facts, and history.

Look at this photo of a huge glacial striation in the Pemigewasset River just a mile south of Bristol, New Hampshire. The bowl-shaped groove was cut in the granite bedrock as the huge continental glacier slid over the rock using fine stones in the ice to grind the groove:

Athabasca Glacier Facts - The Cold Truth

athabasca glacier canada

This is a close-up shot of the Athabasca glacier. I was standing on it about a mile up from its terminus. While it seems enormous, it's not compared to massive continental glaciers. Copyright 2018 Tim Carter

It's important to realize the man-made climate change community points to the Athabasca Glacier in the Canadian Icefields as proof that man is to blame for climate change.

I've walked on the Athabasca Glacier. It's a very small glacier. The glacier is maybe 3 miles long and less than 1,000 feet wide at its terminus.

The Athabasca Glacier is thin. It's only several hundred feet thick at most.

Since the late 1800s, when we've been spewing CO2 into the atmosphere, the glacier has retreated less than one mile.

That equals about 37 feet 6 inches of melting per year. You can confirm this with ease. Go do it now.

The USA's continental glaciers were huge. They melted much faster 15,000 years ago than the current rate of glacier melt worldwide.

This is cross-bedded sand and small gravel in central New Hampshire. It's far above the current river bed of the Pemigewasset River. The last continental glacier's meltwater deposited this sand about 12,000 years ago. I took this photo in 2017 at the Pemigewasset Valley Fish & Game Club. The credit card is for scale. Continental Glacier Melt Facts

The last continental glacier was massive. It covered the North Pole and extended to Cape Cod, Massachusetts. The tremendous glacier left a nice conversation piece for you to look at.

It's called the Doane Rock - a glacial erratic boulder.

In addition, consider these additional continental glacier melting facts:

Glacial Map of Ohio

Summary - Always Look At Rocks for the Truth

The massive continental glaciers were thousands of feet thick. They covered tens of thousands of square miles. The minuscule Athabasca glacier is a tiny pin prick on a map compared to the huge ice sheets.

The massive ice sheets melted at a far faster rate than the Athabasca glacier is retreating. That evidence is undeniable.

There was no man-made CO2 around during the four periods of continental glaciation that occurred in the past 2,00,000 years.

If you want the truth, always follow the money and study the rocks.

Just as history eventually showed that scientists and experts were wrong about blood-letting, the earth being the center of the solar system/universe and the earth supposedly was flat, you may live to see that man-made climate change might not be true.

Kenny Chesney wrote a great song about this. Listen.

  1. David Krauss says:

You really should stick to writing about what you understand best. You won't convince anyone based on what is happening at a single glacier.

    • Tim Carter says:

Thanks for your comment David. I believe you missed the point completely. Just in the last 2,000,000 years there were four periods of massive continental glaciation. Man was not creating CO2.

Here's the rhetorical question that the man-made climate-change ideologues refuse to answer:

How much *climate change* does it take to create that much ice and melt it four times?

What's more, when you look at "deep time" you'll discover that there were other periods of continental glaciation.

You need to step back and stop listening to the *scientists* and just focus on the data in the geologic record that can't be baked.

  2. Daniel says:

I love you and your information on things you are good at, but you are way off when it comes to climate change.

You can't logically make your claim for no climate change based on weather or small areas. It's called *global* warming for a reason.

I suggest others go to the specialists who work on climate change (you will never change your mind), and see their proof. The scientists know what they are talking about.

    • Tim Carter says:

      Thanks Dan for your insight.

I think you might want to reconsider your statement looking back at the legacy of *specialists and scientists*.

There are quite a few examples all through history where your scientists were wrong.

Here are a few instances of where the vast majority of scientists and specialists were on the wrong side of an issue:

      - blood-letting, yes they used to think that was a cure
      - earth was the center of the solar system, Ooops!
      - the earth was flat, Ouch!!

Should I keep listing other examples?

As I replied above to another comment, you should try to set your ideology aside. It's blinding you. Just focus on the geologic record. Don't listen to the scientists. Look and listen to the rocks and use your own mind.

Scientists who rely on grant money to pay their bills are bound by deep-rooted psychology to deliver results that please those giving them the money.

