There seems to be some confusion about the opens in a new windownew water heater rules.

  1. It pertains to both electric and gas heaters.
  2. It depends on the size of the heater.
  3. After April 16, 2015, manufacturers can no longer make the old style heaters. They can sell all the OLDER technology ones until they run out.
  4. The new heaters are MORE EXPENSIVE and some have MORE MOVING PARTS that can fail over time.

My hope is that these government regulations don't take us down the same pathway as the first-generation low-flush toilets that didn't work, and the miserable CFL light bulbs that never lived up to their claims.

If you put two and two together, you should know what to do here.
