Whole House Fan Manufacturers

Following is a list of major manufacturers of whole house fans. I personally called many of these manufacturers. Those I spoke with said that they would gladly mail to you, free of charge, their product literature. Many of them will also tell you the location of their closest distributor. I encourage you to call as many as you have time. Ask for the literature and read and compare the qualities of one fan over another.

Ask questions concerning motor maintenance. Does the motor require periodic lubrication, or does it have lifetime lubrication from the factory? Ask for information regarding sizing of the fan. Make sure that you purchase the right size!!! Ask about variable speed fans. Ask about timers. Some fans come equipped with timers. Other fans offer it as an option. Timers are wonderful. Go here for additional information on timers. Here's the list of manufacturers. Please give them a call! Seriously, they love to hear from people like you and me.

  1. Greetings
I am researching a fan procurement for my home. Currently this has been a bit of a challenge and so I want to seek out good advice so I cannot make an error again.

History: purchase a fax from Menards… installed and it kept shutting down…

Location of fan seems to be the problem per vendor… if you view the attached pictures you can see that I have converted a Steel Building into a home (this is a large building 27,000). The fan was located on the top of the ceiling joist just like a normal attic but the clearance was well over 17 feet high and about 40 foot across… but per the vendor .. the building didn’t have good enough ventilation and therefore it would heat up and shut down…

I have a size 36 inch opening that now I will either have to close up or…find what I want by other means…

So here is what I would desire to know…

    1. What models around 500.00 would meet my need….
    2. If the unit is mounted on the side wall of my building and then ducted back to the hole I just cut in… does it come with…
    i. Is it water proof
ii. Does it have a cover for the outside of my building etc…
iii. What type of flex duct would it use…

    Any help would be great.