Don't believe me? Read the first two chapters of the following book written by one of the top scientists / specialists in his field. Pay attention to the chapter about reciprocity - it's the easiest psychological button to push on someone.

You're attracted to these people so this shouldn't be a stretch for you:

  3. Jeremy says:

Nobody is arguing that climate change has not occurred. It's the *massive* increase in the rate of global warming that's occurred since the industrial revolution that's the issue. Much faster than any other time in our earth's history. If you think it's about the grant money, the fossil fuel industry and their investors (especially Koch Industries) have way more invested in not being environmentally regulated. They've invested huge amounts of money and resources into campaigns and advertising that are aimed at climate change denial and eliminating pollution regulations.

Lets assume, theoretically, that man-made climate change isn't real. Is it really such a bad thing to reduce the amount of pollution in the air we breath? Do we want our cities to become like Beijing where pollution is virtually unregulated? A city constantly blanketed in smog where people are suffering chronic health issues and many people have to wear masks daily. Not me.

    • Tim Carter says:

"Massive" increase?? Where's the data to support that statement. Can you show me glaciers in the world that are thousands of feet thick that have been melting at a rate GREATER than 1700 feet per year?

Please don't point to those grant scientists' data who were caught red handed cooking their data. Just go out and find me the glaciers that are melting FASTER or equal to the continental glaciers. Good luck. You'll need it.

  4. Ivan Pena says:

Funny Tim, that you give examples of general beliefs from the 18th or earlier centuries (the blood letting, etc), which science itself disproved. With the technologies, and data collection, which were not available back then, more discoveries today than ever before have been made. Human population has grown from 1 billion to 8 billion in the last century. The industrial revolution brought pollution producing gases than never in earth's history. The farming industry with millions of cattle, swines and other live stocks are also contributing to the pollution. Most peoples, like yourself fail miserably to link all the factors that are contributing to the demise of our well-being and future generations. Humans with our rapid population growth on earth are like the micro organisms that takes over a body and slowly kills it, and eventually themselves

  5. Onlymho says:

even high school science and geology textbooks from the 60's taught that we were in the midst of an unusually moderate period and should expect far greater extremes in the near future

  6. Stephen G Morgan says:

No arguement from me. Well said!

  7. Anthony Kilburn says:

Tim, for more information to support your positio read The Little Ice Age byBrian Fahrenheit. A real eye and mind opener. Tony

  8. Vic Mondary says:

You are spot on Tim, how do we get these idiots to quit teaching these lies to our children in school.

  9. Elton Yancey says:

Interesting articles in this post.Keep them coming. Man Made climate change is political B.S.

  10. Bob Neveux says:

Where on earth do you find all the time to do all this research like above when you are so involved in so many other things?
    PS Along time friend.

  11. Clay says:

Bravo Tim. Keep the truth coming.

  12. Elton Yancey says:

I agree with you 100%. The whole thing is a big scam to scare people . It is just one part of the globalist plan to Take control of the whole planet.

  13. William Murmann says:

Excellent article about climate change! I've vacationed on Cape Cod since 1970. I've seen Doane Rock and the kettle ponds and have read "A Geologist's View of Cape Cod" by Arthur N. Strahler, which supports your comments.

There are also glacial grooves on one of the islands at the western end of Lake Erie. And geologists from The Ohio State University found that the last glacier filled in and covered up a meteor crater in Seneca County in northwestern Ohio, turning it into flat farmland.

I was president for 10 years of the Cuyahoga Astronomical Association and used to give talks about astronomy, including a Powerpoint presentation about Ohio's meteor craters. If you are interested, I'd be happy to email it to you.

    Sincerely,

    Bill Murmann
    Strongsville, OH

  14. Philip Garrett says:

    100% agree with you.

  15. Elton Yancey says:

I could not agree with you more but the people with the truth don't get very many headlines. I guess it's because of all the money that is being spent on this big scam. When these scammers quit flying all over the globe in their big jets, they might get a little creditability, but still no proof. Thank you for all your great work on this. Elton Yancey

  16. Paul Kaminer says:

I graduated high school in 1971. In 1969 and 1970 in science we were taught that an ice age was coming in the near future and all the Earth's population would have to relocate along the equator to survive. If I remember correctly, we were told this would be happening by the year 2000. So I guess if I can live through the Ice Age, I can live through Global Warming, which has been conveniently renamed Climate Change since the climate is always changing.

