My college major was geology. If you study geology, you must learn all about topographic maps.

These maps use lines on a piece of paper to indicate points on the earth that are the same height above sea level. 

The maps also show roads, forests, lakes, rivers, buildings, etc.

They are very handy.

About fifteen years ago, I discovered a company that takes these vivid maps and prints them on a bandana. I have at least fifteen different ones!!!