  17. Gary Marcantoni says:

It seems to me that in the 1970’s the fad was that we were in “global cooling” because we were spewing out Carbon Monoxide from cars, etc., and producing things that caused more ozone (even products such as paint, hairspray, deodorant, whipped cream, etc.,loaded with “ozone-producing” propellants that blocked the sun’s energy. Hmmmm.

  18. Phillip 79 says:

Hi , people will always say something for money . With that said it was good to regulate coal burning . The other countries are still burning it like crazy . (china)

  19. Greg says:

I totally agree with you. I have been saying for a long time that the only ones promoting climate change are paid government scientists that would not have a job if they published facts! Thanks for the reassuring information.

  20. Lorraine Irizarry says:

Just found your site today. I always knew the myth was BS but your info/expertise are a much welcomed source of relatable facts to use in any argument I might make to others. Then again, most of them are just not ready to listen.
Thank you for a great read.
    With respect.

  21. Barb Koehler says:

Keep up the good work. Although I have read many scientific truths re climate change, the youth still do not understand. It's about time we force some honest classes in our schools and stop lying to our students. Perhaps a challenge for a public discussion is needed. Why don't you call their bluff?
Love your work and dedication to truth in all areas.

  22. Ronald Frank Carnevale says:

You sure make a lot of sense Tim; However my degree is in business .Can't you get other geologists and start a war on this AOC and other lying liberals. These are the same group parents are trusting their offspring to be educated and all they are being is indoctrinated. You can't win a one man campaign and most of us do not know enough to help. I am wheeling to learn and your article was an eye opener to me. Tank you Ron C Hernando fla34442

  23. Jack Stover says:

I have always told the "global warming" spouters that I agree, and it probably has been going on since the end of the Ice Age. Please keep stating the truth! I am not a robot, re: the CAPTCHA below but at times feel better informed, like what Trace Gallagher points out on his common sense segments. Teach how not what to think.

  24. John Lorenz says:

To quote Simon and Garfield from their song The Boxer, "A MAN HEARS WHAT HE WANTS TO HEAR AND DISREGARDS THE REST." How true this is, especially today in politics. But this has been true since prehistoric man developed the ability to "think".

I am about your age. In the early '60s, same time frame as the song just referenced, the scientist were saying we were entering another ice age. (Granted this will take thousands of yeas to happen.) But instead of the cyclical cooling, the earth has become warmer. We also only had about 30 years of Natural gas remaining. both predictions based upon the fact known at that time. While personally I do not feel the document global warming is entirely due to man's sudden release of carbon that took millions of years to sequester, I think man is nudging the climate a little. Pollution directly resulting from the burning of coal is without question. Acid Rain is real. You should know about it. Anyone can pick and choose isolated "facts" to prove and defend whatever side they want to believe. I am not about to try to change your views on why the climate is warming up overall. There are facts to support their opinion on both sides.

  25. John Lorenz says:

Do rocks show the rate of change on a short (say decade) time interval? Overall change, yes. The problem, as reported in the news, is the glaciers are melting at a rate drastically faster than ever before in human recorded history. Given the current rate there will be costal consequences. Or can you debunk this also?

A man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest.

  26. Jim Schackmann says:

    Tim,
Great article, but there are the people out there that won’t believe it. I agree with everything you said.

  27. Michael Peters says:

    Dear Tim,
Sorry, need to side with Al on this one and set the record straight. You are correct in that the proof is in the rocks and they tell the story.
But, this is the real story. When all these glaciers were forming and melting, growing and receding, earth was a moon of Jupiter. When the great red spot on Jupiter was facing earth, the glaciers were melting much quicker. And when earth orbited away from the great red spot, the glaciers grew almost instantly.
Then one day, some of the locals got together and decided hey; we have to get out of this orbit. And so they paddled and paddled until earth was far away from Jupiter. Kind of where we are now; between Venus and Mars. Everything was going well until one of the paddlers descendants; Al, looked in a diary from his great, great grandpa. (x10000) It said Al; watch mother earth for us paddlers who worked so hard to get out of Jupiters orbit. You will know your call when the lowlanders near the beach start having crabs climb into their beds too often. Al, you will know what to do, there may be a new problem on the horizon. Do it right, not over.
This is when he sprung into action.

  28. Norb Warnes says:

Tim, thank you for your insights and information about the historical record of the changing earth. That the earth continues to evolve is an amazing story itself but it is disconcerting to see how a narrative has been spun to foster "mass hysteria" about the planet's imminent demise. Consider the massive dislocations of our times made in blind obedience to the false prophets. Your right - follow the science! BTW, I agree with you on one other point: AOC is an idiot, a cute and useful one, but still an idiot.

  29. Ed says:

Excellent post as usual about the politics & lies about climate change being manipulated by man.

  30. Phil says:

  32. Clay Cee says:

Great article Mr. Carter. It's sad that this information is not well known or presented by the main stream media.

I am unable to see the comments posted by other commenters. I will check your website to see if you have posted a fix for this. If not please post a page with those notes. Thanks.

  33. Donna says:

Thank you, Tim. I was surprised to learn that my grandchildren were not aware that where they live in the northern US was covered by very thick glaciers ... which melted long before fossil fuel consumption and large herds of cattle and the other suggested causes of "global warming". That information was in our textbooks when I was in school. I have been searching for information to show my grandchildren and let them come to their own conclusions about "global warming". None of my research has come close to the quality and depth of information in this article. I deeply appreciate your commitment to honesty and truth in publishing.

  34. Sandy Watson says:

I trust your knowledge and God’s word about how the universe and especially the Earth was created. The flood of Noah’s day produced corresponding layers of sediment all over the Earth that prove the flood happened. The Earth is warming but it has nothing to do with mankind. God is in control. The science of geology only confirms biblical truth.

  35. Craig Erickson says:

Funny how the censors accuse others of censorship.
I had to go to Duck-Duck-Go to find your climate change article. Thanks for your efforts to tell truth.

  36. Jeff Covel says:

Tim, I do not question your stated facts, but just because carbon dioxide build-up was not present in the past does not mean that that its presence now is eliminated as a primary causal factor in the current warming trend. Here are 2 more facts: Recent years are the warmest in recorded history. Carbon dioxide build-up in the atmosphere is the highest ever as confirmed by ice core samples going back millennia.

  37. Al Michalik says:

    Hi Tim,
I totally agree with you that climate change has been occurring for millions of years. And the evidence in rocks will reveal that history. It seems the evidence in rocks matches the evidence revealed by the analysis of ice cores. Both show a correlation to cooler temperatures in the past coinciding with lower greenhouse gas concentrations, while warmer periods had higher concentrations.

It seems the past naturally occurring climate warming and cooling cycles took much, much longer. Does that not point to the global temperature increase in the recent past being caused by something other than a natural cycle?

If climate change is a myth, isn't the accelerated warming (compared to the past) caused by something new? I think of comparing how the earth naturally mitigates greenhouse gases to our lungs. It seems smoking has much less of an affect on you if you quit quickly than if you smoke for a lifetime.

I would like to hear your take on my dilemma.

Continental glaciers melt due to several interconnected factors:
    Primary Causes
Increased temperature is the main driver. When Earth's climate warms, glaciers receive more heat energy from:

    Solar radiation
    Warmer air temperatures
Warmer ocean water (which melts ice shelves and marine-based glaciers from below)

    What Triggers These Warming Periods?
Milankovitch Cycles - Natural variations in Earth's orbit and tilt that affect how much solar radiation reaches different parts of the planet:

Changes in orbital eccentricity (shape of Earth's orbit)
    Axial tilt variations (obliquity)
    Precession (wobble in Earth's axis)

These cycles operate on timescales of 20,000-100,000 years and are the primary pacemaker of the ice age cycles.
Greenhouse gas changes - During natural warming periods, rising temperatures cause:

    Oceans to release dissolved CO₂
Melting permafrost to release methane and CO₂
These gases then amplify warming (positive feedback)

Ice-albedo feedback - Once melting starts:

Dark land/ocean absorbs more sunlight than reflective ice
This causes more warming and more melting
    Creates a self-reinforcing cycle

Ocean circulation changes - Shifts in ocean currents can transport warm water to polar regions, accelerating melting
    Current Situation
Today's glacial melting is primarily driven by human-caused climate change from greenhouse gas emissions, which is occurring much faster than the natural cycles that ended previous ice ages.
